The food was delicious, we had the pork salad and the duck and were not disappointed, tasty and the service was great, friendly and professional, definitely going back.
Good place to try out, tapa portions are small, but can be shared by no more than four people with a smaller appetite. Service was excellent, comfortable atmosphere and notice level is moderate. Reservations are recommended.
Was a fantastic place. Was our first time and will def be back! The homemade sourdough bread was to die for, as well as the duck and glazed beets! Everything we ordered was delicious! Our server as well was super nice, friendly and had great suggestions!
The drinks were awesome, and our server was lovely, but most of the food arrived lukewarm.
Was really excited to try Donna Mac and it didn’t disappoint! Hangover pasta and eggs Benedict were delicious!
Everything was perfect - the ambience, the food and the service! Will definitely be returning!
We had a business dinner here on a quiet Wednesday night in January. Exceptionally attentive and friendly service. We sat at the bar and had the signature cocktail before sitting to eat and the transition was smooth. We ordered some appetizers for sharing which were delicious and creative, and then shared the main course plates (get the Mac and Cheese it's quite phenomenal). Overall excellent flavour and presentation of the dishes with a nice explanation of each dish as it arrived. Timing was good and the wine list is robust and met our "somewhat discerning" needs. Thanks guys, great job! I'll be back.
As always, Donna Mac delivers great food and great service. A menu that piques interest and lovely combinations of flavours. The duck is incredible! I love that there is a gluten and dairy free dessert that is NOT sorbet!
Great food, cool vibe, nice interior decor. This would have been a 5 star experience, except the service was surprisingly slow in the beginning. The restaurant was almost empty, with perhaps 10 other patrons besides our group of 4, but it was still 14 minutes from when were were seated to having the server take a drink order, and then it was 26 minutes total from seating to having drinks at the table. After that, service picked up considerably and food was fast and service was attentive. Not a big deal, but it was the first impression so it stuck. I will definitely go again, I am guessing this was just a one time miss.
Went for express lunch with a few friends and we were not disappointed!! The chicken sandwich was tender and well flavoured. The salad blew us away! It had quite a few ingredients but all blended so well together, with each bite hitting all the flavour buds in your mouth. We will definitely be back to try new dishes. The service was great and was knowledgeable about the menu and the story of the restaurant as well. Highly recommended!
We had the 3 course New Years Eve menu with the additional wine pairings.
The restaurant was bright enough you could see your food but dim enough to be romantic. It was open enough you don’t feel confined but if you’re looking for lots of privacy this isn’t the place, you are pretty close to the table next to you. The noise was pretty high but it was NYE and a larger group was beside us, we didn’t mind much. Our server was great, an obviously busy night for the restaurant but she didn’t skip a beat.
Both my date and I had the venison tatami to start which was so good! My date had the hanger steak (bone marrow potatoes, Brussels sprout slaw & red wine sauce) and I had the Greenland halibut (Fogo Isle Crab, charred onion & soused cabbage). We were both very pleased with our meals and enjoyed some tastes of each others as well. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned nicely. The halibut had the most amazing crust on it, yum! My date had the mulled wine poached pear dessert while I had the chocolate mousse. We both agreed the mousse was the way to go. I enjoyed the wine pairings chosen for my courses.
The food and service were excellent. We have been to Donna Mac a few times and have always been impressed with the food.
We had a great time at Donna Mac. The appetizers and wedge salad were excellent. Mains fell a little short. Chicken and dumplings were dry. Pastrami duck could have used a starch of some sort on the plate. Chocolate mousse was fabulous too. Overall, tasty and great ambience.
Excellent food and ambience an family friendly!
Donna Mac is a great new restaurant. Very nice decor and well laid out. Love their wine specials on Friday nights.
We were a real mix of needs from peanut allergy to vegan. They had something to satisfy everyone. Absolutely delicious and great cocktail selection!
What a great find! Everything was delicious would have licked the plate 😄 great service.
Amazing atmosphere & food. Great vegan & gluten-free options.
This was our first visit to Donna Mac and it will certainly not be our last. This is a fun place with very creative cuisine. We shared the Fried Cauliflower appetizer and it was very good. My wife had the Mac And Cheese (a signature dish there) and it was excellent albeit quite large. I had the Pork Schnitzel and it was very tasty. Highly recommended.
Food was wonderful and as described. A little noisy at 8pm but still an amazing experience
Staff was helpful and very courteous. Noise level a bit high (for seniors). A bright and inviting place.
You have to absolutely have the burger, unbelievably tasty, and with the fries, died and went to heaven!
Very noisy and almost impossible to have a conversation. We waited 30 min for a dessert menu and eventual cheque.
Went for my birthday - the food was really great for the most part, the tuna crudo was delish, as was the Donna Mac and Cheese. The cauliflower was good, but not spectacular... The dumplings and the pearl onions in the Kielbasa plate were amazing. Unfortunately, the Kielbasa in the plate was way too salty - not sure if it's house made or bought, but it was so salty it made me feel ill.
Sitting at the bar was great! Able to see everything going on and what the whole menu looked like. The staff was awesome!
Some of the food was delicious but I felt uncomfortable there cause the restaurant stank of cooking food and would get very smokey when food was being cooked! Maybe their food exhaust system doesn’t work that well? Notice the same thing at 4th St Mercato’s (not the one out West). You leave the restaurant smelling of everybody’s food...
I’ve driven by this place many times and finally decided to give it a try. Three of us went for our annual Christmas dinner. From a service perspective, it was awesome. Very attentive and knowledgeable, we never had a an empty glass. The wine list needs improvement, not sure if they change it often or not but if you’re all about the wine list, this might not be the right place. Food is sourced from local providers as much as possible. The Porcini and Gouda Crullers are really good and probably the highlight of our dinner. Donna “Mac & Cheese” was especially good when we added the trufle option. Since its a family style concept we shared the double cheesburger with pork belly and the pork schnitzel. Both dishes we just OK. Probably more suited as entrees for one person rather then sharing. Overall great restaurant with attentive staff and nice environment.
Great service and accommodated quiet space request. Pear salad was great!
The food was creative and super delicious.
Creative menu, with quality ingredients in a bright and airy space and excellent service. What else could you ask for! Good for a date night (or brunch) or sitting at the bar watching the chefs work their magic!
The worst dining experience.....food was marginal, with small portions. Was forced to sit at the bar in an empty restaurant. You would expect better service at the bar, but was completely ignored. I am actively not recommending Donna Mac to friends and family
Just moved to Calgary and happened to be in the same neighborhood. Tried it for the first time Saturday night and will definitely return. Everything was delicious. The service was extraordinary and very personable. The wine selection and specialty cocktails are great. Definitely get the Pork Salad. I've been dreaming of it ever since! A world class dining experience.
Great food, service, and atmosphere! Really fun wine list as well
Dropped in last minute. The server kindly informed us that we arrived just before happy hour ended so we’re treated to $5 glasses of wine. We ordered small plates of cauliflower with cheese whip - crunchy deep fried fun but not much evidence of cauliflower flavour (no judgement, just sayin’) the chicken slider,- a perfect snack, the wedge salad - deliscious and the sourdough with hurrays and roasted figs which is always a winning combination.
All in a great light meal
The food was outstanding. It was our first time so we ordered a few too many rich things. Next time we’ll pair things up better.
The portion is smaller than i expected and the food is on a bit salty side. I ordered a mac &cheese and a cheese burger. The mac and cheese taste good but the protion is small for $26 dollars. The burger size is between mini burger and the regular burger size. The flies came with the burger was hard and supper salty. Taste like flies got reheated again to serve.
The sock wines! So much fun! Jeff was super knowledgeable, energetic and a pleasure to chat with. We will most definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
As always, the team at Donna Mac provided great food and attentive service without being intrusive. It is one of our go to choices for lunch
The food at Donna Mac is fantastic but that wasn’t even the best part! The decor and ambiance is smart, chic, and cozy. Our server Roman was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu items and contributed to one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Calgary. I would 100% recommend Donna Mac to everyone.
We had an excellent evening and the food was delicious, as always. Service was prefect!
