   Special lunch for our 2nd wedding anniversary and my birthday. Aside from the great ambiance and sublime food, the customer experience was taken to another level when one of the waiters looking after us (Harley) surprised me with a candle and handwritten‘happy birthday’ alongside our dessert ‘bomb alaska’. That really touched my heart. Thank you so much

   Flavours were wonderful,great sized meals - perfect !!Service was outstanding - very informative ,polite young man.Wonderful view !! If you want somewhere outstanding,comfortable ,perfect place to spoil that someone special. Price is reasonable for what you get - you'd never question the quality of the meals - fresh produce - an absolute delight!!

   You’ll feel right at home in this warm and relaxing dining environment where every dish is a treat for the eye and your taste buts. A quintessential dining experience. Oh and did I mention the friendly staff and fantastic view of the sunset over the bay?

    Always a lovely experience! We probably only come two or three times a year, mostly for birthdays, but find it a great place with lovely food and being able to see the sand and the water is an extra pleasure.

    Our first visit and will return. The staff were excellent, the pace in which the food was brought out was perfect, giving plenty of time to enjoy the previous course. The meals were excellent, wine good value. A perfect night out as we were celebrating our 33rd Wedding Anniversary.

    It was for my son’s birthday and they are so kind. We had a window table and they also offered a birthday cake for us. Although we did not have it as we need to leave due to another commitment, but it was much appreciated.

    Visiting Melbourne regularly from Ireland we had been given a voucher for Donovans at Christmas. There was little availability for online booking but we chose 12 o'c lunch on a date to suit. We were very pleased to be given a table for 2 in the corner by the window and throughout the meal the staff were attentive and pleasant. We each had the very tasty day's appetiser of scallop, then shared the mussels and followed with chicken pie for him and the wonderful seafood linguine for me. All washed down with a couple of glasses of wine each. It was a very enjoyable experience overall. My only quibble would be the price, especially for lunch.

    Booked a dinner for two at sunset. Atmosphere was loud and crowded with tables crammed in so tight that the people next to you might as well be sharing your table with you. Service was blunt but efficient, sort of like a city diner during the corporate lunch rush. The seats were uncomfortable and the table wobbled. We ordered oysters, four starters and two of the larger mains and a range of the cocktails on the menu. Food was excellent in some areas but quite hit and miss with others. The bread offered was not fresh. The oysters however were perfectly fresh, yet shucked poorly, quite gritty and still footed to their shells. The octopus, scallops, and mussel starter dishes were delightful. Well balanced flavours, delicious sauces. Overall fresh and delicious starters indeed. The crab ravioli was just alright. The sauce was light and complimented crab meat well, but the crab pieces and pasta had an air of being prepared earlier in the week. The flavour was very good though. My wife's eggplant main was unpalatable and could not be finished. The whole fish I ordered that was cooked 'over coals' was strangely dry and the skin had no carbon burn. There were still scattered scales around the pectoral area. The cocktails were too sweet from added sugar syrup and lacked depth, leading my wife to order a mocktail in the end with gin added. The coffee was above average, we decided against dessert. It is a wonderful location but the experience felt like it wanted to appear as much more than it was capable of delivering.

    This restaurant is (& probably always will be) one of my favourites. My husband & I had our first date here & we always come back to celebrate those special occasions. We are now expecting our first child & casually mentioned it to our waiter, they then, unbeknownst to us, had a special ‘congratulations’ message written in chocolate on our dessert. The servers are just so attentive & lovely, the food is ALWAYS impeccable. I just love everything about this place.

    Went for a date night on a Saturday evening. The view was spectacular over Port Phillip Bay but the seating arrangements meant that only half of your group (in our case one of two) can see it whilst the others had their back to it. The food, service, ambience and everything you would expect from Donovans was excellent.

    From the moment you walk in you feel like you are welcomed to a friend's home! And unlike other restaurants at the moment we weren't given an hour to eat and leave!!! It was an experience that left you with a warm fuzzy feeling when you said goodnight! Thank you guys!

    I went with 5 girlfriends to have my birthday lunch at Donovan’s. We chose Donovan’s because it is consistently great food, warm and friendly service, has a spacious, comfortable environment and whilst it’s high end, represents good value for money. It didn’t disappoint. We all loved our choices and our waiter Oscar was attentive and provided just the right amount of friendly, warm banter without ever being intrusive or pushy. Every meal was beautifully prepared and presented - the quality was evident. Just when we felt we couldn’t fit in another morsel out came the birthday cake - a chocolate ice cream bomb Alaska! It was delicious! Thanks Donovan’s - I had a really happy birthday in your lovely space 🙏🏻

    I’ve been dining at Donovan’s for years and the quality / service only gets better and better. We had brilliant food. The salmon with blini is unbelievably good and the prawns and fish on the grill equally memorable. Good wine list to drink your way through and the sunset was world class. A comfortable setting in an iconic position. Top marks again Donovans

    Always love a trip to Donovan’s. We sat outside in the sunshine for a pre-lunch glass of champagne then were shown to a beautiful window table for our meal. We had oysters and chicken liver parfait to start, then swordfish and grilled prawns for main - all cooked and presented perfectly. One of Melbourne’s finest restaurants- highly recommend.
