Fantastic vegan food!! It was awesome to be able to order anything off of the menu and not feel like I was compromising taste. Everything was delicious. The Mediterranean Pizza was incredible. Can’t wait to come back for more. Only thing was the wine was a little pricey.
Just tried Doppio for the first time. We ordered the potato, Mediterranean and margarita pizzas. The potato and margarita pizzas were both very good, creatively done and worth getting. I would not order the Mediterranean - too many toppings that fell off most of the time and this pizza tasted burnt. If it wasn't for this pizza I would have given 5-stars... Definitely worth trying, but proximity to Die Pie feels like there are two very similar pizza place within two blocks of each other...
Although I enjoyed the experience my husband did not. I ordered off the Valentine's menu and the food was good but there could have been more of it. The dessert was very good though. My husband ordered meatballs which he was not crazy about and focaccia which was dry. His dessert was also excellent. The noise level was too loud.
Love this place always great food and service is great
The pepperoni pizza was very good, loved the spice. The Mediterranean pizza needed sauce as it was a bit dry and the sun dried tomatoes could have been better and the focaccia as also a little dry. Needed more balsamic and oil for the bread as well. Overall it was good but for the price I was expecting it to be a lot better.
I had the truffle pizza and it was delicious! It is hard to find vegan pizzas that are satisfying and feel like you are eating a real pizza, but this one hit the spot. I would definitely go back.
Fabulous food and fun staff! Thank you :)
Great service and food was fresh, and delicious. I would highly recommend this place.
I’m not a typical vegan restaurant patron but have enough experience to do some comparisons, and as far as I’m concerned this is the best....by a long shot.
Even better was the response when the server forgot an appetizer. The manager came over and apologized, gave us some gift certificates and a free desert.
I highly recommend this place not only to vegans, but to whoever is interested in great food.
Had only been open for 2 weeks as a plant based pizza restaurant. Use to be known as Kanu Cafe.
Sever was very new and didn’t know the difference between red or white wines, but hopeful that will come with time and experience. Was attentive so had no complaints about that.
We tried several of the pizzas and found them to be very tasty BUT the consistency of the toppings sauce etc was not very good. One slice would have everything to the far edge of the crust and another would barely have anything. For the price I would expect it to be more consistent.
Love the atmosphere and look of the place. Just because you are eating plant based you don’t always mean you want to eat in a cafeteria!
Loved the flavour of the food!
The food was outstanding. The delicious flavors and presentation really impressed us. Thank-you for a wonderful evening to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday.
Amazing food everytime . My favourite veg restaurant in Edmonton
Delicious flavor profiles. Chef Matt realaly knows what he is doing and the food is thoughtfully prepared. our server was delightful and helpful. The soup special was amazingly fresh and the toppings were a welcome surprise. The salad and udon noodles were very good and the Sea Change red ale was excellent.
It was my first time so I wasn't sure what to expect. I really enjoyed the experience overall. Some of the food was quite good, some not as much, but overall yes. I thought it was a little pricey perhaps for what you get.
Absolutely loved our experience. We were celebrating a special birthday. Our server was in and out from our table without disturbing our conversation. This was my 2nd time being there and I'm sure I'll be back many more times. I'm grateful we have more and more plant based restaurants popping up in our city.
Scrumptious and unique food, stylish decor, clean facilities, and attentive and friendly service. We couldn't have hoped for anything more. We'll definitely be back!
Really enjoyed the warm welcome as soon as I walked in. The cafe had an aroma flowing through it where I instantly knew I was in for a fantastic lunch. Service was professional, polite and playful. The server gave us enough time to actually read through the menu as it is large and diverse! Our server assured us that she would be happy to give recommendations and advice if needed, and when food came out she explained every flavour and how to best enjoy it (Ex. Squeeze lime to bring out other flavours in the dish) but she worded it naturally and better than the example. The food blew my mind, it seemed like the dishes were very carefully crafted and every bite had all of my taste buds dancing! Great job Kanu Cafe, I will definitely be bringing my friends and family here! Also the food presentation was beautiful and satisfying :)
I had never had a fully raw and vegan meal before - I had the raw pizza and was very satisfied. Flavour profile was complex, the bite was varied and delicious. They gave us space to visit and enjoy our food and dining experience. I would definitely return. Thank you.
The burger was great! Delicious vegan food. But very small portions for the cost. And the key lime pie was inedible for $13.50! We each took a small bite and that's all we could do. The waitress asked if we liked it and we said no but we still paid for it and weren't offered something else. Who puts cinnamon with key lime? And so much zest in it it was bitter. I would go again if a vegan friend insisted but there are better and more affordable options for vegan restaurants in Edmonton.
The service was incredible. They somehow knew it was an important date and left us to talk but were always there when we looked up and needed anything. What a perfect night.
We have now dined here two nights in a row and so had an opportunity to try a number of dishes. The food is exceptional. It is on a par with the best fine dining restaurants that we are familiar with, such as River Cafe in Calgary. Very tasty, interesting flavours, creative presentation, and healthy! Those not into plant-based eating are also likely to enjoy the food. It is also good value given the quality of the food.
One of the most unique and tasty plant based food there is. We had the nachos (recommended), gnocchi, and pizza. The pizza flavors were good but the walnut crust was falling apart and we did not really like the texture. Otherwise, I would definitely come back again.
Menu was limited, vibe was much quieter than I anticipated for a downtown brunch place on a Sunday
Brunch Yum!... Need I say more!
Nice menu with good selections in vegan and raw. We had the burger and of side of potatoes. The potatoes were yummy with tastes of truffles. The burger was so so. Needed more flavor.
Overall nice café.
Kanu blends fresh locally grown items to create mouth-watering dishes!
Excellente food combinaison. Various dishes. Fusion with fresh herbs and spices make a excellent marriage with all the ingredients!
I have eaten at Kanu three times now and it is consistently excellent. Kanu has been a fantastic addition to the vegan restaurant community in Edmonton, offering a higher end option. The food is beautifully presented and looks almost to beautiful to eat; it tastes as good as it looks.
I can't wait to go back again!
6 food lovers and good home cooks in our group; 5 of us first-timers; none of us vegetarian. All really enjoyed the food and our server. A real pleasure to have a restaurant like this in YEG. Started with Lemon Drop martinis. Shared a variety of plates and the Kimchi Dumplings were the favorite - so beautifully prepared and presented and delicious. Second group favs were the raw pizza then the mushroom soup and zucchini lasagne. This is labor intensive food with a commitment to high quality super food nutrition and artful presentation. We all agreed we'd like to return soon and will recommend to friends and family.
Delicious vegan food! Our faves were the nachos and the gnocchi. Not a big fan of the cacio e Pepe. Can’t wait to try more things on the menu!
The food is tasty, the place is pleasant, the staff are quite friendly, but lunch here always feels a bit overpriced. Recommended, but you shoulf check and be aware of prices beforehand.
Still a great experience and the food is fantastic. I do prefer the presentation of the hummus appetizer from two months ago. It had a lovely “eat the rainbow “ presentation of showcasing the best in vegetables. It had less bread and the smokiness of the hummus while unexpected was very much appreciated. The wine selection even during happy hour was well curated and a great value. Can’t wait to come back here! Staff as always was well versed in the selections.
The service was wonderful and the meal was amazing! Will definitely be back!
Delicious flavors from beautifully constructed dishes. I never missed missed having meat and I will return!
Fantastic food and service. The kimchi dumplings were a highlight!
Absolutely amazing plant based food and restaurant!! Will definitely be going back
This is an amazing food and takes plant based to whole other level...........
Such a unique menu with helpful and knowledgeable staff! I was intrigued with many items on the menu which made it hard to decide what I wanted to try; however, the waitress' knowledge of the food and suggestions helped immensely! The waitress was also so quick to cater an appetizer so that it could be more easily shared between my friend and I. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone as it has a cool yet sophisticated atmosphere, while having the most unique food menu of any Edmonton restaurant I've been to!
