Great girls night out spot before a concert, walking distance to great downtown spots. Great service and food was really good. Loved the atmosphere!
The dressing on the Michigan salad was a bit garlicky and spicy, and it could use more blue cheese. It was a lot of spinach. The drinks and burgers were great. The MSU game was on, so the restaurant was lively, but not too loud. We enjoyed it.
The roasted Brussels sprouts appetizer was fabulous! Great overall experience. About a ten minute walk from LCA. Will definitely be back.
Everything about our experience was great! Food and drinks were delicious and the service was great. Would definitely go back!
Tables open, but even with a reservation, put at an unset table by kitchen. My husband’s chair was actually blocking part if doorway. My burger was excellent. Every part of his $26 fish and chips was awful—batter not cooked through, ice cold fries, overly vinegary slaw. Waitress seemed less than enthusiastic.
Been here three times now and the first visit was great; food, wine and service. Last two times the service was so slow. We had events to attend and were almost late both times. I would go again, but not if I had to be somewhere afterwards.
Amazing experience, and a perfect alliance for a relaxing evening. Food was worth the cost
Gorgeous place!..Definitely a date night spot. Food was good..just a little salty. Grand Lemon drop martini was fantastic.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Then it got loud. Glad we were able to enjoy food, conversation and peaceful surroundings before the crowds came.
Best turkey burger I’ve ever had!!! I loved my cocktail with the gummy bear, too!
Service was good, drinks great... meal was disappointing for three of the four of us...undercooked
We ask the waitress to split our bill and at the end we had to figure out our portion . I made reservations and she acted like she did not know what I was talking about .
We had a great time at Downtown Louis before heading over to our concert. It was a short walk from our hotel and then over to Ford Field which was great. We were early for our reservation, but were able to grab a few drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The drinks were excellent, as was the food. I ordered a burger, and my husband ordered the filet. The potatoes that came with the filet were amazing! We would definitely come back.
We were there with a party of 4. Each of us had something very different and we were all very pleased with what we ordered!!! Delicious!!!
Great location, food and service. Near Ford Field, Comerica, Fox, LCA, etc. in a great building with ton of character.
I was visiting Detroit from CA and my date was in from Germany. I learned about this place from the Art & Architecture walking tour given by the Detroit Experience Factory...they walked us past it and told us about the Red Dawn history. When I pulled it up in Yelp, I was pleasantly surprised by the very positive reviews.
Our server was fantastic and let us set the pace (dining in Germany is much slower than here in the US). We started with the happy hour Crispy Brussesl Sprouts and wine specials. Delicious! We then ordered the Michigan Salad and the Prime Filet. Again - right on the spot.
The evening was romantic (well, up until 2 of the Detroit Rolling Pubs dropped in for raucous laughs and shots - thankfully they were gone within 15 minutes), the service impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. This NorCal gal and Stuttgart guy were very, very pleased!
Seated immediately even at 12:00 for lunch. Good food. Will come back.
Great place to go with friends and family! The Brussels sprouts and truffle fries are amazing!
This was a great find as we were visiting Detroit for a festival and needed a table for 6 at the last minute. The building has a classic nod to the Euro old world pub look. Inside is trendy and well designed. The service was attentive and the food good. The price for some items was a bit high based on the experience of its quality however I had a very good glass of Malbec for a very reasonable price.
Enjoyed it very much... was fun for the whole family
We went there before going to the Detroit Opera House to see Wicked and it was the perfect spot. A couple of blocks away from the Opera House and the food was OUTSTANDING. I had the risotto with mushrooms and shrimp that was cooked to perfection; not dry not soupy just perfect. The service was wonderful too. Great little gem in downtown Detroit that I recommend you go to if you get the chance.
I requested for something in making reservation and they said nothing or act like they seen it. Sever was sorry took up plates without asking is it ok. Didnt have any suggestions about food. I ask about special she said none but went to the bathroom and on the wall its a list of special monday thur Sunday wow stupid. Very disappointing
My group got showered with mustard from a waitress at a different table and her response was “please don’t kill me”. The salads were missing 3 of the 5 ingredients and half our food came 45 minutes late. The truffle fries were literally just French fries with a sprig of rosemary in the bowl.
Told them on two occasions that the ladies room had no toilet paper. They never did anything. Made a reservation and asked for surprise anniversary dessert. Never did anything. Service was slow and attention was minimal. It was not busy in the restaurant. Disappointed!!
The food was subpar, as was the service. The best tasting item we ordered was dessert - which was not prepared on the premises.
I thought Downtown Louie's was going to be more upscale, but it's your basic bar scene with average food. The staff is friendly, but the dessert menu is pretty lame.
Good for drinks and nibbles.
I've eaten here before, but it was after work for happy hour and snacks. This time, we came here before a show and the service was terrible. I made a reservation, the host gave us an option of where to sit. Our waitress didn't greet us for 10 mins. I had to get another waitressses attention, just to get water. Long story short the rest of the evening followed this pattern. We were rushed because it took so long to get our food. Hindsight, we should have just left. The only favorable thing I can say is that the waitress ended up taking one of the meals off our bill because it looked like someone took a bite out of the sandwich.
Excellent food and service!
We had to wait quite a while for our food and it was only warm when we got it. Tasted really good but would have been much better if hot. Wait staff service was ok.
Downtown Louie's has a nice atmosphere and good service. We enjoyed the tasty burgers, and great Reuben sandwiches; same with tomato basil soup and mac and cheese. Good fried mushrooms. The brownie dessert was very good - warm brownie and cinnamon ice cream - nice presentation. I liked the Transformer cocktail. Scenes from the Transformer movie done in Detroit happened at this location. We will be back.
Food was great. Our server not so much. I will try it again and hope for a different server, and better experience.
Food and service were very good, but a bit overpriced. Good location from the Opera House, Comerica Park and Ford Field.
Great Food, friendly staff. Great location.
We went there for dinner before seeing Wicked. Our server very nice and made sure our dinner was served quickly so we had enough time before the show. Food was very good. Perhaps a bit pricey for Salad & Burgers. But it’s the new Detroit Scene. Renovated building was very nice as well. Overall we enjoyed experience. On Wednesday’s there is 1/2 price wine night and 2 parking lots within walking distance
My friend and was recommended to try out Downtown Louie's and didn't know to expect. But the service, setting, and food was Great! We had the Turkey burger, Rosemary fries, and their fries Mushrooms. Everything was AWESOME!😀 We will be eating there again real soon and recommend them to anyone!😊
Good just wasn't very good. Little taste, dry chicken, burger just OK.
Great food and drinks - typical upscale "bar food" but reliable and consistent. Our service was great last night. We'll be back!
Visited for a pre Tiger game dinner. Food was great and service was timely, despite quite full and only a few servers. Very accommodating for two diners who are gluten free.
I have been here multiple times for business lunch. Staff is nice and accommodating, food is always good. I recommend.
Had very slow service and staff was unsure of many things
