Everything about this place was awesome, the vibe, the decor, the service and the food. We would most definitely come back here! We were looking for a spot that felt somewhat upscale, but not snooty and or too expensive and Downtown Louie’s certainly delivered. Can’t wait to come back this summer!

Fabulous! 6 friends getting together after being at the Fisher! Everyone’s dinner was delicious, appetizers very good as well. And the cocktails were perfect! I will be back!

Food and service was excellent. Bartender made a point to come over and deliver my Mint Julip. So nice! We will be back!

Better in the past. Food was fair at best. Out of Makers Mark. Waitress not at all friendly. One bright spot the manager? stopped by. She got our bill. Told her how disappointing the food was. Bill was adjusted. Will try again. Love the location and setting. Hope the food can be better next time and make sure waitstaff have customer service in mind

Have been going to Downtown Louie's for many years. Their food, service and price has always been consistently well done. Recommend to many friends and others for any occasion.

First time at Louie's. Found it charming! The hostess/waitress was so friendly and attentive. Asked if we were going to Hockey Game; and food/drinks came out rapidly. It was nice to sit and talk and enjoy dinner without having to rush. Drinks were good; happy hour nice! The fish was a bit dry on the fish and chips. But still very good. Brussel sprouts were AMAZING! I would of eaten several orders myself. We will be back!

We have been to Downtown Louie's in the past. This time, we could not have been more disappointed. Our service was slow, it was 5:30 on a Monday, we watched 7 separate parties leave because no-one was at the hostess stand ready to seat them, we waited 20 minutes for our wine and we needed to get up, out of our seats, to find our server. Unfortunately, this experience was a deal breaker - we will not be back.

Service was slow but only one server upstairs.

Second time I have been there and both times you have been out of the short rib. I guess I will need to pre-order next time.

Bistro steak was delicious as always. Our service was excellent. Had a great time catching up and the noise level is moderate there allowing for table conversation to be enjoyable.

Hostess sat us at table we wanted.
Waitress took too long to get drink order to our table. We had our appetizers prior to getting our drinks.
My drink was not right - advertised one way on menu and came to me differently. Disappointed.
We asked that one meal be split between two of our guests. It did not come that way despite the waitress saying that she asked for it to be done this way.

Overall, just minor things, but annoying. Food was generally good.

We were sat right away and our server was very attentive to us. The food was great. Turkey burger was a bit dry but the fries and brussel sprouts did not disappoint! In and out in under an hour which was quite impressive!

I ordered the fish & chips, the fish was wet and tasteless. Asked the waiter before ordering if it was fried and he said yes. It was sprinkled with very little flour and flash fried. Didn't like it at all. I let the waiter know immediately and he replaced it for me with the shrimp salad. Nice clean setting.

The diverse menu and beautiful interior were a sign of Detroit's rebirth. I had not heard of this restaurant until my more well-known choices were full. This was a pleasing surprise of a gem. Food was quality and came quicker than expected. Good sandwiches and great entrees. Drinks strong, too (wife's rum and coke had coke for color). Fun evening that went very well.

My wife and I took her sister and her husband there before a play at the Fisher. They did a good job of getting us in and getting us out. Our drink order was slow but the appetizers came out fast. We had the calamari and the baratta. Calamari was good and the baratta was ok. I had the short rib and it was amazing. My wife and brother in law had steaks and they were good but not Capital Grill. My sister in law had a salad and asked if they would grill some salmon for it and hey accommodated her.

Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly. Good selection of wines and beers

The atmosphere is great. The menu has a couple gems, but needs a step up overall. I would prefer more fine dining to bar and grill.

My wife and I decided to try Downtown Louie's due to Detroit Restaurant Week. After reading over the menu, we decided to order our meal from the regular menu and were very pleased with our choice. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the food when we asked her questions. Also knowledgeable about our wine choice. Overall very pleased with this restaurant and plan to return in the near future. Very cozy atmosphere. A lot of young people but we never felt out of place being a bit older!!!

First time at Downtown Louie's. We had reservations for 6 and waited only a few minutes. I would strongly suggest that if you go on a weekend you make reservations, they were very busy. Service was very good but food was outstanding. We will definitely be back.

Stopped in for an early dinner after Shen Yun Saturday matinee. We ordered from the Detroit Restaurant Week prix fixe menu. I ordered the oysters, the salmon, and the Italian cream cake - all very good! The pre dinner Transformer cocktail was excellent. Hubby enjoyed French onion soup and the cauliflower risotto. Coffee was unremarkable but ok. It seemed a little pricey, but the decor was new and comfortably inviting, linen tablecloths on the table, soft lighting. Our server Hannah took excellent care of us. We had a wonderful experience.

We went for DRW but decided to order from the regular menu. The Creole shrimp pasta and the Maple Salmon were both outstanding. The salmon cooked perfectly. Our server Melissa recommended the fried oreos which at first we were doubtful. However that was probably the best dessert I have had in a long time. So delicious!! Melissa's service and recommendations both were excellent. We very much enjoyed our evening at Dowtown Louie's

This will be the last time I participate in restaurant week. There is absolutely no value in eating this way. The oysters were okay, just okay. The steak was horrible, I could have grilled a better steak with a Kroger special piece of meat. The lemon cake was was also okay but nothing special. The waitress was nice and professional but I felt very rushed. The main dish came it before we could finish with our appetizers and the dessert cake out before we were done with our dinner, not once but twice. The first time we said we weren’t ready and the second time we were too frustrated to send them away again.

I've been there a couple times for happy hour and liked it. Went this time for Detroit restaurant week and ordered from the pre-fixe menu. At 6:15 PM on a Tuesday they already ran out of the only appetizer I wanted (Brussel sprouts). Seems a bit odd to run out of something so early and on a pre-fixe menu...

Cozy restaurant with both sandwich fare and fine dining items. Great craft cocktails, attentive service just off Woodward in a great part of town. Mezzanine level and high ceilings make a smaller venue seem very large.

Husband and I went for a Pretheatre dinner. I was extremely not happy with my dinner. The soup was cold, I chose the Detroit Restaurant Week $39 menu. I think they had it already ready for people to order from. Very disappointing. The dinner I chose, I was not aware it came with French Fries. The waitress should have informed me or reminded me. They were also cold. Waitress did not come to our table much at all.

This was our first experience at Downtown Louie's and we selected for the Detroit Restaurant week. We were NOT disappointed! The food was terrific and we will definitely be back. I will have to return to just have the salmon again! I had the steak frites and it was delicious...perfectly cooked steak and surprised at the size, since it being the Restaurant week offering....outstanding. The cocktails were nice and stiff and the service was exemplary. I highly, highly recommend and suggest sitting upstairs so you can take in the colored windows of the Synagogue across the way. Great job Louie's and keep up the wonderful presence and ambience in Capitol Park.

Was so happy to get last minute reservations. Then found out they had a Detroit restaurant week menu. We were on schedule for the theatre. Our waitress Hannah was awesome!!! The service was great. Drinks and food were perfect!!! I mean perfect. Loved the upstairs table looking down on the first floor diners. People watching!! Selections were varied and we got out on time too! Will be back with visitors and just a date night too!
