   Amazing attentive service. The presentation was very thoughtful and elegant. The rockfish was incredibly fresh, almost as though it were caught that same day (it couldn't possibly be since rockfish is closed to fishing). The menu comes as a fixed menu with 2 choices for appetizer and dessert, 3 choices for entree. No wonder it is almost impossible to get a reservation here.

   What a fantastic teaching facility! The student servers were attentive, courteous and friendly! The food was quite delicious and well presented, and they even provided me with a gluten/free dessert that was not on the menu! It was our daughter’s birthday and they all signed Happy Birthday in their various languages on a beautiful card that she would like to keep! Definitely a wonderful experience!

   The students did a very job of serving, and the food was pretty good. It was the last night, so it was crowded and very noisy, but a good noise as everyone was enjoying the evening...they did run out of two of the main courses which was not good...especially as it was only 6pm....

   Hard to make a reservation as the restaurant is so popular but well worth it if you get one. Food was delicious, the staff in training were very attentive. A great way to start the Christmas season.

   It’s a student run restaurant so there were some shortcomings.Our wait person was very nervous and at times overly solicitous.I don’t think they were ready to wait on tables just yet. The entree I chose came with a barley risotto instead of rice and it was pretty tasteless with a weird texture.The profiteroles for dessert were dry even though cream filled. Other than that the lovely dining room and good company I dined with made up fir the shortcomings!

    The front of house staff were very professional, helpful in describing selections, accommodating with special requests (like mint tea) and kind and generous. The birthday card for my husband was very kind and we are cherishing it with all the international signatures! A terrific touch that earned our loyalty. The kitchen staff prepared excellent dishes - delicious with wonderful attention to presentation. The combination of tastes on the palate were lovely. We were amazed by the quality of each course, served with such care. It was a memorable birthday celebration. Our gratitude and thanks. We wish you all much success in life and will be sure to tell our friends about Dunlop House.

    Food is always excellent and I love watching new servers learning their skills. My partner is extremely hard of hearing even with hearing aides, so when as I asked our sever to turn down the piped-in music, they quickly complied. A pleasure always.

    The only reason I gave the food 4 stars was because the vegetarian meal I had consisted of the veggies from the other dishes. In other words, the there was no "special" meal.

    Beautifully presented meal, 3 courses plus two amuse-bouche. Food was of a good standard, the tenderloin entree was excellent. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Characterful old house, well decorated. We very much enjoyed our experience and will definitely go again.

    I was very happy to be able to reserve a table at Dunlop House for two people last evening. Previous experiences have been very enjoyable. This time the service, ambiance, and special attention to my partner's allergy needs were all very commendable. The only weakness was that the pork medallions on one plate were obviously very over cooked and should not have left the kitchen. Overall a most enjoyable evening. We hope to return when the opportunity comes again.

    I have been going to DH for years and love the experience. My only complaint about the food is that the pork tenderloin was dry, overcooked and the food was not hot. I also did not think the potato ball with mozzarella was a good partner. The appy was good, {beets} and the cheesecake delicious. A soup would have been a nice option also on a rainy Nov. evening. I'll be back with my friends next year. Thanks.

    The meal was delicious. The fish cake was accompanied by a tasty tomato-based sauce. I was hesitant to order the ling cod as it's so easy to overcook fish, but took the risk and in fact it was perfectly cooked. The cheesecake came with several intriguing garnishes, including chocolate nibs scattered on a smear of caramel. Each course was well-plated, pleasing to look at. Dietary restrictions were cheerfully and easily accommodated with advance notice.

    Dunlop House is a training restaurant for Camosun College’s Hospitality program. The food & service is prepared by students. The food has always been excellent in my experience. The service is pleasant but can also be inexperienced.

    The setting is superb. It's a character-filled old place with great ambience. The service was exemplary. We felt nicely pampered. There were two amuse bouches, which were totally unexpected and wonderfully tasty. The fish cake appetizer was also delicious. We had cod as our main and were ever so slightly underwhelmed by the fish, but the presentation and accompaniments more than made up for it. The wine list was mercifully short, and we greatly enjoyed the Australian cab merlot. We would definitely go again.
