Earl’s is a fantastic looking restaurant. It is only fitting that the food and the service should be good. There was no obvious effort to hurry us through our lunch although the restaurant was full. Thank you for an enjoyable birthday lunch.

We often go to Earl's Ambleside for lunch. The service is excellent and the menu always varied. It has been less busy recently, which is nice to be honest. For those who know Earl's, this is an upscale version. Great in the summer on the patio.

Feel like they’ve really stepped up the food offering since I was last there. Lots of delicious new items on the menu. Our server Colton was excellent, each trip to our table was accompanied with his big warm, beautiful & genuine smile. Will definitely be back again soon.

Service and attention to details were great. We've been going to Earls Ambleside for years being locals and every year we also go for my daughter's birthday. She absolutely loves the Sticky Toffy pudding there. When I made the reservation last week I mentioned we'd come for her birthday and as soon as we arrived we felt welcome, they acknowledged her birthday and even gave her a handwritten birthday card which felt like an amazing attention. Service from Juliette was great! Our family is bilingual which was great to converse in both languages with her. When dessert time came, Juliette arrived with my daughter's favourite dessert with a candle and sang happy birthday to her. As usual, the food was great too. I normally never write reviews whether it's a good or bad experience but yesterday felt very special and it's important for us to let you know that the extra mile the whole team went made our evening extra special. Our server was awesome. This was the third time that we were served by the same person and very happy about it. We were so annoyed and felt disrespected as regular clusters by the person who received us at the entrance and checked our reservation. Initially she wanted to seat us in a location far from window and first refused to seat us at our regular location where we always are seated. I had to argue that. Her rational was that they has so many reservations!?!? So what, no one was there yet and we made one of the reservations. At the end, she agreed to get us seated where we liked but rolled her eyes 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️. I had to complain to the manager. Hope I don’t see this happens again. Thx

Overall we did enjoy ourselves while dining. The table was well situated and the server knew the menu well and informative. We all ordered the chicken with truffle risotto. It came with two breaded chicken thighs on top of risotto with asparagus. We were dubious the risotto was made with italian arborio rice. But it could be the longer American version. Seemed pretty long grained to us. The risotto was very garlicky. We found it had uneven flavours of raw and burnt garlic. The meal was topped with arugula and Parmesan shavings. We all thought the arugula was nice but distracting. It should’ve been on the side as a palate cleanser between bites but not mixed in. Don’t mix the salad into the risotto. So, I am ok the next day but both my friends had stomach issues all night. The risotto? The chicken? We did have fresh shucked raw oysters and the tuna tatami as appetizers. In any case, it doesn’t look like we will be returning to this restaurant. Note: We ordered decaf coffees after dinner. They only serve drip coffee. Had one sip each and left it. The coffee was tasteless and watery. We didn’t get charged because well, it sucked and they knew it.

Had the pleasure of meeting Adam the day manager who is super nice and absolutely customer focused! You watch him going from table to table making sure all guests arrive having a great dining experience! We had the pleasure of being served by Valentina who was in a word… AMAZING!!! So fun to chat with, made awesome recommendations including the new truffle chicken with risotto (soooo delish) and was so focused on ensuring we had a great lunch! It was really busy with a few waitress and very poor on service when our order (crown roll) came without chopsticks and nothing to put soy on it after 20 minutes the waitress showed up.

I normally enjoy coming to Earls, but was disappointed in the food yesterday. Most of us found our food was cold. Not sure what happened in the kitchen or how long it was sitting there before it was served.

We had an odd experience last night. Two of our party ordered a small spring salad and the add on of chicken. Salad on the menu is $7.50 and add on chicken is $7.00. We have ordered this many times in the past. We did comment to ourselves that the chicken looked large but went ahead and ate dinner., When the bill was presented, we noticed we were charged $14.00 for the chicken add on. The server was notified and she said the charge was for a full chicken breast and in future we should be more specific in ordering the add on chicken. This has never been an issue before so it was a little disconcerting. I am not sure how experienced the server is but there was certainly a reluctance to change the bill to the correct amount. The bill was not changed. Her name is Martina 497. Anyways I thought you should be aware of the situation as this is not indicative of Earls service.

I was a little disappointed with my experience last night. It has been awhile since I have been to Earl’s at Ambleside and I was shocked at how much the prices have gone up. I love the Santa Fe chicken salad, but it tasted different than the last time I had it. I was also disappointed that you no longer serve your Porter beer. It was quite cold in the restaurant and my friend and I had to put on our jackets while we were eating our dinner. When all was said and done, the bill ended up being close to $50 for a salad and a beer. Not very good value to pay $50 for a beer and a salad. Very disappointing.

The service and food are generally very good at this particular location and the management terrific! However, the last three times I have had steak (cooked medium-rare) at the restaurant it was tough and chewy and difficult to eat. Admittedly, it wasn’t a filet or ribeye but the usual sirloin cut. Still, I haven’t experienced such a problem with a similar steak at any other quality restaurant or steakhouse. I have mentioned this to management and hopefully the problem will be fixed. Until then, I plan to avoid the sirloin steak.
