Earls Kitchen + Bar - Fir Street - Vancouver
We had great service. Our table was ready when we arrived. I have elderly parents and the staff was very patient and understanding with them. Still the restaurant is noisy. Luckily we had a table in the corner
Our party of 8 has been meeting once a year at Earl's for 5 years, and in smaller groups for probably 20. Overall, we will likely go back again, if only out force of habit. Mostly we agreed that standards have deteriorated over the years. The space need a reno. The menu is OK but not as good as it was. Food portions were very small for a lunchtime event. POur server was very nice but they couldnt find a candle for a birthday desert. Maybe we will go somewhere else next year.
Experience would have been better if the waitress was more attentive. Barely saw her. And sat with an empty drink most of the time. Didn't also get to see my bill before she handed me the machine and it didn't occur until after I left that I probably was over charged also.
Overall great food and drinks, bad service.
Waited for server to come to table on many occasions
We had to wait almost 40 minutes for our drinks.
Also, my friend ordered an ice tea which he waited for 30 minutes.
Not impressed with this type of service. Especially being in the hospitality industry myself. The manager came to us with a look of nervousness and did not address the situation thoroughly. I am a manager myself and I would not have conducted myself in that manner and I would have made sure my guests would have left happy.
We usually love the food, but the portions were tiny and food disappointing. We ordered the new lobster tostado and could barely see any lobster on the small cracker it cane on which was a very spicy recipe. We had a chicken sort of appetizer that was also too spicy and tasted lousy. We then ordered a Caesar Salad with chicken. The chicken amount was very little, and “grilled” should have been called “burned”. The chicken was mostly inedible. Service was great, but meal was lousy.
We have been coming here for over 30 years. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ and now my office is less than 2 blocks away! Clients, Family and Friends this place is our comfort zone.
We arrived and were greeted and seated shortly after we arrived.
Server came to the table and took our drink order. She came back with our drinks and toon our food order. We waited for over 30 minutes for our food to come out and our server was no where in sight. We had to get up to look for her to ask her to see what was taking so long and she didn’t come back for another 10 minutes at which time my husband went to go ask again and then she came out with our food which was obviously sitting there because it was like warm by the time we received it.
Don’t think she cared because gratuity was automatically added since we were a party of 7.
Good place to have a business meeting. They are quick and food is decent
Love the food. My Ahi Tuna poke was fabulous. My wife's Cajun Blackened roasted salmon had great basic flavour only marred by over-salting-probably made worse by being a tad overcooked (dry) but we are ok with that but probably concentrated cajun seasoning to the point of saltiness. She couldn't finish the portion.
Background music didn't add to ambience-just made everyone talk louder.
We are a party of 4 (2 90 year olds with walkers, Mr K is legally blind) who dine almost every Sunday afternoon and often at least once a week and they have done so for several years before we began to transport them. I have started making a reservation to ensure we are seated at table 30, 31 as that is what works for the couple. Last Sunday (having made a reservation for 2:45PM) I was told upon arrival that I had reserved in the Bar area and the table was ready. I can’t imagine how that happened. Table 30 was just being vacated and the couple walked over to it much to the disapproval of the staff member. Most staff members have become accustomed to their manner and are very welcoming. Mr K pays cash and is a very generous tipper. I would hope this was a “one off”.

our server was attentive at first but soon disappeared. She spent a tremendous amount of time with a table ordering several bottles of wine. We ordered our drinks at 8:10 at meals at 8:20 and received them in good time. We never got a quality check but things were good. At 9:00 we ordered a happy hour pizza. Another server dropped off our order . This pizza was under cooked and tasted doughy. No one came to do a quality check, instead our server was found to be socializing around with some other tables. 40 mins later our server comes to see if we want anything else. At this point I told her about the pizza. She did offer to make another, but it was 40 minutes after receiving the first one. Instead we asked for our bill. She put the billfold down on our table quite abruptly. We paid the bill in cash and when retuning change, she again forcefully put it on the table. We were inclined to speak to the manager but didn’t bother.
Italian pizzas were not as good as they usually are. Very little cheese. The other members of group were happy with there meals. The two of us that had the pizzas were disappointed.
BEST wings I can name, just EXTREMELY disappointed that "Teriyaki" has been taken off the menu, it's (was) my favourite flavour. Also not happy to hear that the Thai wontons too are gone, say what?! Great service as always, very attentive and quick.
Consistent food qlty. Nice open space. Excellent service. Menu great for all ages.
Our server "V" was outstanding. Very efficient, attentive, courteous, professional, and a pleasure to converse with. Definitely hang on to him!
Food was decent - have ordered the ribs before as they are consistently tender and delicious. Our other meal was average. Earls has always been a place to go to. Service was very good!
Very comfortable patio sitting. I really appreciated the extra pillows they had around the chairs for back support, very nice touch. The food as always was delicious and service was very friendly and fast.
We hadn’t been to Earls for a while, but the menu suited the various dietary needs of our party very. Well. The food was tasty and well presented, the service was very good, and we had an excellent time.
Had a great meal that was very reasonably priced. Our server Liam did a great job of assuring we had a wonderful night!
Very nice! Gave us a free dessert for our anniversary which we did not expect.
All proteins - beef, chicken and salmon - were overcooked and very dry. I sent my salmon back only to receive it back dry again. Portions as well very small on the protein. My son had chicken with his pasta and it was a very small, thin breast and extremely dry. We were a party of 7 and for the money i paid it was an extremely disappointing experience. Your kitchen staff should take pointers from Cactus Club in cooking their proteins.
Very disappointed with their new menu and food. The patti on the vegan burger was hard and dry. The v Kung Pao vegetable dish the rice was over cooked and mushy.
Highly recommended it. Happy hour is great for food and drinks.
It would be great if we could make a Reservation between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.! We sat at the Bar which worked well. I asked for 'no beans' in my Santa Fe Salad and did have beans in the Salad...
All of the Staff were great.
There were 7 of us and Earl's was the perfect place for us with 3 vegan/vegetarians and the 4 others eat everything! Love your menu and our server was sweet and efficient!
Thank you ... the Reids
I would in the sense that it was good, but not amazing. Cactus Club is still has the advantage based on overall experience if I were compare a restaurant with the same business model.
An excellent evening from start to end. Reservation online was seamless and easy. Reminders were also sent. Jonny was our server and he was professional, courteous and quick. Appetizers and meals were timed out for service perfectly. Our meals were cooked perfectly and tastefully seasoned. This was a birthday dinner and Jonny made the point of remembering our birthday girl's name. Professional and memorable. We also appreciate that large groups like our party of 8 were not tagged with the automatic gratuity. The absence of the automatic tip will bring me back to Earls and the excellent dining experience will bring me back to this particular Earls.
Our order didn’t take long even tho the restaurant was busy. Food was good over all.
Soup was cold and the Cajun chicken was undercooked. The wine list is so overpriced, this is not the same Earls I grew up going to. Food quality is so disappointing.
Enjoyed our lunch, will definitely go back. Love the decor.
Great service, our group was large and loud... our server was awesome did an outstanding job accommodating us.
The food wasn't great. The server also poured the liquor all over one of us in the party.. Now his pants just smell like vokda. The server also took a very long time to get us our order and what we wanted. The server also was not very clear about add ons and what's included and not included in the price. Overall, would not go back. It's a shame because it was supposed to be a father's day celebration and the father at the table got vokda spilled on him as a result of his day.
Nice experience except we were seated at a table that was very hot - directly in the sun.
Wonderful service fur Fathers Day brunch....great deal too!
Josh, the server was great and very accomodating...!!
The Restaurant Service and Design of the location was great. My friend said her food wasn't really cooked. Thank you.
Were unable to sit us at the table we requested
Everything welll well for my family of five. We all enjoyed our dinner and particularily our seerver. He was everything one could wish for. We will be back.
Although I made a reservation for this visit for the lounge area, no one was being seated there with or without a reservation, it was strictly a wait for a table situation. I appreciate that it was a "Basketball Event", it didn't work out well as I never did get a seat, I sat at the end of the bar, there was no room for my friend so they cancelled on me. The chicken tacos were not good, the dry ribs were great as always! The beer was cold and the restaurant "energetic", I think the restaurant missed a huge opportunity by not putting TV's in the dining area that night, they would have packed that too! GO RAPTORS!!!
