Like many of the out-of-date motels in Jasper, the Jasper Earls must only be able to survive because of the limited supply. I've been to lots of Earls before in Edmonton and Calgary, and this one has always had the most informal and apathetic servers, but Covid has only made it worse.
The produce used in our meals was wilted and soft, and it seemed like the portion sizes / presentation was smaller and poorer... maybe because the standard method now is take-out, or because they've had to reduce portion sizes to make up losses during covid. In either case, we both left hungry and wishing we had just gotten pizza.
More concerning though, was the fact that while we were there, two families joined together to be a big table - 2 couples and their kids - which was OK'd by a server. I saw a woman who I assume was the manager pass by several times.
I guess that a big company like Earls can cheapen out on food, training for staff, and following the law to make it through covid... I wish I had just gotten over my desire to go somewhere "nice" and supported somewhere local.
Dinner with a view. Great meal awesome ambiance wonderful service
Great service, wonderful management! We had our wedding cancelled there due to covid and they made it extra special for us! We can’t thank you enough for everything!
We arrived at the restaurant and doors were locked due to covid protocols, a sign said. We did receive a phone call from Earl’s prior but no message was left as to why they were calling. Disappointing but not OpenTable’s fault. We appreciate Earl’s closing to help prevent the spread of Covid.
Earls have always been one of my favourite ..amazing ambience ,hygienic and yummy food 💕💕
The greeter told us there were no tables and they’re not taking walk-jns. Came downstairs and booked a table at 5:39 for 5:45. Went back upstairs and surprise.. there’s a table now. Pretty sure the first refusal to seat us was due to the color of our skin.
Food was excellent as always from Earls. Waiter was great and there was good spacing between tables. Great COVID awareness and protocols.
The Earl's breakfast is great value and so delicious. We had great service too
Our server was amazing. Unfortunately we didn’t get his name. We don’t eat out often because of allergies, but we really appreciated how our server handled our info. Great dining experience for us. Thank you.
Excellent dinner with great COVID protocols! Thank you!
Earls in Jasper did a great job with dinner especially in these times. Great job, great service and the meal was fantastic.
Great service , loved being out in Jasper. Food wa stood
Went with my husband and son. I ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich and it was delicious; my husband ordered the Cajun chicken fettuccine Alfredo and he loved it; my son ordered the steak frites medium unfortunately it came out blue rare but we told the server and it was quickly replaced with a perfect medium steak. Good food and staff
We made reservations well ahead of time and were put in the back corner beside the bathroom, it was freezing, our pizzas were over done and almost burned. Disappointed with the experience.
Earls is generally a good choice. We were celebrating our daughters 17th birthday. Due to COVID and the restrictions we decided to travel, and were staying at the Jasper Fairmont. We made a booking for 2130 and we called as were running 10 mins behind. We were told that we will have until 2145 to put in the food order. 2 people from our group were there at 2135 and were told by the host and then the server that they had exactly 5 mins to place the order. We walked in a few minutes later at 2140 and were told by 3 people, and host even emphasized by saying "Really I meant it you only have 3 mins". We were rushed to the extent that my wife and I missed ordering some items. As soon as the main course was served, we were told by our server that the kitchen has already plated our dessert (which by the way didn't look like what we had seen the last time). We were told that the ice cream will also be added soon and so we would have the dessert half way through our main course. For payment, the card machine stopped working and we were told I could pull out cash from a bank machine close-by. All in all, really poor experience. The food was good, the server did a good job but was also following instructions. It felt like a harassment. The bylaw could be driving the closing times, but I am confident there are other solutions. We could have been offered to order on the phone or just cancel when we called the restaurant to inform that we are running behind by 10 minutes. I was highly disappointed by the first poor experience at Earl's, generally it's always been nice. Hope this helps - Go in early and if you are running close to the end of day time, avoid going in because clearly this establishment focuses on their closing procedures more than guests who are there.
Earl's delivers consistently on their food offerings, client service and relaxed atmosphere. This week, while visiting for a few days in Jasper (first vacay in over a year) - it was nice to just be out and about. Lots of window and small shops to see. Earl's has a nice second level dining room and the balcony seating has heaters. Bother offer a bit of mountain viewing. We choose inside, next to the window. (could have done a better job cleaning smudges). Our lunch salads were tasty, plentiful -and the draft special was refreshing and cooled the spicy chicken in my salad. I removed one star for ambiance due to smudgy windows, back hallway to washroom and the washroom itself could have been a bit cleaner. Covid rules in place - but staff is friendly and attentive during this lunch hour visit. Recommended for a "better than pub grub" experience.
It was great and the non alcoholic drinks were amazing.
Great! Awesome food and great atmosphere! Highly recomended.
We had an excellent meal and the service was fantastic.
Nice thing about Earls is they are consistent and the food is good. We had a friendly and great server too!
I have been to many Earls and they usually feel high end and sophisticated. This one felt chaotic and was very loud. It felt like a pub ambience more than chic dining. Lots of big tables with tons of beer pitchers and the staff seemed all over. Our food was great and our server was awesome too.
When we sat down, our server did not come to our table for 20 mins. It took over an hour for our food to arrive at our table. It was not busy as there was a certain amount of people allowed due to covid. I did notice the take out food was going much faster then the dine in. Very dissapointing when you are spending so much on a meal.
Two issues: With covid restrictions, you have to be spaced a certain distance between other tables, they sat us at a high-top table beside the stairs, so as everyone came in to pick up orders or wait to be seated there head was less than 2 feet away from our table. There were no plexiglass barriers and so someones different head popped up beside our table every 1 min. We requested to be moved due to this issue and were given another table and told that table would be closed due to the distancing issues. Not too long after they opened it back up and people were sitting there. The other issue, we ordered an appetizer with our meal, patiently waiting for it to arrive when we see the four entrees be delivered to our table. When i asked the server where our appetizer was she looked back to the kitchen and said, oh it wasn't up there, did you want me to take back your meals.... a little ridiculous to have our meals taken back and sit under a heating lamp while they "find" the missing appetizer. You have to question the company when they aren't following covid protocols.
Excellent experience even with the restrictions due to COVID 19. Service was great! Food was delicious.
Everything was amazing from the service to the view, the only complaint I have was the steak was not good at all I spent more time trying to chew it than I spent talking to my wife. Also the vegetables and shrimp tasted off, I’m not sure what it was but it definitely wasn’t good.
Excellent place to bring my family for a great meal
Great food, atmosphere and service.
This is a well run Earls. The food is up to standard, and the menu has something for everyone. We had a brunch/lunch meal and everything that we ordered was well prepared and tasty. The wait staff at this location in Jasper is always very friendly and eager to please, providing service with a smile. Will visit this restaurant on our next trip to Jasper.
The food was well prepared and they had used fresh ingredients. We had the brunch menu (two different types of eggs benedict) and tuna poke on a bed of fresh spinach + mixed greens with some quinoa. Very tasty and satisfying. Our server was friendly, courteous and efficient with our orders. Will definitely go back here when I am in Jasper again.
Celebrated a birthday here on the weekend. Felt COVID safe and waiter was helpful and engaged just the right amount with us- not too much, not enough- just right.
Wonderful service - helped celebrate our daughter's 18 birthday :)
Great restaurant, we visit every time that we're in Jasper.
Always friendly staff, always great food
Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was sub standard. Chicken was over cooked and Fettuccine was not very good. Service was slow as we we waited almost 10 minutes after being seated prior to a server attending to our table. Far less of a great dining experience as we usually have in other Earls restaurants. This restaurant needs attention to service levels and food quality.
Earls is always reliable for a good experience. Our waiter was excellent.
Great service! Steaks need to be a cooked just a little longer for a medium well. It was still in the rare to medium rare stage. (I don’t mind it like that, but it was a little too pink for my significant other) Overall, a great experience and the rest of the food was up to par!
Excellent food as always, reseated us at our request to quieter section. Thanks again for the great service!
I took a reservation two weeks in advance. Arrive on time and I am placed literally where the kitchen is (next to computer where orders are placed by staff). It felt extremely tight and crowded and made me uncomfortable so I asked for a switch. The first person I spoke to was sincere enough and got me help. The second person was literally just a teenager with attitude. Wasn’t polite whatsoever and kept saying well it is what it is. There was many tables open and when we asked for one of them we were told they were reserved. We explained that we had taken our reservation as well, well in advance, to be able to not have issues and enjoy our evening since it was our first time in jasper. He continuously repeated that when you take a reservation, they hold a spot and not a table. So when we asked for another table, they just kept saying those tables are saved for others. When we pointed out the flaw in how they said a reservation holds a spot not a table they offered to speak to the manager and came back almost immediately saying “too bad”. I asked to speak to the manager and he was polite enough but at first came completely ready to deny to then try to help us when he saw how frustrated we were and upset. It should’ve been the other way around. As a manager myself, I find it important to help our customers before resorting to a stern “no”. I think our concerns were also legitimate not to want every waiting staff passing by us every minute during this pandemic while we try to eat our food. We ended up leaving and going to another restaurant. Extremely poor service, especially on the person who seated us and continuously gave us attitude as if our concerns were not founded.
Awesome experience! Happy hour prices are amazing! Food tastes great and our server was lovely
Our experience would have been very good, but your Open Table system failed to show that Earls was closed. Very disappointed in your system
Great. It was good to have a reservation as there was a line up when we arrived. Everything went perfectly start to finish.
