Earls Kitchen + Bar - King Street
We really like Earl's and always go there when we're in Toronto. The menu has good choices for non-meat-eaters and the service is always very friendly and helpful. It can be a bit loud at busier times, but last Sunday there weren't many people and it was quiet. We'll keep going back.
This was a birthday pre-theatre lunch for my husband and I. The food was mediocre (soup was okay but dry fish tacos and tough burger) and our server required multiple reminders to bring the basics (brought us our coffees but we had to ask for sugar, and then we had to ask for spoons and then she brought us large soup spoons that barely fit in the cups). Quite disappointing overall. Will be looking at other options next time.
In general the food was alright, but the service was poor. The waitress was unfriendly and kept trying to rush us to finish and leave.
The atmosphere and food was incredible. I had the Spinach and Cheese Dip and the Chicken Tacos. Both were very delicious! I was really looking forward to trying the Frozen Lemonade drink but sadly they ran out so I opted for the Black Ice Tea.
My only suggestion would be to increase the lighting at the booths. Our entire table of 5 had to use our cellphone light to read the menu. Also, I could hardly see the meal in front of me and had no clue what the toppings were for the Chicken Taco.
Great experience. Staff was great.
Earls has never disappointed, always meeting my high expectations.
very noisy. Had to yell across the table, which for the time of day I found very loud
I eat here 3/4 times a year - without hesitation. Good food. Good ambience. Good service. Good value. Yesterday, for the first time, we were seated in the upholstered horseshoes, next to the kitchen. Noisier. Less ambience. (Lesson learned: in future, I shall request other seating.) Perhaps the kindest thing that I can say about our waiter is that he is not the sharpest knife in the drawer... it's not just that he wasn't terribly accomplished at the task aspects of his craft, but he was a bit gormless when it came to customer connection .... the ESSENCE of good serving. [Don't worry, I'll be back .... but all in all, it was a bit disappointing - and certainly not up to Earl's usual standards.]
great food, good ambiance
Very attentive service, good atmosphere, was Sunday lunch befor Theatre, so not too busy. Manager came to table to offer to remake a dish that onions were put in by error after requested not to have any. This was handled very well. Friendly staff all around. Creative different choices
I had a group of 6 for my hubby's birthday. We had never been to Earl's, but SO glad we went! The food was amazing, the prices were decent for the type of restaurant it is and the service was great! Will definitely bring going back the next time we are in Toronto.
The food, atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Great location as well since it’s close to Union station. Our server was exceptional, always making sure our drinks were full. We will definitely come back.
Good food and service would reccomend and go back we were over half hour late on reservation and they took us in without issue. Thank will be back
I took a client to Earl's for lunch. I've had favourable experiences in the past but this time waited almost 40 minutes after ordering for the food to arrive. The restaurant was not overly busy at the time. When it arrived my food had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for a bit and my client's food had to be remade. The result was our meals came to the table at different times which was a bit awkward. I don't know if this was a server or kitchen error. At the end of the meal there was a mix up with the bill. Not a great day for Earl's.
The food was fairly bland. Attended pre-TSO show with a friend who doesn’t make it to the city often. She ordered the Steak frites, that we’re terrible. It looked terrible, and the fries looked and tasted like McDonald’s fries. She had to ask for salt and pepper for the steak. I ordered a Moscow Mule, which tasted like carbonated water. But the server was nice enough to replace it at no cost for a cocktail I enjoyed. My partner and I had the salmon bowl. It was tasty with fresh ingredients, but nothing different than you’d get st a salad bowl restaurant in a higher end food court.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Earls Kitchen on King Street. The service was excellent, drinks first class, and the food was delicious.
Service was outstanding. Food was hot and delicious. Nice change to the usual Toronto lunch hour which usually takes 2 hours for service to get there act together.
The service was not to my expectation...having to ask for cheese for a pasta dish, forks, side plates etc. It was a business lunch for 6 with a consulting partner and it was a little sub standard compared to other restaurants in the PATH.
Loved the Coconut Prawns and the dip that came on the side! Great service @Amanda
Incredible server. Amazing food. I had the marinade skirt steak. Fantastic
excellent - great good and service
Great service and menu. Very reasonably priced. Decent amount of business people out for lunch. Place was full without feeling crowded.
Ordered an 8oz rare steak, got a 6oz medium rare steak. Pretty disappointed. Talked to the servers about it and they were at first confused why I knew the size of the steak (I weighed it) and then they were hesitant to believe me. Finally agreed to charge me for a 6oz, which is $2.00 less..... Overall a disappointing meal.
Very attractive restaurant with a variety of seating options. Friendly staff, very good food quality and excellent presentation. Good value
I celebrated my 22nd birthday with a couple of friends at Earls. I booked a table for 8 on Saturday at 9PM. The food was super delicious and the Service was awesome too. It was my first time at Earls and I will definitely come back again!! :-)
My server, Niki, was great; she was friendly and responsive. Sadly, my meal was disappointing; overcooked and overpriced.
Great layout and ambiance. Host and server were good. Limited menu, but items offered were unique, well presented and delicious. Wine and beer list was limited with least expensive wine startling at $53. Normally my wife and I enjoy wine with dinner, but spending $75 for midpoint wine was a turnoff. Would we go again? Maybe. But there are a lot of other interesting looking restaurants close to this one to try first.
We were seated promptly for our reservation on a busy Saturday evening (pre-theatre crowd and Raptor's game night). Service was very friendly and efficient. Drinks and cocktails creative and reasonable in price. Our waitress was very friendly - asked for our names (never had that before) and referred to us by name for the remainder of the night. We found the quality of food terrific, service superb and would return again without worry. This was a very busy restaurant with some larger parties - but this never took away from the attentive staff at any point.
Wonderful wait staff. Hawaiian coconut shrimp was excellent and the Salmon Zen bowl was a great mixture of tastes.
Will return as they were very accommodating and the food and drinks were excellent.
Everything was fine but the servers could have been a little more attentive. My drink was empty for 15+ minutes. I probably would have had time to get another one if they had been paying attention and it was not that busy.
It was good but a little too noisy. The food was great and the drinks were amazing.
Great experience every time. Favourite brunch spot.
We had a group of 10 for dinner on Saturday night. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and there were a lot of options - something for everyone! I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Great service, great food and atmosphere.
This was our first visit. Cocktails in the lounge as we were early for our reservation. Lovely ambiance in the lounge. Restaurant was terrific as well. Food so yummy and our server was helpful with questions. Will totygo again.
Great value for weekend happy hour brunch. Service was really good.very attentive sever, pleasant and friendly..
Asked for more Wasabi and did not get any. The cappuccino was cold. Did not complain at that time as I was entertaining clients.
I wasn't very impressed with my recent lunch at Earl's. First of all, the table that they reserved for us was tight for 10 people and very uncomfortable(Bar area). If all we were going to do was drink maybe it would have been suitable but we were there for lunch and we had no elbow room and could barely cut or handle our food without jabbing the person beside us. The Cajun Chicken was brought out in some small cast iron pan which was different than what it's been normally served in a regular spacious plate. It was difficult to cut the chicken because of the depth of the pan and those that substituted the sides, they were brought out in small side dishes. If you tried to put them all in one plate they didn't fit side by side. We ordered coffee and they came without spoons so we couldn't stir it. Very disappointed in this recent visit.
They do not pick up the phone no matter how many times you call. We called to tell them that we were going to be late due to downtown traffic and to hold our table but they didn’t pick up. They ended up giving our table away and gave us a table that was going to be needed in less than an hour so we were rushed out. I really didn’t like being rushed or the fact that they did not even try to contact us about our reservation. This was for our anniversary and I wish it could have went better.
We went early afternoon, was not too busy, food was excellent along with good service would definitely go there again.
