Earls Kitchen + Bar - Test Kitchen - Vancouver
We were in town visiting from The States and we were so happy we found this place! The service was impeccable from the moment you walked in until you left. They had a really great variety of food to choose from - we all had different plates and apps and they were all delicious, presented well and the perfect serving size! It was really crowded but our party of 5 had plenty of room and no problems hearing our dinner conversations.
Great service . Table as expected when reserved . Server was energetic. Nice
Always love this place especially all the new test dishes !
Had a reservation, but waited 20 min to be seated. AND several other groups who arrived after us & didn't have reservations were seated before us...:( Other than that, service was great, but also had to wait quite a while for food to arrive...
Made reservations for 630 and was told BEFORE we were seated that we had to be finished by 730. I told them it depends on the kitchen getting our food out to us.
We ordered appetizers and main courses they messed up one order so we had to wait to get it remade. By the time it came we didn’t have time to order and was never offered dessert or a nightcap. We paid our bill then went down the street for dessert and a nightcap that bill was another $100 that could have been spent at your establishment. Very poor all around service
We reserved a groups of 6 in the lounge on a Friday night. We were seated right away. The first three of us waited about ten minutes before our server came to take our drink orders. And then it was another ten minutes to receive them. One of the people that joined us waited so long they actually comped his drink (which was appreciated) food service was quick and good. Our server explained the bar was slammed so I am guessing they were short staffed, as it is always busy on a Friday happy hour. Happy hour menu and drinks are great value with lots of choices. Our server was friendly and helpful, just couldn’t get the drinks coming in an appropriate time frame.
Yes, they had great food and great service. I loved the atmosphere and the worker's vibe.
The lobster is kinda salty for me. Not really comfortable with the sit that they gave me
Thanks for having a plant based menu. Makes Earls an easy pick for our staff lunches.
We had an amazing time! Kenzie did a fantastic job explaining the menu, as well as, explaining the Super Bowl Specials. The Cajun Chicken entree I ordered came exactly how I ordered it, it was delicious, and hot like it came right off the grill. I enjoyed the succotash instead of the potatoes salad, Thanks for the substitution. I would also like to convey my absolute appreciation for the accommodations, all 5 of us had a great time, and thanks to Mackenzie, you are a Super Bowl Champion!
Thank you for accommodating our group for late night happy hour! It was excellent, as always.
This is not my first time dining here, generally, we come here for their great value "Happy Hour". Generally, we sit at the bar and have always received great service at the bar, but as I was meeting other friends, we decided to sit a high top table in the bar area. The selection on the "Happy Hour" menu and price point is the reason we keep coming, despite the ever-increasing volume of music, it is unfortunate that conversation has to compete with loud music.
But what was unfortunate, when we dealt with our server, she was very friendly and fun, but she disappeared for long periods of time, not to be found.
Clearly not her fault, but it does highlight that Earls is very understaffed.
Good food, great service, and great prices. Went for lunch and had wonderful poke bowl. Real attention to detail without high prices. I would definitely frequent this place.
1st time atvthe test kitchen. We did order of the test menu but no one really asked us our thoughts about the meal. That's usually the point here to get peoples opinions on this dish before it is passed onto other locations. We went for happy hour so or was quite quiet BUT the music was quite loud.
Unique menu, good food and great service
Happy hour brunch is amazing. The prices are so affordable for both the dishes and the drinks. Service was great. Would recommend this to everyone!
The service was a bit slow at times, but overall we had a great time! We will be back!
We’ve been to Earl’s each time we’ve visited Vancouver. There’s a wide assortment of good food and drinks in an atmosphere that isn’t too loud.
We have been to the test kitchen a number of times and almost always have a great experience. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. Usually the service is outstanding while this time it was pretty average. Our server didn’t check in on us very frequently so we often waited to order drinks or more food. It was our anniversary so we were surprised with dessert as a nice touch- except that our reservation said that I was vegan and gluten free and I had already ordered my entree with such modifications. My companion enjoyed the dessert solo, though.
The Nashville Hot chicken wasn't spicy at all. Disappointing.
The host did not read the instructions I provided via OpenTable and we were not seated in the area requested, also we were seated in a difficult area to access my baby’s stroller. I am a repeat customer, but this was by far the most disappointing visit to Earls so far.
Our server Aya was amazing. She really went above and beyond with taking care of our group. Food came out hot and fresh. Had one small error that was corrected right away. Overall, a reliable place to come for a great experience.
Earl's is a well-known chain with an overall great menu selection for any type of eater, from paleo to gluten-free dishes to salads and steaks. We were extremely impressed with our Sunday brunch before going to a movie. The brunch options change regularly, the food was great, and the server was prompt and attentive. The value of the overall meal was great compared to other brunch places, and being the test kitchen, you will always find something new on the menu. Finally, if you are visiting for a weekend brunch and chicken and waffles are on the menu - get them. The waffle was crisp and delicious, the chicken was boneless (even the drumsticks) and breaded perfectly with a lovely cajun spice.
Everything was amazing although the size of the Happy Hour Margharita pizza through us off. It is tiny. Our waiter and service as excellent. I had a great time. No one rushed us, we had a really nice time!
Good food, attentive service, very loud though, hard to have a conversation.
Would go back readily.
I like Earl's in general but this location is way, way too loud. We asked to move from the general bar section and were kindly accommodated but directly in front of the kitchen. Unfortunately though, the small bench seat was so uncomfortable that I'm dealing now with sciatica and having trouble sitting--maybe those smaller booth bench seats need a makeover. The second area where we sat was also way too loud but unlike the first seat, we weren't able to shuffle closer together to hear one another as we were on opposite ends of the table. Even though the food was generally good and the service was good, for the reason of volume making talking nearly impossible, and for the reason of really uncomfortable seating I won't recommend this place. Even though I would not want to return there for dinner, I do recognize that for those who like a few drinks amid loud noise they would enjoy it.
Great happy hour menu!
Will def be back... lots of variations
Really enjoyed coming to the Test Kitchen location of Earl's. Serving staff was pleasant, helpful and attentive. Food was excellent and we enjoyed trying menu items from the testing menu through.
We made our reservations over a week ago and requested dining room and not the bar but somehow they made a mistake and gave us the bar!! We were definitely not happy about it and restaurant was full and they were able to locate a table for 8 people for us in the end! We definitely told the hostess we were not happy especially since we made reservations a week in advance!
They did however made it up to us and gave us free desserts and appies which was extremely generous of them we expected the free desserts but not the appies!!! Total of 8 people and it only cost $150.00 so that was a great deal and in the end we were happy customers!!! Thank you Earls !!! You did good on your error!!!
My partner and I went during the happy hour and ordered two 8" margherita, garlic fries, spinach deep and 2 sangrias: white and red wine.
Pizzas: used to be better, this time was a bit dry and tasteless, also the border was burnt.
Garlic fries: The garlic is just thrown on top, it doesn't infuse the flavor in the fries which makes it a bit strong when you just get to eat the garlic, guess in my mind would be similar to a truffle fries. Would not recommend.
The deep: Was good. But the bread that came with was also burnt and dry. A piece can get stuck in between your teeth.
Sangria: White was better than the Red, but in both toooo much ice. Basically, the glass was ice with some sangria. So, in the beginning, is good but after a while, the ice melts and is tasteless.
Overall: wasn't a great experience this time.
Service: Good, waitress was polite and smiley.
This was a very good restaurant to dine in. I wouldn’t care for the central section with the big screen TVs, but the dining room was perfect. Service was excellent t and friendly. And the food amazing.
We made a reservation on Friday for happy hour. We got there and it was busy but not packed. we were brought to our seat and the server ran over and was like hi I will get everyone water. he brought the water and then ran away. eventually after about 20 mins I waved him down and we ordered our food and drink, 30 mins after that we got our drink then about 30 mins later (an hour after placing the order and almost an hour and a half after arriving our food came) I ordered a salad and my sis got the pizza, it came under cooked and with cold fries we had to send it back. I understand that the bar and kitchen was backed up but it took me 3.5 hours to be served 2 glasses of white wine and a chicken ceasur salad. so disappointing, as I like earls and have gone there often but this was unacceptable.
It was very noisy in the area where we sat this time. We usually sit in far end which is much quieter. The food is always good, the staff do a great job. This was the first time it was very noisy.
Great food and great service, that's all you need. The Cajun salmon and swordfish tacos are amazing.
Good food. Cheap happy hour options. Service was a little slow, but overall friendly staff.
It’s always a pleasant moment when I come to Earls!
The waitresses are always smiling and friendly. The food is always quickly served and really good. I came with a friend who has gluten intolerance and the have a great choice of gluten free options.
Excellent setting and excellent food! It was unfortunate that we didn't get spoken to by a server for over 30 minutes, so we couldn't get the Happy Hour special even though we arrived with 30 minutes to spare.
Music was too loud could not have a conversion without talking loud!
Very good food and I was very impressed with the cocktails!
We split the test dish (avocado hummus with cauliflower fritters), the vegan coconut ceviche, and then I had the mushroom soup and my friend had the test kitchen Nashville hot sandwich. All of the food was delicious and even though the restaurant was full, it came out very fast. Our server Abby was extremely attentive and quick. The restaurant was very full and noisy, although I'm not sure if this is always the case or if it was because it was Halloween.
