Earls Kitchen + Bar - Test Kitchen - Vancouver
Earl’s Kitchen Test is my fav Earls. The atmosphere is great and unique. Happy Hours are amazing and the service is always very good.
Lovely food great service but very noisy -ask to be seated in the alcove area
Unfortunately the food was terrible. I had the blackened chicken with potato salad and coleslaw. The potato salad was drenched with mayonnaise, visually I'm surprised that anyone would serve a plate that looked like it did. The chicken wasn't dry however it was exceptionally greasy. The entire plate ended up soggy with warm mayonnaise and grease. I've had this meal a couple of times at other locations and never experienced a plate such as the one I had.
As we all know, it's not cheap to go out for dinner. When you're served a meal like this it's extremely disappointing. Unfortunately I will likely never got to Earls again nor would I recommend their restaurants.
Great service. Friendly and accommodating staff. Food was okay, nothing spectacular, just solid good food.
Wonderful, people were great and the food was delicious - I believe we were seated in the lounge and the speakers were a bit loud, but thats a minor gripe. Great night.
There was a putrid smell equivalent to a smelly rag used to clean the tables. The server stated several other patrons complained of the same smell. It disappeared eventually but lingered for a goo 30+ minutes. Otherwise, a good experience.
Our server Damian made our evening wonderful and so polite!
A dish was not very good, but was replaced and promptly. All good
The food and service were great. However, despite making a reservation with specific seating requests, we still had to wait 15 minutes and then couldn’t be seated in the dining room at all.
The place was very noisy. Very. It took a little longer than usual to get car service but the food service was prompt. The soup starter came with the main entree which was not expected but ok. The clam chowder was excellent. The lobster tail was very good. The Cajun salmon was definitely Cajun... a little too Spivey for our taste and dry. The sirloin steak was good. The serving staff were attentive and probably the best aspect of the evening. It was all good but we probably won’t rush back.
Yummy food... Awesome service.. Nice staff....
Went for a first date, was a little disappointed that we were not in a booth or by the window as requested. We were very close to the bar so it was louder than I would have liked and at a high top which wasn’t the best, we’re both short people and couldn’t touch the ground.
The food was good, definitely different.
Waaaaay too much ice in the sangria pitcher we ordered. My date ended up with a glass over flowing with ice by the end of the pouring and he had to scoop it out onto his plate to get the fruit at the bottom cause the waitress had already taken the pitcher away.
But the food was good and we had great chemistry so everything else paled in comparison.
The food was good, but it was very loud!
The food was ok, but nothing exciting. Server was helpful in choosing the wine. Shrimp app seemed like frozen breaded... dissapointing.
Nice that the menu changes a bit at this location, but other than that pretty standard Earl's fare. Service was below Earl's average on this night - slow and non-attentive.
Always have fun at this location but they forgot my coffee and I wish there were non-dairy milks available.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a couple of vegan options on the menu, I wish there had been more but at least they were there. Build the selection simply because veganism is not going away.
Was a great food
Really nice experience! They gave me a dessert for free for my birthday and it was a really nice detail❤️
I was there for Happy hour which was great! Lots of delicius food and drinks!
Ordered the salmon and it was overcooked. Very dry. Pale in color like it was farm salmon. If so, would not have ordered farm salmon.
Reservation was for a high top table but given a booth...service was uninspired. Food here is consistently above average.
I made a reservation 5 days in advance but still had to wait 45 min for a patio table which is a bit of a pain but after that we enjoy a great patio, fantastic view and Mojitos!!
Eggs were raw, bread was old, avocado was past ripe. Beans were cold, over easy eggs were hard, bacon was burnt.
The waitress could have checked in more, otherwise, she was very polite and good at making conversation.
Good food and great prices
A good stop before a show at the Orpheum Theatre. Happy Hour wine selection was passable but if you are particular, choose from the wine list! Dry ribs were a good size and the avocado toast plenty, even for 2 to share. Meals were a good portion size but not over the top, fresh and nicely prepared.
Amazing food, staff, & atmosphere. 10/10 would recommend.
The music was too loud and we left before ordering.
Great food just difficult to carry on a conversation as music was extremely loud and seemed to get louder as the night went on. Very hard to hear for a party of 4.
Had lunch at a supposedly quiet table (but not really) during a hopping lunch hour crowd. Table had water glass rings on it and did not look overly clean. Noise level was high so hard to carry on a real conversation and the room was very hot on a sunny day. Plenty of menu choices but food was only okay albeit quite reasonably priced. The margarita Mondays look interesting. There are much better lunch spots downtown fortunately.
i made reservations for a table with chairs as i am not comfortable in a booth , and we had a meeting with a total of 4 people. we showed up and they had us as a high top with stools. i cant sit on those, i told the hostess this and they said that a large party booked and all they had were these or the booths. it would have been nice to be contacted prior to check if that is ok. i looked around and found the tables by the window with the benches and asked if we could sit there. .oh yeah those would work.. ugh... i had to find the solution.
I usually always come to earls to celebrate my birthday. Previous years I had been to the location on Fir street and Robson street and was always well received. This year at the test Kitchen location, I was very very disappointed. I spent more time stressing about where the food and drinks were instead of enjoying myself. The table was still not ready when we came in so a few of us sit at the bar until the table was ready, which was very close to 7:15, but a little bit later. After a while, the server started ordering drinks and then eventually came back for the food order. We waited over 45 minutes for our food to come. It came at around 8:30 pm. Some of us were going to go watch a movie at the Scotia theatre at around 9pm and had to rush to eat our food in order to get there on time. I thought by having a reservation at 7:15, we would be served food by the latest at 8pm and would have the time to enjoy the dinner and more drinks and head to the movie after. Therefore yes, I was pretty disappointed this year as I love earls and have always had good experiences there except for my birthday this year. I'm not sure if I'll be coming back for another birthday here... the food and drinks themselves were good.
Todo muy bien,
I've been to a lot of Earls, but this one was a real dissappointment. The service was good enough, but the food was terrible. The Cajun chicken sandwich barely had any chicken in it, but half an inch of lettuce and three slices of tomato. It was obvious they were padding it out, as I've had this sando a lot and it's always much thicker with meat. The Caesar salad was also really watery.
We were there for happy hour but they didn't hold back on taste and portion. Love their Margherita Pizza !
We made a reservation on Open Table, and we were promptly seated. We requested a table away from the kitchen, and they politely accommodated us. Our server was attentive, and the wait for service and for our meal was appropriate. He asked our opinion about a new item on the menu, and he appeared genuinely interested in our comments. The restaurant is noisy, but we expected this. The appetizer Italian bread and the other food portions were adequate or large. The Hunan chicken was a little bit oily, the vegetables tasted fresh, and the entrees were otherwise well prepared. The carrot cake for dessert was dry and tasted more like a spice cake, but this was a test item. Overall, we did not leave feeling that this was a spectacular experience, but it was fine. We remember our friendly waiter, and we were satisfied with our meal. We would return again for a casual meal.
