Earls Kitchen + Bar - Test Kitchen - Vancouver
We love Earl's! This downtown location is our favorite. With everything going on and the new restrictions in place the staff did a great job making sure it was safe for guests and themselves. The manager went by every table and asked how everything was. Our server was attentive and personable. Food was delicious. My husband's nashville sandwich for a little messy and the chicken was a tad dry but overall food is always good here. I had the spicy watermelon margarita and it was amazing!!
Staff is very good for making sure Covid-19 protocols are in place! Food was absolutely AMAZING! and the atmosphere was good for a rainy Monday afternoon. It had music for background, but you could tak without having to yell at each other. Service was wonderful, friendly and polite. Always there to check on you yet not hovering around you. I would definitely recommend for nice afternoon out and ejoy the happy hour to try out the new menu options.

Vegan bowl was good
Quick service, pleasant server, made my son an item off the menu which was great. . Will visit again one day
Great experience as expected. Will definitely return!
I love the test kitchen so much! Great food, great wine! And the test dishes were DELICIOUS!
Went for weekend brunch happy hour. It’s great value for what you pay but the bread our eggs Benny was served on was rock hard and was like a cracker. That was fine for the eggs Benny, but for the Earls Breakfast you just got two hard pieces of toast with no butter. Earls breakfast only seemed to come with 1 egg so the portions felt small.
The service was okay... the servers did not explain the menu system or payment to us, but we were able to figure it out. They had bare minimum service and did not extend extra kindness or anything.
My birthday, although not acknowledged by my server. But I was happily celebrating with friends.
I am always impressed with the freshness and quality of food at Earl's but really enjoy the high ceilings and open layout of the test kitchen location
Nothing special. We were in and out in under an hour. The food was good but not outstanding. The service was adequate but not outstanding. Not complaints just nothing to rave about. Would choose somewhere else next time.
Enjoyed a great evening at Earls with family, truly felt like I was sitting in our own living room. Steak was cooked to perfection, medium rare as requested. Also enjoyed the curry rice dish. Chose the featured red wine and was not disappointed as it paired wonderfully with the steak. Have already recommended Earls to friends and family
Ask for two -split bills from four ppl, and three ppl. As was provided complete bill with 16 percent service charge. Waitress did not properly explain the reasons for billing a service fee of $53 +. One safety concern, lack of rule for patrons - no mandatory masks policy advised to be worn indoors, seated to table or when patron goes to restroom. One group when hostess had seated a small group - a person had breathe right into our space by leaning over (centre by entrance), lacked safe distancing for our table. We had been moved to another table afterwards.
Surprisingly one of the best steaks I have had at a casual restaurant in a long time. Had the 6oz filet. Felt safe, and that everything was being done to keep us healthy.
it was my birthday and service was SO bad, waited with empty drinks for 40 minutes, had to ask a different waitress to take our order and no one came to check on us. ended up leaving to go somewhere else when our drinks came out with glasses rimmed w purple lipstick, truly the worst restaurant experience i’ve ever had
Chris the GM was awesome. Great experience. Earls is making things feel as normal as possible in this crazy time.
appreciate the great service and food!
Prompt service.Server was attentive and answers any questions
Great place to go. Food was very good, we had a turkey dinner, and an impossible burger. Both were great. The pumpkin pie was outstanding. Service was good, very fast, very friendly. Dinner came out much faster than we were expecting given how busy it was. It was quite noisy there, but we were still able to carry on a conversation without having to strain at all. You don't realize how loud it is until you step outside after your meal, and realize much quieter it has suddenly gotten. I would recommend this place as a nice place for nice dinner.
Great service and excellent food. Salmon was so good!!
Pie was served quite cold, probably straight from the cooler. At the end of the meal, the server announced the amount of the bill aloud, provoking a comment from my guest. Normally I don’t hear the cost of the meal announced for the entire table to hear. Please show discretion. You can assume that the person paying the bill is capable of reading the printed bill and the screen on the credit card terminal. If there is any need for help, we can ask.
Always great service and consistent food.
Wine glass was very dirty - water marks, waitress said leftover sangria but it looked like a lipstick mark. All we started with was a glass of wine. Service terribly slow. Took about 15 minutes to take our order with 5 minutes left in happy hour. Our waitress said she was heading home and then we had no one looking after us. Asked the manager to put the Stanley cup hockey game on, never came on. I like Earls and I enjoy this location because if’s convenient to my home and office, but this experience was extremely disappointing. We didn’t get to ordering food, so I cannot comment on that. Food in the past has been good.
I ordered the Lobster + Prawn Ravioli. The taste was pretty good, can have a bit more lobster and prawn meat for the price.
Celebrating finishing an exam.
We all enjoyed everything from the attention to cleanliness/COVID guidelines to the meals!! All excellent!
We ate twice this week at Earl's on Hornby. Been here before but never wrote a review. This is their test kitchen and the new dishes I tried were the crab cake as well as the ahi tuna with avacado. Both were amazing! Their staff truly care and are well trained and love what they do. Love their menu and we will be back! Thankyou Rihanna!!
A little pricey for some dishes but most of their dishes you can’t go wrong with. Interesting, different things on the menu compared to other Earls locations since they’re a test kitchen. Nice that you can check and compare different location menus online. Sometimes loud during regular dining hours and the music can be loud at night but that’s to be expected or maybe I’m just an old lady who’s sensitive to sound.
We went there for happy hour around 3pm. The variety for drink selection is good, service is great and not as noisy too. However, are pizza is burned and crust tasted bitter because of the burned dough. We also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich which over fried and mostly breading. Overall, 3/5
Host was very rude when calling ahead on the phone. Staff were fine but not the most pleasant. Watched our drinks get brought to wrong table twice and bring wrong drinks to our table. Waitress was nice but did not regularly come to table. We got charged full price for happy hour items also. Food was lovely though. Seated very close to other tables even though lots of empty tables in restaurant - covid concern and tables next to us very loud. Will not return. Earls on robson and broadway very good though.
Lunch date with my son
Overall a great experience
Great safety protocols in place! Happy hour specials still in place despite COVID! Hope you keep them!
We loved the table, it was perfect for a party of 6. The music was on the loud side a little bit - was hard to talk with others than the person sat right beside me.
Service was excellent, food was outstanding. Stake was the winner for me (with truffle butter) and the lobster and prawn ravioli too.
We've had a nice chocolaty cake as we've had a birthday to celebrate - forgot the name of it but it was great to share!
The food was so tasty and perfect ..... just amazing
Many empty tables, but a hostess in a pink shirt decided it was time for us to leave. we had ordered a beer and it was still full and untouched, and she told us we have 15 minutes to leave because our table had been reserved by another guest.
The food was good but the service top notch from the hostess to the servers. Outstanding.
Louy was our server he was the best there are no words to describe his service... excellent- he was personable and very accommodating and very happy. Smile through the whole experience- the best !!!
Outstanding service and treatment by staff.
The food was very good, the service as well. They really stepped up on a day that we needed it. Thanks so much
