We reserved weekday lunch Omakase but time was running late due to emergency matter arised. The lady answering the phone was very kind, she allows us to seat in late. Unfortunately we had an afternoon appointment which cannot be missed. Ended up the chef packed the food carefully for us as takeaway. They normally don't do this but we were lucky! Thank you Edomae Kiyomi.

Had a great time and enjoyed most of the nigiri served. The scallop would have been better without the extra sauces. Some of the fish was a little bit less fresh than I expected for an omakase but at 55 dollars for lunch, I'd say it was fine.

came here for my birthday with friends! the $55 omakase lunch was so worth it. i usually don’t like raw tuna but the quality and the way it was prepared was so good! the squid and uni nigiri was my favourite! got a matcha tofu cake as a complimentary dessert too <3 staff were very nice and friendly :)

Food doesn't start till your drink arrives (just so you know ;) ) and it was delicious. The lunch menu was 10 courses, 1 soup, 1 hand roll, and the rest were onigiris - I love every bit of it from the miso soup to onigiri.

TLDR: 1.5 stars for dishonest practices. Advertised 10 pieces only serves 7. I'll start by saying this is not an establishment that I would recommend to anyone. The service was pretty good, exactly what you would expect from an omakase sushi restaurant in this price range. It was attentive and polite. The restaurant appeared to be neat and clean, consistent with most Japanese omakase restaurants. The fish used in the omakase were fresh. However the rice and use of wasabi lacked consistency. The lack of consistency was not related to fattiness or type of fish as one would expect. What really destroyed the experience for me was the shady actions of the restaurant as a proprietor. Firstly, reservation was booked a couple of months in advance for lunch that was advertised to be $45 pp. A couple of days before the reservation, they called to confirm and said price had increased to $55 pp. Fine - understandable given inflationary environment, but 22% inflation over 2 months is hardly reasonable. Day of lunch, we were served 7 pieces of sushi, 1 hand roll, 1 tamago omelet and 1 miso soup per person. I inquired that we should have been served 10 pieces of sushi based on their website advertisement. And they acted confused and rebutted by saying it's 10 course lunch not 10 pieces of sushi (they tried to say miso soup was counted as a piece of sushi). I pulled up their website and pointed to the clear wording. They said it was a mistake and should be 10 courses not pieces. It is clear that they not only increased the price but also decreased the serving - inflation and shrinkflation all at once. The lack of transparency and the dishonest business practices of this place is the reason I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I don't mind payment for goods and services when the seller has been transparent and upfront about what I would receive. But it is not acceptable to defraud your customers. Oh and bonus - auto gratuity of 15% added to bill despite it all.

I specifically requested not to have eel when I made the reservation, but lo and behold there was eel sushi. I couldn’t eat it as i am allergic. The quality of food was overall good, with the toro truly exceptional.

The food was amazing. I could not ask for anything else in regards to the service. They even brought out a cute tofu cheesecake dessert for my boyfriend's birthday as I had mentioned it in the notes that we were there to celebrate. I already have plans to go again to experience the other omakases!!

It was our first time here. We went for their lunch special. Service was good. I would say you pay for what you get, in terms of the price and the quality of the fish. I can only comment on the lunch special since I have never been to the dinner service. We found that some of the sushi on this day were slightly overly brushed with soy sauce. I don’t think there was any wasabi inside as well. It would have been nice if they told you if there was any inside or not. I kept thinking it was inside so I never added any on top. ☹️ It was a nice touch at the end as they presented us with a complimentary dessert as we were celebrating a birthday. 😁 Overall the lunch was filling. The chef was professional. I would say definitely come for the lunch special if you want to experience Omakase at a reasonable price.

New restaurant even though it was first opened just before COVID hit. Very authentic and delicious food- they really want to make you happy there- though service can at times be too attentive as the hover if they are slow. It is clean and a fun dining experience watching a master Sushi chef create his art behind the counter. I recommend this place for a date or if you are a connoisseur of great sushi.

This is one of the best places in Toronto to have sushi and tempura as well. The fish and seafood are really fresh and there is a wide variety of it included in the course. The counter service is a special treat as the chef makes the sushi right in front of you. Dining at Edomae Kiyomi is a delightful experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys eating the very best of sushi.

Came in to celebrate our anniversary at one of our favourite restaurants. The food is always so delicious and delicate. A lot of attention to detail and service is very attentive. They gave us a complimentary dessert at the end of our meal which was super nice of them to make our experience so memorable. Will definitely be back.

Over priced for the value. Sushis are tasty and good, rice ok, shape ok but the appetizer sashimi set was dry and smelly. Overall, the value was half price value. The guide chef was too quiet, just serving. Omakase sushi chefs normally explain about the food they serve like what is the best way to eat, what is it it, what kind of flavor is from what and so on. The chef didn’t say anything when we leave the restaurant. I feel so bad about his attitude.

I just had my worst Omakase experience in Toronto. Firstly, the course I booked was the tempura omakase. It was only after we started eating that I realized we received the sushi omakase instead. I asked the waitress why we were served the the wrong course and was then told we were accidentally put on the wrong course list. We decided to overlook the mistake and continued with the sushi course. During the two hours of the meal, the teacup was only refilled once during the entire meal and remained empty the rest of the meal, completely ignored by the waiting staff. After our soup course, the waitress only took away my friend's bowl and left my empty bowl on the table until the sixth course after it. A piece of kelp was lying on the table the entire time, the Waitress did not even attempt to clean any thing during the dinner. Regarding the ingredients, the shellfish were soft and not fresh, and the eel sushi was not properly deboned. After dinner, I waited for the dessert for nearly half an hour. I kindly told the waitress that today's dining experience was as not expected, but she responded in a defensive tone with a look of disbelief on her face that she received a review less than superb, "Oh? What did I do wrong?” The lack of awareness, coupled with an unapologetic attitude rubbed me the wrong way so I made myself clear regarding the quality of service I’ve received. The waitress’ tone became hostile, ”ok so what do you want?” I immediately said I didn’t want anything, but wanted to bring to attention the negative experience we received during our meal. She then just left the table with a terrible attitude and zero apology. When the payment machine was handed to us there was no dinner amount entered in, we had to enter everything in by ourself. Avoid this restaurant at all cost

Rice was too moist and mushy. For an expensive omakase experience I'd expect it to be made correctly. Servers need to learn proper serving etiquette. Please do not serve every single glass by touching the top of each glass/bottle where the mouth goes. Also forgot to bring soy sauce when asked for. It is definitely worth it as you get lots of food and a cash discount and if they improve on these things it will be even better. I had a great time regardless.
