Feb 17 @ 6pm Everything was great - service, food, ambiance. The greeting at the front by the hostess almost made me want to spend my money elsewhere. We were 15 minutes early for our reservation and I suggested to the hostess that we could sit at the bar until our table was ready. She seemed annoyed by my suggestion, crisply stating that our table was ready. No smile, no nothing. Not sure if I would bring friends here due to the uncertainty of the greeting, but my hubby and I will be back for the great food. Just have to get past the grouch at the front door.
The food and service were fantastic. I will definitely be back to try more dishes! Plenty of very attentive staff members always keeping our water glasses full and ready to take our orders at any time.
Could use more vegan / vegetarian options. The drink options are VERY good.
Enjoyed the tacos but the mushroom nacho thing was not good. We got there at 5:30 ordered one drink and a small appetizer. Decided on more happy hour drinks and appies but the waitress didn't come back again to the table until 6:01 and said we couldn't get anymore at happy hour prices. Wished she would have come back for last call for Happy Hour at 5:55pm.
Great food and live music! You should also try their hot sauce
Service was slow, took 20min to get our drinks.
Had the Chile rellenos and was disappointed, it was a stack not a relleno dish, if your going to do a stack at least put that on the menu.
Also the dishes had green rice no beans which is fine but again if your going to do vegetarian you should have a complete protein eg beans and rice. So over all not very impressed, classics are classics for a reason
My husband and I came for the Dineout 2018 menu. All dishes ordered were wonderfully presented and extremely flavourful, a great modern take. Latin American cuisine (particularly Mexican) is our hands-down favourite and El Santo did not disappoint. The service was great too, especially for a very busy Saturday night. We cannot wait to come back! I NEED to try the tacos al pastor on my next visit!
We went for lunch on a Saturday with our 6 month old baby and thought the experience was amazing. The food was to die for and the drinks were great too!
went for dineoutvancouver menu. did not disappoint from start to finish...mexican fine dining taking even the basic up more than one notch. space is a gem and ambient, service thoroughly knowledgeable & on point. live music to boot. this is one to return to :)
Great New Westminster Gem! Food was fantastic, along with the live music. Service was mediocre, our servers opening line... What can I get you. She wasn't very attentive which made it difficult to order more wine everytime we were out. She walked by my empty olass many times but never offered a new one. Will be back for sure !
Went for dine out Vancouver. Rice served was very hard - ruined the meal
Really enjoyed the Chili Relleno. Great service. Only downside was the music was a tad loud for conversation.
Very inventive and tasty menu; the egg in masa was amazing; the Kobe beef was tasty but tough which was a surprise to me, and the portion was not value for money with just 5 very small pieces. Lunchtime weekday servers need to be aware of time limitations for most people (office workers) and get the orders in quicker. Otherwise a great experience. Would go back.
My husband and I went to El Santo for Dine Out Vancouver. It was really nice! I liked the atmosphere (albeit a little on the loud side - they did have a live jazz band that night) and the food was delicious. They have one of the better margaritas available (just tequila, lime and triple sec - the way it's supposed to be!) and some other interesting tequila-based twists on classic cocktails. We'll definitely go back to explore the rest of the menu.
Been meaning to try El Santo for ages and Dine Out Vancouver was the perfect excuse! The food was delicious and beautifully made, and the server took great care of us in this fun and busy place. They served me the best Old Fashioned I've ever had (Oaxaca Old Fashioned). Loved the gender neutral luchadore-masked washroom signs.
We hit up El Santo for Dine Out 2018, and the carnitas de jabali were beyond delightful. This place is one of my go-tos when I'm craving authentic Mexican food – it's a delightful gem serving classic tastes crafted with quality ingredients and a real care for its culture.
Great Service from Chris! He helped us with menu choices and made sure we always had what we needed. There are a variety of flavourful food choices and most are made to share.
We were there for Dine Out Vancouver and were really impressed with the quality of food as well as the creativity of the menu. We are coming back for sure.
Great night wish the brown wicker lamp shades where higher though I banged my head and so did a few others in our area.
We went for Dine Out Vancouver. Everything we ordered was delicious!
We went for dine out and to try a variety of dishes. They were very tasty and not the usual dishes. It would be a great happy hour choice!
We really enjoyed the Dine-out menu. Our server was very friendly and the portions were generous. I had a very interesting cocktail and my husband appreciated the mezcal selection.
Creative selection of menu choices . Excellent food with a casual ambiance. We love el santo and return often.
Had an excellent experience at el Santo. The decor and live music was great. The food was delicious and the dessert (homemade churro) was amazing.
We came here for the Dine Out Vancouver prix fixe menu. It took a little too long from when we were seated until our drink order was taken, but other than that the service was excellent. Our waiter was a real character and was fun to interact with.
The food was very good, and nicely presented. I've been to El Santo on a few occasions but have only had their tacos and brunch before, so I was eager to try some dishes more unique to the restaurant. The food did not disappoint. Portions were on the small side, but no more so than any other high end casual fare.
We went here for a Dine-Out date night and the food was great! The service however wasn't top notch. They were very slow, friendly enough but slow. I'm not too sure if this is a regular thing or because it was Dine-Out. I would definitely be willing to give them another try since the food was so yummy.
El Santo is definitely a New West gem. Every visit is equally amazing. Delicious food, drinks, and all around good vibes. We will be back!
My first time there and expected big things....the food was good but found the service lacklustre - waited 20 minutes before someone came over to formally greet us and that's after we asked the maitre d that we need a server. Also there was a table behind us who came after us but was served first.
We decided to go somewhat last minute, got a seat at the bar and had a great meal. The food was excellent and the staff amazing and helpful. Will definitely be back.
