We are excited to announced that el Santo was recently awarded best latin restaurant in Vancouver by Vancouver Magazine.
Friday & Saturday: 11:30 am – 11:00 pm;
We celebrated two birthdays, one anniversary and father's day that evening. Our food was delicious and the service was outstanding. We will definitely come back.
Excellent good, and excellent service. I will be going back regularly. Good happy hour menu!
We went their for Father's Day and the brunch was delicious. We topped our meals up with the churros and I think these were the best churros I have ever eaten.
A gem in new west. Everything is absolutely delicious.
This is one of my favorite restaurants by far. The food is always amazing, the service is second to none and they make great cocktails. I'm there all the time. The live bands on the weekends are a nice touch as well. It makes for a really lively atmosphere.
Wonderful Food! Great cocktails! Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was very good. Perfect for an evening out with friends.
Food was good but portions are small. Check with the server about how many people a specific dish realistically feeds before you order. I got the carne asada plate which was supposed to be good for 1-2 ppl...and I'd consider it a large appy size for one person (definitely not worth the price). The live music is fantastic though, I'd definitely come back for the ambiance.
Service was great. The cornbread is to die for. The fresh juice is really good. I got guava and it tasted great. The trio Salsa is also amazing and made in house. Will definitely come back.
I went to El Santo the first time for dine out 2018 and I've been back 4 times in the last few months and it has firmly cemented itself as my favourite restaurant in New West. Everyone I've brought with me or sent to try have also been thoroughly impressed, so it's also a place I take people I want to impress. The atmosphere is so cozy and lively, the staff are brilliant, fun, and attentive, and the food and drinks always knocks my socks off. Try the El Santo Huevo (like a scotched egg, great to share between two people as a starter, or eat the whole delicious thing) and the Oaxaca Old Fashioned (wow, best Old Fashioned; the mezcal gives it a wonderful smoky finish) and always ask about the daily specials (the chef is incredible and come up with such amazing flavours and textures!). I've never had anything less than fantastic, even the soups are really interesting (garbanzo soup with coffee roasted carrot and cheese? Wow!) and so delicious (this coming from a person who doesn't usually go for soups). I also love the luchador signs for the washrooms. Go to El Santo, you will never regret it.
Was there about 6 months ago and the place was amazing. Was back last night and something felt very different, not the same vibe or crowd. The live band stopped at 9 and the place went kinda flat. We came because we knew a band would be playing. Oh well. Not sure about coming back.
I took my friend from other city and we felt like it was a waste of our time and money. This restaurant was one of my favorites until this visit. They have (had) good authentic Mexican food.
Unfortunately, for this visit, all dishes were too salty. I couldn't really taste anything but saltiness. The Mexican coke saved me. I am not sure if they have different cook now; but, I was disappointed because when the server asked how the food is, I had to tell her that the dishes are too salty. All she told me was that, "I will tell the kitchen and let them know" and we paid over $20 + tax+tip for each person to have salts. I honestly, felt sorry for my friend to have him had the food for nice Saturday dinner.
The only negative was it was very noisy when you are trying to talk. I was with a small group of friends and we get together a couple of times a year to catch up with each other and it was very hard to hear the conversation..
The food was delicious I had a started with The Tijuana which is grilles romaine heart's and to share had Pescado a la Veracruz which is rockfish with capers and olive and a side of green rice (picture was too big to be uploaded!?) And I tried for drinks the Paloma which i liked
Great food, they brought different flavours to Mexican classics. It’s fresh and bright food with good spice level. Also their tequila selection is outstanding.
Place is awesome - just go...you won’t be disappointed (authentic margaritas on the rocks/great beer on tap)! Food was amazing - they even have a kids menu which was a surprise seeing as the ambiance was so cool. Service was beyond excellent & the owner even came up to chat. Winner of a place!
Fantastic night out, service was on point (thanks Liz) food was tremendous..another awesome night at El Santo!
Meeting friends and celebrating their anniversary.
Decent place for a gathering, though portions are small.
Excellent and pricey. I'm assuming this is upscale contemporary Mexican cuisine.
Great experience for Mother’s Day dinner. Family of five including kids, plenty of food for all ages and attentive service ++. Innovative twist in Mexican cuisine
Went for Mother’s Day and was very impressed. Complete with a two piece band and a flower for the Moms on the way out.
The food was good. It was brunch, so nothing earth shattering and the portions were a little small, but overall a good meal.
There is nothing bad on this menu. Ever
Very good food and drinks although generally overpriced. Our server was very helpful with recommendations.
Had an entire tray of salsa spilled on my friend and not even an apology was offered. Also disappointed by a cake cutting fee for a birthday cake.
The rock fish ceviche and the trio of guacamole were perfect. and, in fact, was enough for us for our meal.
The service was terrible, you had to practically beg for your server to come back. The drinks came after the food. The food was fine but nothing special, definitely not worth the price. Drinks are very overpriced. Not worth it at all. We won’t be back.
Food and service are good here. You can just drop in for a margarita and a taco or go all out.
Its a great place for a drink, did not try the cocktails but they looked really good. Good selection of Mexican beers as well as a great selection of Tequila and Mezcal.
Now for the food, I was not expecting authentic and sure its a modern take on Mexican ingredients, some that you don't really see anywhere else which was a great surprise. With that said, we did not feel some of the items worked out together and no beans in a Mexican place was previously unheard of.
We'll most likely go back as its refreshing to see non chain innovative places but will probably stick to drinks and appetizers/tacos not necessarily for dinner.
I always enjoy my meal at El Santo, you can't go wrong with any meal option!
This is one of the best Mexican Restaurant we have tried so far. As we being from the same country we could say El Santo have the taste of Mexico in its dishes! Excellent Service. We widely recommend El Santo, great place to enjoy a unique Mexican food.
Great food, atmosphere and service.
A lot of Bones in the fish tacos was a disappointment, waitress inattentive at times
Wonderful food, waitperson uninformed, VERY noisy, no ambience, was expecting at least a nod to a Latino influence, overpriced. The other Mexican restaurant we frequent fed four for what we paid for two. The waitperson was asked "what do they add to the Dulce de Laiche (which came with the Churros) to make it thinner" the answer was "condensed milk and caramel"??????
Good service, nice ambience, fantastic food! Haute cuisine Mexican, not the place to go if you're looking for standard burritos and nachos. Everything we had was superb. Worth the price. Make sure to try the salad starter - delicious.
Busy night but the food is always delicious!
Awesome menu.. Can't wait to go back to try more items.
Shared plates ideal, chilli rellenos, fish, cornbread , salsa trio and chips , tacos ...all very well seasoned, not too hot, the tapenade was perfect ... even tried both deserts.
Kudos to chef Sam Fabbro and his team.
Our table tried 3 different dishes over brunch last Saturday. Each was an outstanding and creative take on breakfast classics, served in piping hot individual cast iron skillets. The costillita benedict has reset the bar for eggs benny! The crunchy corn bread baked on the cats iron skillet was the perfect base for the ancho braised short rib and the chipotle hollandaise.
The place was pretty quiet on a Saturday morning at 11:30, but word is that it gets jumping for dinnertime. We will be back!!
Awesome food and great service ! My wife and I had a great evening!
Attentive staff, fresh and flavourful food, and nice ambiance. Only our second visit, but consistently good. We will return!
Creative and interesting menu, food was delicious. Quite small portions, particularly for the sharing menu - if you're at all hungry, get at least one sharing plate per diner. Service very friendly but slow (we wondered if they were training a bunch of new people). Quality and price both high. We'd go back.
The food was fun and tasty. The drinks were good also but the table was very small and wasn't large enough to hold the share plates along with the drinks. The lighting was very dim and the noise level was very high which made it difficult to see the menu and hold a conversation. But the live music was fantastic.
