We are excited to announced that el Santo was recently awarded best latin restaurant in Vancouver by Vancouver Magazine.
Great service, great food. Happy to have found an authentic spot not so far from our house. A bit loud but that means people are having a great time! Highly recommend it. Drinks were great as well!
Loved everything! Went for a Valentines date night. We will be back - so many things we want to try!
Amazing food and service! The tacos were delicious and the atmosphere of El Santo was very enjoyable!
It wasn’t bad food, but the service was slow and unorganized. It was a Thursday night, busy and unorganized.
We arrived early for lunch and the staff let us in 5 minutes early and it was very much appreciated for a horrible rainy day. French press coffee was delicious and the between the 5 of us, we had the fish tacos, chicken tacos, a beef cheeks sandwich, and what looked like a vegetarian lasagna, sorry, I don't remember the name. All the food was outstanding and there was lots of it, prices were reasonable and the group overall thought it was a fabulous gem of a restaurant. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Enjoyed the food it was very flavorful. The French Press coffee was outstanding. The one issue with our reservation for 6 is that we were seated in a booth really made for 4. We did reserve in advance.
Excellent Mexican food with a flair!
The duck that we ordered wasn't really warm. It feels like the plate was prepared but took a while to be delivered to the table. Startes were good and desserts were nice.
Excellent Mexican cuisine with pleasant and attentive Service.
We had a lovely brunch, the service was great, although I will say it took a long time to get our food out and it was not busy when we arrived, that would be my one piece of feedback, we waited almost an hour I would say for our food to come out. Thank you so much!
By far some of the best Mexican cuisine I’ve tasted in ages. Clever, sophisticated menu with immense flavour and creative touches. The drink menu is EXCELLENT, I had the margarita chida and it was one the best I’ve ever had! Plus little pineapple habanero marshmallows instead of dinner mints, holy smokes they were tasty! Great Coffee! Service was top notch too, you gotta try this place!
It is good when a restaurant does not force everyone at the table to do DOV just because one person wants to do that.
This was by far, the best eggs Benedict I have ever had. Braised Short Rib on cornbread.
I have had lunch at El Santo many times too. The fish tacos are amazing! So happy to have such an outstanding restaurant in New Westminster.
I really liked the food. We had a good variety of things. I’ve been twice and flavours have been consistent. The servers are friendly and your water glass never goes empty.
I loved the appetizers from dine out, but the entree and dessert was not done well.
I had the beef tongue and trio of salsas for appetizers. They were amazing. I was saddened that they were low on tortilla chips, as we had to wait quite a while for a second round as they are made in store. Worth it though!
I had the duck and beets for an entree and it was not great, very salty in my opinion.
For dessert, the whole table ordered the churros, but unfortunately they were very overcooked. They were extremely hard, and we commented to our lovely server as well to ensure she passed the feedback along.
There is no internet available at all inside the restaurant. It was quite bad, and they do not provide wifi either.
It was hard to have a conversation as it was so loud where we sat, but we managed.
Overall, I will be going back for appetizers only as the location is pretty good when I am in New West.
I have been here several times but this time I wanted my friends to experience El Santo. Love it. It was packed but our reservation took us to our table right on time. Our food was quick, delicious and the drinks were phenomenal. This is a little jewel ...and on Columbia street. Who would have thought! I now go out of my way to make an excuse to go here. You won't be disappointed. It is authentic, and interesting, in a fun environment.
Very inventive food and cocktail offerings. Great Mexican roots with intriguing twists. Not your standard sangria, nor the salmon with mole and refried beets (yes, beets)! Delicious.
Service was good on a surprisingly busy Sunday evening. Our order got a bit waylaid, but staff was proactive in explaining / making things work out.
Noise level is variable, but you can usually still hear the live combo playing in the corner by the bar.
All in all a sucessful and tasty evening.
We have attended several of Sam and Jay’s pairing events. Always impressed by the cocktails, food and service!
Service was great. We had a party of 8 and food was all hot and delivered together. Food was tasty. I find the tacos are the best value and very tasty. I do think drinks such as their margaritas are over priced. They come in such a small glass and lots of ice. Not worth the price.
The server was great at suggesting and the meal was great
Love this quaint Mexican Restaurant, great food, especially the triple guacamole dip & chips. Great service, will definitely be back.
Very good experience with the Dine Out menu. The only disappointment was the dessert - the sugar was burned on the Dulce de Leche pudding. It was not good at all and none of my party finished their dessert if they picked that one.
Surprised upper class Mexican restaurant. Excellent service, very good food, A bit noisy at its peak but not overly loud you could't communicate comfortably. Will be happily going back.
Definitely will go back
A truly modern and compelling take on Mexican food. Excellent. Lovely room and great, friendly service. 6th visit, and it’s always excellent. Try the Salsa trio and the Chile Relleno. So delicious.
My husband and I enjoy escaping to El Santo for a nice meal and friendly environment ❤️
Food was amazing & portions were generous. Cocktails very nice as well. Service friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
Had the Dine Out menu fantastic salad the seared cured duck was very good felt it could have been a little less rare. Drinks were a bit slow but the place was full. Once again we were very satisfied with our evening which was our Anniversary. We will be back. Love those soft velvety tortillas the best
Food was excellent! The dine out menu and plates were generous and delicious. Our only issue was that the service was a bit slow and we were placed at a table that cought a cold draft every time the door opened.
Love the food, love the restaurant. Staff friendly. Great overall place to eat with friends and family.
This place is fantastic. Not what I expected out a Mexican restaurant in regards to dishes offered but both plates we ordered had great taste and presentation. Highly recommend this place.
Service was above..delirious foods
Amazing experience, loved the food, made great recommendations for my friends allergies
El Santo was fun and the food was unexpected. Fancy Mexican!
Great attentive service and lovely live music in the restuarant... regular updates on menu to keep the experience fresh
First time to visit El Santo and we were impressed. Service was very friendly and helpful.
The Wagyu flank steak was melt in your mouth delicious.
I wish there were more restaurants like El Santo in New Westminster.
Creative, interesting food. Excellent friendly service, although the food was slow to come.
Just such good food. I had my husbands leftover
Fish taco the next day and it was insanely delicious .... even then
I also dream of churros. So so good
Amazing food but overall high level of noise takes away from the whole experience
Everything was excellent! The food was great our server was helpful and fun! Two draw backs 1) the lights are hung a bit low and I almost hit my head, but I am pretty tall. 2) there was a woman at a table in the other room and she was so dang loud! I thought they were having a heated argument but no she was yelling a joke! Really I’d go back again! It’s pretty good!
