Have only been there for lunches - but always very good food and service.
Great ambiance, great location, great food
There were 8 of us. We went for my daughter's birthday. The waiter was very efficient. He was quiet when we were noisy and helpful when we were quiet. The food exceeded our expectations and my daughter got a free birthday cocktail (much better than cake when you turn 29!). For dessert I had a couple of raspberry cheesecake lollipops with pop rocks on them. I haven't had pop rocks for 20 years. The description intrigued me. They were absolutely delicious. Definitely a grown up version of a candy classic.
Slow service. Menu didn’t offer what was listed online, which would have deterred us from coming had we known. Nice environment.
Best cocktails in town! I love that they always change with the season!
It was lunch time. My waitress should have explained when I ordered the lobster and shrimp roll how small the portions were. I had to order another item so my company had to wait for my second order to come , so her food got cold.
This was a fantastic experience with great food. We were there on a Tuesday and they did taco Tuesdays - great value for your money and also shared the brussel sprouts which were also great. The only thing is some of the tables are a bit close together that you feel like you're sitting at the same table as the people beside you and there is little room to sneak in between the tables. But overall it was a great restaurant with great service and I will definitely be back!
A superb restaurant with succulent food, attentive service and a lovely ambiance...
The food was good, however our server was rude, I will not go back.
I don’t remember when I had a better lunch. The special lunch menu is a must try. Great and friendly not pretentious service. I will be back!
Brunch was delicious!! I always love this place!
Overall we enjoyed most of the dishes and found them great. There were a few that were average and sadly the burger was charred first go, they were great at remaking and covering it too.
The service was “meets expectation” as they missed the opportunity to exceed. Every other restaurant accommodates requests for sugar free cocktails by making modifications and our server just repeated that was all they had. Adding syrups on the side or modified is an easy recommendation for a sugar conscious diner. It was a special occasion and nothing was followed up on to even wished a happy birthday... let alone extend a gesture. Therefore we made no emotional connection to restaurant and the entire experience. Made me miss going to Model Milk for my birthday where they often treat you as family.
Would recommend to others as a 7/10.
We've been at "The Elbow Room" few times and their food and the service has always been excellent. We definitely will be back.
We really enjoyed our meal at the Elbow Room. Shared appetizer was the Tiger Prawns which are absolutely excellent. We could eat those everyday! I had the Lamb and it was very nicely done and very tasty. It is very large so make sure that you're very hungry if you order that. Our only disappointment was how cold the restaurant was. We asked the waitress if they could raise the temperature and she said that she would talk to the manager. Nothing was done. Multiple tables complained to their servers. The people at the table beside us were wearing their winter jackets in the restaurant. This isn't appropriate for a higher end restaurant like the Elbow Room. Management needs smarten up and fix this.
Everything about our dinner/evening at Elbow Room was excellent! Really enjoyed it and will be back soon.
I have been to the elbow room a few times now: staff is great, very knowledgeable about their menu - i love me a great server that knows the menu so well, how to upsell and exactly what i want to eat!
There is just one thing - you usually just have ‘elbow room’ between you and the table next to you! So if you’ve got a table with a kid next to you, gotta mind your mouth!
If you have physical restrictions be sure to let the hostess know when booking! There is a second floor at this restaurant, so if stairs aren’t your jam, just ask for main floor seating!
Server was attentive and provided suggestions. The pork sandwich was very good.
Good food. Wood flamed grill is unique and resulted in a fantastic burger. Burger buns could have been better. Good pizza and tacos as well.
Excellent service, fantastic ambiance and great food!
It’s always great!
We went here for a special date night. I was initially surprised that even with a reservation we were seated at the bar instead of a table (also no place to put your purse except the floor). It ended up being okay because no one else was, but had the other seats been full it would have felt a lot less "date" like. The food was fantastic and the bar staff were attentive with the service. We had the land and sea platter and two appetizers. They had a decent wine list and were pretty knowledgeable about the wine and how they'd pair with different foods.
It does get very loud in there but otherwise has a great atmosphere.
Gina, our server was amazing, food was excellent and Dallas, the manager stopped by to check in on us and our meal. Will definitely be going back!
First date evening, servers were fantastic, food was great.
We found Elbow room on open table and like a place with excellent food , close by (work or home), so popped in on a Thursday pm around 7.
The restaurant is two levels and we were guided upstairs. The furniture was rather French bistro , but far from cosy or private. No decor to speak of and hollow.
No a good thing with a party of six who were having fun, but with the libations the volume increased and more than six times such a roar of hilarity literally made me stop and freeze. The food was very good, and we might try it again in the daytime. But, for a small closely seated place with hollow decor, the sounds are likely to discourage anything private or intimate with the experience.
My guest and I were quite disappointed in the food and found it expensive for what we got. Usually we would be honest with our server but we were so tired last night.
He was very good but he should be less enthusiastic about the food.
This is a great place! The food is excellent. Prices are getting up there but appropriate for the great quality and presentation. I will go back for sure.
We read all the rave reviews and agree they have ‘the’ best brussel sprouts that we have ever had! Overall excellent value for your money. Not anything special for decor but maybe that’s how they keep the prices pretty reasonable. We had the shared surf and turf which was carefully prepared and presented with subtle seasoning. The banana waffle dessert was sooo good - and I’m not a big dessert fan. Bar menu was somewhat limiting although they had quite a tasty pumpkin Moscow Mule. Too bad the upstairs was virtually as loud as the downstairs. We got a chuckle when asked to rate the noise level they used ‘energetic’ as the associated term for the highest level. Clever marketing ;)
4 of us all enjoyed the evening special, steak, scampi, salmon, mashed potatoe and asparagus. Started with cocktails, carpaccio and risotto balls
A very nice dinner great food and service
OpenTable characterizes loud restaurants as “energetic.” No, this restaurant is just really, really loud. Why, in an industry that holds the promise of being able to satisfy all of our senses at once, do people insist on building restaurants that are concrete shells with no sound buffering? Food wise, skip the platters if you have even rudimentary cooking skills at home. They are eat-at-home food for $50 a head. Would we go back? Yes ... no ... maybe ... probably not? When you travel and see what is culinarily possible, with service to match, Elbow Room is a reminder that Calgary accepts the mediocre, then pats itself on the back for being (nauseating cliche alert), “world class.”
Our lunch was absolutely incredible and our server, Spenser was phenomenal. I would most definitely return and recommend this venue to others.
We will definitely be visiting here again. LOVED!!!The Winter salad and the Veradita-rita. Ambiance was great for catching up with my girlfriends or a date night.
Food was great which made up for the service. We were almost 25 minutes before we had a drink order taken.... They seemed busy (7:00) but a drink in that time seems like it should be reasonable expectation. We actually considered leaving but I am glad we stayed. Steak and Salmon were some of the best i ever had. Appys were also good. I'll come back. COuld have just been an off day.
We were mostly first time visitors. There were 5 of us and we all enjoyed the exceptional service and amazing food. We all had different entrees and they were extremely high quality. This will not be my last visit to this location.
A girlfriend and I could not have enjoyed our dinner at Elbow Room more. The ambiance is great, and the place was fun-filled all Saturday night. Our service was top notch, and we appreciated her steering us away from the sharing menu when we told her we weren't exceptionally hungry.
We shared the carpaccio, brussel sprouts, and buratta pizza. They were all 10/10. I can't wait to go back and try other items as the menu is absolutely divine.
Our experience couldn't have been better!
This was our second dining experience here and sadly we left somewhat disappointed. After speaking to the sous chef the day before to ensure the allergy in our group, the waitress basically came back and said that there was nothing on the menu that she could have and we would have to pick something that they would try to change to accommodate it. That was very discouraging and didn't give the best impression. The meal that was prepared for her was fine. What we also found in all of our entrees was that the temperature of the food varied between items. The steak was only somewhat warm, the potatoes were cold and the shrimp was also room temperature. The salmon was the only thing on the platter that was the temperature it should have been. I'm not sure we will be back...
Best meals in Calgary! Even better than lots of fine dining in Vancouver, BC! I am very impressed!
good menu choices. one of us has the daily special of three courses which was good value and good food. one had a beet salad with pears and goat cheese... very nice. and one had special tacos of the day and she loved them.
The food was very tasty, and the service was fast and friendly. My biggest complaint was the parking, of which, there is none.
Amazing food and service. Will definitely go back!
Liked the energy but found it overly loud for conversation. Waitress took a request for no Feta on the Cobb but failed to communicate it to the kitchen so we had to wait for another salad.
Coffee was tepid and service slowed completely toward the end of our meal. I’ve had much better service there before.
