Food was excellent, we will be back! Took a table at the bar so expectations were lower for service but we were pleasantly surprised that we were looked after very well.
Food was generally very good and I liked the fact that there were small dishes good for sharing which gave us an opportunity to sample more than one dish each. It was noisy so would not recommend for a cozy or intimate night out. But if you want a “cool” or “hip” place and are less interested in serious conversation, it would be a reasonable choice. I was very annoyed at the two hour seating limit which “classy” places do not do. But, as suggested when I received my online reservation confirmation, I did call the restaurant directly and ask for an extra hour if needed, to which they agreed. They honoured my request, did not rush us at all, and the service was impeccable (Vanessa).
To start with the positives, the food itself was outstanding. The gnocchi appetizer and the chicken and salmon entree's were great. Our server was prompt, polite, and provided great service, I tip my hat to her.
There are however a few things I did not like about this restaurant. First, the tables for two were awfully close to one another. We could hear the conversations going on beside us with clarity. To add on to that, the tables themselves are long, so you either have to talk loud or really lean in to have a conversation that you might not want others to hear.
I thought the portion sizes for the meals were unreasonable in consideration of the prices. Lastly, we were charged for sparkling water despite the fact that we only had still water all night.
Had there only been one or two of these concerns I wouldn't feel prompted to write this, but in hindsight, these issues combined made for a bit of a disappointing experience .
Always brilliant. Love the squid! Great staff/service.
I have been to the Elbow room 5 times over the past 5 months. I have always found the food tasty and the atmosphere fun. The menu seemed to be smaller than I remembered this time, although still tasty. I did find service slow, particularly at the beginning. Perhaps it was busier than expected, as I had not encountered this previously.
Food was exceptional, and the serving staff and chef were helpful, friendly and service was quick. Highly recommend checking this place out.
It was my second visit, it was great. Like the location, nearby my house.
Fantastic food and attentive service
Brunch was fantastic! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
Unfortunately we did not have a great first time experience at the Elbow Room. I think if we had been sitting downstairs it would have been a different story. We were sat upstairs and there was only one waiter for the whole area and they sat him 3 tables at the same time with 2 of them being at least 6 people. He got us water and took our order fairly quickly but never refilled our waters and we had ordered our waffles as a starte but they came out with the rest of our food so e writhing got cold really quickly as not if the plates were warmed. We also got the wrong dips because nothing was written down...one of my pet peeves of waitstaff, if you’re not going to remember the whole order correctly then it needs to be written down. Took forever for him to come back after our food was served and finished to give us the bill and ring us out.
Sunday brunch was great. Service, provided by Sarah, was excellent and the food matched! The liége waffles are great and the bison hash was delightful. Delicate flavour pairings made it so much more than just hash!
Will definitely tell all our friends to try it out.
This is a good restaurant and we enjoyed our meal there. The carbonara and prawns in the shared menu were excellent.
The ambiance was pleasant and service was prompt, friendly and not intrusive as it sometimes can be.
Definitely recommend this place for special occasions - worth the money.
Have been wanting to try this place for some time now and it did not disappoint! Friendly staff, delicious food and such a great location! Cannot wait to hit the patio in the summer.
I always enjoy coming here, there is a very clean, easy going ambiance to the restaurant. The service is always good, with the servers and hosting staff being very knowledgeable and welcoming every time I have been. The food is approachable and it is hard to go wrong with choosing dishes on the menu. Great place to go for drinks and appetizers or for a nice dinner.
Yummmm. Third time here, it's becoming one of my favourites.
Beautiful restaurant and our waitress was great. The food was delicious and she gave us great recommendations.. Definitely will go back.
Return visit for myself, inviting two friends for our annual Spring Fling get-together. Nothing Spring-like with very cold weather, unfortunately.
Warm atmosphere. Good service. All enjoyed our different choice meals, with one person requiring special dietary needs, which were met.
Two hour parking limit in area bit intimating, however, managed our natter in that time. Did notice 'free' parking one block North, which will use next time I bring another friend.
Really fantastic experience from start to finish!
Loved loved this restUrant will definitely be back
We had a lovely brunch on Easter Sunday. The service was attentive and good. The waitress was able to answer all our questions and make suggestions.
The customer service was wonderful. The workers were polite, friendly, and understanding. We came late to our reservation by 20 minutes (but we gave them a call beforehand to let them know), and even though we had reservations for 2 hours, we never felt rushed to finish our meal. On top of that, my friend is a vegetarian and she accidentally ordered a meal with meat, and the workers there were more than happy to replace her meal, free of charge. The meal itself was delicious, it wasn't too heavy and there were a lot of vegetables that accompanied the meals. Definitely would recommend trying the toppings for the waffles too! My favorite was the salted caramel because it wasn't too sweet, but instead had a nice balance of sweet and salty. Overall, this place is family, friend, and date friendly because of its cozy, light, and casual atmosphere; it has great food, drinks, and friendly customer service. Would recommend giving it a try if you're looking for a place that's casual and chill.
My wife and I tried Elbow Room last weekend and weren’t disappointed. We sat st the counter where you can see the going’s on in the kitchen and have a nice informal dinner. The service was great and food superb. We had three share plates and that was plenty for a good dinner. The agnolotti, carbonara and octopus were awesome. We can’t wait to visit again and try something else. They change their menu fairly frequently to keep it fresh and seasonal.
The server (Devon) was very friendly, but not intrusive. She was clearly a fan of the menu and she made great recommendations. We thought the food was creatively presented and exquisitely tasty. We split the “experience” and it was a perfect size and marriage of tastes. We also split a tomato salad starter and thought it was terrific, especially the dill terragon dressing.
The restaurant is very bright and noisy, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a quiet, romantic dinner, but if you’re looking for great food and service, it hits the mark.
Excellent food! Bison dish was a very small serving. Share plates were delicious.
Had just a great Easter Saturday dinner with family - excellent cuisine, such an interesting, exciting and diverse menu, beautiful presentation, everything tasted amazing, great service, all round excellent experience! Looking forward to the patio seating when the weather warms. Thank you chef and staff! We will be back!
I took my mother for a delicious brunch. The food was great and the price more than reasonable. The staff was top notch, friendly and accommodating . Will be back again for brunch over and over.
Two out of three dishes had no flavor. Brussels sprouts worth a return.
Love love love the Lunch experience menu. It's a great deal and everything was delicious.
We met up with some friends on a Wednesday evening and the bottles of wine were 1/2 off. We really enjoyed all the food, good wine and the service was really great! We will definitely go back and we are recommending The Elbow Room to all of friends and family.
This was my first time there and my friends second. It wad lunch on a Wednesday. It wasn’t busy. We were seated promptly and our waitress arrived soon after. She asked if it was our first time and explained a few things on the menu to us. We each ordered the lunch experience which was a choice of one item from 3 categories. A nice variety and together was more than adequate in amount. We each enjoyed our 3 selections. At the end she brought us each a small paper bag with 2 bengettes inside - still warm from the fryer! I will definitely return!
We had a wonderful night at Elbow Room on a Tuesday evening with friends. We were seated upstairs which was great as there is more room in between tables than on the main floor. Wonderful Food! Great service! Our friends from out of town thought it was fantastic!
We had a party of 8 and all enjoyed the food and service. Excellent food, great service!
From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were well treated! it's a bright room, with a great vibe. Our server was attentive and suggested just the right things! and had a great sense of humour! Looking forward to coming back to try the roof top patio!!
Third time here for brunch, the food is amazing, but today was the worst version of service we have had here. Hopefully just a one off. We will still come back.
My friend and I were greeted at the door by Josh Brennand, the restaurant Director/Partner who welcomed us to the Elbow Room, then we were shown to our table. The young man who took us to our seats recommended the bacon benedict as it was our first time to the restaurant and we just wanted everything on the menu. With said recommendation, we ordered the crab and the bacon benny so we could both try each one. Both were delicious. We also received a complimentary side dish which was a little taste of heaven. Josh came back over to our table to see how we enjoyed our experience and we certainly did.
It’s a nice change to be greeted at the door and later once we had eaten. Josh and his team were very friendly and attentive, but by just going that little extra mile and which doesn’t cost a lot to do we were over the moon with our food and the hospitality. I highly recommend. For the lovely bright open space, the acoustics were very good especially for someone who struggles in open spaces with noise. I have already sent messages to friends and family to go try it out. We will be back :)
Nothing like a super pushy waitress that interrupts you 6 times in the first 20 minutes to set the ton for the evening. Super annoying. No I still haven’t decided on what I’m eating thanks. You asked me that 2 minutes ago and 2 minutes before that and I wasn’t ready then either. If you need to move us through in two hours because there is a reservation after us just tell us from the moment we sit down. Somehow I don’t think that was the case seeing as our reservation was a 745pm and the restaurant was nearly empty by the time we left.
Scrumptious food! Pleasant atmosphere at this new upscale restaurant. Three of us nibbled on 5 of the share plates, enough food to call a light meal for each of us. The food is presented beautifully and served at the right temperature. We all had beer but there was an interesting sounding cocktail of the day. Would highly recommend to friends and will definitely go back!
Had great difficulty making a change to my reservation through Open table. I wanted to reduce the party from four to two, and the system would not accept the change despite me inputting the change several times.
Phoned the restaurant and left a message which was not returned. I called again after two days and actually talked to someone who made the change I needed. They made no inquiry about preferred seating etc, just reduced the number.
On our arrival, staff seemed to be in confusion over table assignments.
No actual table had been reserved for us, but seating was available at the upstairs bar until a table for two came free.
The service was slow and again staff seemed to need prompting to take food orders, replenish water, bring the bill, etc.
Our waiter was actually quite delightful, but seemed to be preoccupied with straightening chairs, rather than ensuring guests had everything they needed!
The food was outstanding. We had the 3-choice lunch menu and it was excellent.
I have recommended this place to several people since our visit, with a caution about the reservation
Process and the spotty service. These were the weak links in an otherwise excellent visit.
We will return, for sure, as the food was memorably good!
One must try the Brussels sprouts, amazing flavour. The tiger prawns were outstanding. Enjoyed lunch very much. Great spot away from the downtown core.
Great food and service. We’ll be back.
