Literally a two minute walk to the Royal Alexandra theatre. Good pub food, lots of choices.
Good food and good value. Excellent friendly service.
4 of us had lunch on Oct. 10, & found food, service & seating to be very good. We'll be back.
My friends & I had a 12 noon reservations we arrived a bit after 12 noon.
We were seated for approximately 15+ minutes before we even saw a server.
Even after we did meet our server & ordered our meal it did not arrived at our table until over an hour later.
Noting the time delay in getting our meal we had requested it be packed so we could all get back to work on time.
But of course it was brought to our table & we had to again request it be packed for take out.
Which took another 10-15 minutes to complete.
During this time a manager came over to say sorry for the inconvenience it was related to the Wednesday theater crowd & out meal would be out in 5 minutes (did not happen).
The theater crowd happens every Wednesday (really) staff appropriately & book the tables accordingly.
It was the worst dining out experience I have had in my life.
No attempt was made by manager/staff to provide us with some incentives noting we waited for over an hour to be served i.e. discount off meal/free dessert something.
Nope did not happen we paid full price & left at 1:15 pm with our lunch taken back to the office to eat.
I have always enjoyed the restaurant but I will never return there & will recommend my friends do the same.
The level of service was unacceptable the dining out experience instead of being enjoyable was just stressful. My entire lunch hour was wasted waiting for food to take back to my desk to eat.
Staff need to have customer service training.
Excellent food. Best chicken tenders ever. Wife had grilled chicken salad much enjoyed.
The server was very good. She handled a difficult situation well. We were not pleased that the restaurant had run out of mineral water. There is never an excuse to run out of a commodity that can be bought at any grocery store. Someone in authority should have apologized for letting that level of ineptitude get that far. The food was very good and the table setting was as requested and just what was needed. Overall a good experience.
First time there, before going to the Royal Alex...…….Loved it & we'll definitely be back...….Great food & awesome service.
Unfortunately service was slow but a
Busy night. But waitress was very rude which let the most lasting impression
Our group enjoyed their pre theatre lunches. Service was friendly and efficient. Good value, atmosphere, selection. Caesars were delish.
Good food, friendly staff. However, we had to ask several times for water/drinks, and our food took longer than expected.
Food was served cold. No return of staff asking how things were. No chance to have plates heated or replaced. Very disappointing.
Fantastic food at a brilliant location
Great service. A nice option for lunch away from the craziness of the comparables at King & Bay.
Attended a play at the Royal Alex. This restaurant is in a very convenient location. The food we ordered was really good and the waiter was very friendly. We were not rushed and enjoyed our visit!!
Amazing food, the best gin and tonics I've ever had...service was great!!
Great food, loved the English selection! Staff very friendly and helpful without being in your face.
Service was great. Food was good value
I enjoyed the experience
Had a wonderful brunch with friends! Service and food were great. Only disappointment was the loud rap music. Not suitable for a relaxing Sunday Brunch. Waitress couldn’t change it because the music comes from headquarters but she did turn the volume down for us.
Proximity to Mirvish theatre, and availability of seating, were the attraction or the restaurant when booking was made. Yet, we were not displeased by any of : food, ambiance, service; and so, we felt we received good value for money.
NOTE: There seemed to be no notice taken by staff, who had been informed at each encounter, that the evening was part of a 'special occasion' (attending theatre on wife's birthday); but, that was forgivable.
Waited for service, had to ask to order. Had to send order back, cold no taste. Order something different hummus much better
Great pub experience
Staff was friendly and attentive. The food presentaion is good and the taste was great.
Steak and Mushroom Pie was delicious!
The Reuben sandwich is delicious and I always go for that. My dining mates have always raved about their choices. Fries could be better though. More incentive to order a side salad.
Good food. Great waitstaff. Close to theatre. Quick service.
Had the special of the day (Tuesday - pint and wings) and the food was very good. The service was attentive and prompt. The place was quieter than usual which was very good.
Honestly we go to E&C often, but this time was not great. We were a table of 8 by the bar. The service was OK but the food was cold. We had been waiting so long and had the Taylor Swift concert so we didn’t have time to wait for warm food. They couldn’t even find utensils for us.
The food is always delicious. Wait staff is very hardworking. Only negative is the noise which is common in most restaurants. At least we were seated comfortably and spaced well.
The wild mushroom tortellini in a white sauce? Delicious!M!
Service started slow with our drinks. Then we waited for an hour for our food which never came. Then we left. Waitress was nowhere to be seen. Never getting your food should rate a zero but the program requires me to give it at least one
Fantastic server, some food disapointments. Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding was served with simply awful tasteless gravy over less than fresh tasting beef but in a terrific yorkie. Good Castle Club sandwich. Would recommend to a friend with caution about menu selection.
Overall experience was good. My friends and I went to watch the final World Cup game. I'm glad they have TVs everywhere and our seats were in pretty good view of some as requested. Service was a bit slow and there was some confusion with who ordered what when we received our bills, but no big deal. I like this place and would totally come back!
We had a good evening, and the service was prompt and the staff friendly. Each serving easily met the standards of "down-to-earth pub food."
We had great food at a moderate price - friendly prompt service - noisy , busy atmosphere but
not unexpected. Would highly recommend when going to the theatre or concert hall.
Had lunch here before the play. Food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely be back.
Great food - great service - convenient - I will visit again!
Out for dinner and a theatre show. Overall great experience, if there was anything to offer for improvement purposes would be signs pointing to where the restrooms are and our server wasn’t very attentive to us having empty glasses.
Our server (if she wore a name tag I cannot recall her name) went above and beyond to provide us with excellent service. At our request, she had the music turned down and switched to a playlist more suitable to our taste.
Food was excellent! Prices are adequate for eating in Toronto. Service was great at the beginning. I did find once it became busier, the waitress was a bit slow returning to our table. Very friendly atmosphere and staff.
The serve was friendly but hard to find during dinner. The food was like warm and when we complained about it we were given an apology, however the replacement was the same temperature. Given the time window before the show we continued on with what we had. Perhaps more attention needs to be directed at food preparation/quality.
