Elephant & Castle - Toronto King St.
Since 1977, Elephant & Castle has rolled out its well-worn welcome mat to anyone and everyone looking for a cracking good time. Whether that means cheering on your beloved team or chatting up your mates or simply savoring fresh made eats with a bit of jolly old England folded in here and there, this is the pub where you get your brit on.
Extremely noisy. Ordered "Bangers & Mash". The sausages were almost inedible. Disappointed.
I really did not enjoy the mangers and bash. Sausages were terrible but cheesecake was delicious
Butter chicken had three small pieces of chicken in it and shepherds pie was very greasy
Our group of 5 ladies enjoyed a delicious brunch/lunch before the matinee performance at the theatre and then went back for late afternoon coffee too, while waiting for the Mirvish bus.
Great service, great variety of delicious choices and the best tasting eggs benedict we have ever had.
Service was a bit slow and had a few minor issues with our food. There was a leaf game going on that evening so we had anticipated slower service. As for our food issues, our server was very quick to solve all issues. So overall it was a pleasant experience.
Our food was excellent and our server helpful and pleasant.
Good food. A little slow service but it was really busy. Definitely going back.
Over all food was delicious, however the service was extremely poor and very very slow!
Good choice before a show
They didn’t have the item that we ordered from the menu. The music was to loud.
The food was great but the service was slow. The mimosas uses very inexpensive prossceco, I do not recommend these.
food and service were very good. very noisy atmosphere, conservation difficult, could do without the loud music overriding the busy conversations
The only problem we had was the noise volume. We were seated what seemed to be a speaker for the sound system.
We enjoy coming to this restaurant pre or post theatre. The proximity to the theatres and Roy Thompson Hall is ideal. There is a wide variety of choice on the menu at reasonable pric
Not the best experience I’ve had at this restaurant. Arrived a bit earlier than time reserved but denied choice of several empty tables. Initial table service good but server never inquired about how we liked our food. It was not overly hot (apart from my salmon, which was) and we had to call her over to inquire about mashed potatoes (which were prepared with way too much pepper, they were really very spicy). I like hot food but my lunch partner does not and couldn’t eat hers. Manager said there was nothing unusual about way potatoes were prepared but I’m guessing she hadn’t tasted these. She offered a salad in lieu of potatoes but meal was finished by then. Bread pudding dessert was delicious but offering to take it off the bill (only $6) would have been nice gesture.
Ordered onion dip sandwich w sweet potato fries. When food arrived the gravy for sandwich spilled onto the fries. Soggy fries.
The fish and chips were great. Fish tacos not so much. They were cold whereas I was expecting a piece of crispy fish (hot) with the toppings. The taco was soggy as a result. Not pleasant. Service was great and overall a nice post theatre experience.
Our server was great and personable. Food came in a timely fashion. Beer selection superb. I had the bangers and mash. The gravy and mash were good, the sausage wasnt as flavorful as I would have expected for a proper bangers and mash. It was a tad dry. I've never had a dry banger in the UK.
Location is excellent related to subway and attending the theatre. However, although staff are certainly friendly the service was very poor. Since I'd been there before went early for lunch before a Saturday matinee given the inordinate amount of time it took for every step (ordering, getting the food, settling the bill). Same experience again - soggy and cold. Clearly not enough wait staff as the restaurant got busier over the noon hour. Wouldn't have minded the waiting if the food was excellent given the prices but it wasn't. The fish tacos were very disappointing - soggy, cold and bland - We were at a table for two, so not a lot of room, and was surprised when entree finally arrived that the appetizer dishes were not cleared. Luckily, the people next to us decided not to wait any longer to settle their bill at the table so we moved our dirty dishes to that table - Allow lots of time and be careful what you order - pass on anything that if you imagine it served cold you wouldn't want to eat it.
Enjoyed a pretheatre dinner. Their burgers are exceptional combinations as is the roast beef stuffed Yorkshire pudding. Nice to have comfort food on a damp, cold night. Will go again
Had dinner prior to seeing Come From Away. Very convenient and good menu. Recommend the Cottage Pie unusual presentation but tasty. Beer was Henderson on draft also excellent. Bill was an attentive server with good advice.
always love this place - consistently good food and service - out go-to!
Food was greasy and totally unappetizing - and it's hard to get pub food wrong. Kitchen was out of fries and other standard items. Waitress totally forgot about us. Would never go again.
Great place to eat before the theatre
What a great place to go to before the theatre. Good food including comfort food. Great ambiance and the service is always good.
Seeing Come From Away
My family came here with my 87 year old mother. We had a fabulous waitress who was tons of fun, the food was great. Service was ok, but not our waitresses fault - just really high volume. My only real complaint would be that 4 out of the 6 dishes were cold. We will come back again next year. Clare
Our server was amazing, fun, informative, attentive and really nice! Food was awesome hot tasty and yummy!
Excellent service.quiet, great food, perfect location with easy walk from Union Station and close to Theatres.
Friendly and fast service. Had no trouble getting a table even though I was half an hour early for my reservation. Food was good and prices are reasonable. Loved the bread pudding and sweet potato fries!
Good pub food in a very central and energetic atmosphere.
Great service. Good pub food. Half price wine night. How can you beat that!
Was an excellent meal , great value . Would go back again ...
Great choices and always a little quieter at lunch time, away from the fray at King & Bay.
Excellent server but a second time in a row we had to wait and extended amount of time for our breakfast. Not sure why it takes 45-50 minutes to make scrambled eggs. I understand a bus load of people came in unexpectedly but for a second time in a row I think this will be the final time eating here. I appreciate the $50 GC we received for a similar experience we had in May (at least today we received our food) but returning a third time to hope getting our food in under 30 minutes I'm not taking a chance. All this being said our waitress was amazing.
Our server seemed to have too many tables to take care of in the result, service was slow. The restaurant should have been prepared for a Saturday mantinee theatre crowd considering it is steps away from the theatres.
Had lunch here yesterday before seeing ain't too proud and had a great time.Tyler was our server and he was Great so fun and friendly made our lunch even more of an occasion,we all enjoyed our lunch and would definitely go back again
Amazing food. Service was exceptional. Had not had a bread pudding in years and was floored by how good it was.
A great food place and close to RTH. Cant loose with this option.
Efficient service. Good food. Nice atmosphere. Lively.
