Elephant & Castle - Toronto King St.

The Elephant and Castle was CLOSED!!!

This restaurant at this location is closed. I'm not sure how I was able to book a reso still.

It was closed without any notice, came all the way from king city and the restaurant was closed.

WASNT OPEN WHEN WE BOOKED A RESERVATION SO DISAPPOINTED

Wasn’t even open when I showed up.

They were shut but Open Table taking bookings and requesting confirmations of intention to attend

Open table allowed me (and others) to make a reservation while the restaurant is closed. This is during a time where getting a same-day reservation is impossible. No warning, no call. Huge waste of time.

The restaurant is closed, the reservation was confirmed but no update came thorough to inform that they were indeed closed. Call before booking this place.

Was available on open table, outdoor dining at 6:30pm. Reservations made but restaurant was CLOSED. Did not get any notification at all. This was for a bday get together. Luckily Gabby’s was a few blocks down and open. First time a reservation on open table didn’t work out.

I live all the way in the West End Burlington and I booked this way in advance on Monday five days before the actual reservation I drove all the way down with the three people that I made a reservation with and you guys are closed! I have used OpenTable app before so I trusted that I didn’t have to call so by the time I got there when I did call I was told that that location is temporarily closed!
It was my girlfriends birthday and this was our first patio arrangement since summer of 2019 and I really don’t understand why OpenTable app is available for making reservations if you guys are closed!!! You need to update the service pronto very disappointed such a waste of time our expectations were not meant at all. Somebody could’ve called us back to let us know I got a confirmation email the day before so I confirmed that yes we will be showing up and that is what we did and my girlfriend was very upset however we ended up finding another place in the danforth but we shouldn’t of had to look for a Plan B because this plan a was sought out! Thanks for nothing!!

It was closed when we arrived.

The staff did well running out to the patio. Coffee was luke warm and there was no sanitizer when recording names and using CC machine, but overall great with the patio heaters.

this is my go to and has been for decades. foo, service and price always outstanding

During the day the ambiance was a bit dark and dull, service was OK, and the food was good.

Wrap had to be sent back no chipotle, no guacamole on the turkey chipotle wrap. Fish and chips were good. Service was slow.

Babe loved it! I did too. Lots of choices for only two stomachs. Go, eat.

This restaurant is really doing it right. Service was excellent and food was awesome. We are inside and I felt extremely safe. The staff are taking the sanitation of the restaurant very seriously. I will definitely go back.

The lower ambiance score was because we were on a shaded side patio, which i assume was created for Covid. No flowers on patio fence, etc. Quite bleak.

I've been to Elephant & Castle for a beer with a couple of friends. I ordered a TRUFFLE PARM POTATO CRISPS, which was very tasty!

Met with friends on the patio and enjoyed a great meal. The health precautions taken were exemplary and we enjoyed our food. Would definitely eat here again!

Yes, the food was great, a bit pricey on the 6 oz Pinot Gri at $9.50, also the IPA beer at $8.00 small glass.

Great location for theatre goers. Prompt friendly service. Restaurant was unusually quiet that night due to COVID 19 I believe.

Lunch before our Saturday matinee was perfect. Once we had told our server our plans, she made sure we had everything we needed from drinks to the cheque in a very timely way, but we never felt rushed. We hadn't been to the Elephant & Castle in a long time, and were delighted with it once again. Although quite busy, the sound level was quiet.

Great spot for a casual dinner before the theatre.

The food was delicious, and my guest and I were able to stay as long as we wanted. We were not rushed at all. It was my first time ever having an Irish Coffee, so I thought it was very strong. Our waitress brought me extra milk packets for it without a problem, I really appreciate this.

The server seemed to rush us to order drinks when we first sat down. She took our appetizer order (pretzel bites) then seemed to disappear for some time. She took our main course order and then was gone for a while too. When she cleared our plates she said for us to take our time. But when we were ready to go we still had to wait as she hadn’t brought us our bills yet. It was a long wait to get our bills. The pub wasn’t very busy so it couldn’t have been that she was busy with many other tables.

The pretzel bites and dip were great ... but we didn’t get enough pretzel bites for the amount of dip that was served. Had a spoon been provided with the dip we could’ve spooned some out onto our plates and maybe more would’ve been used (but we didn’t double dip).

The fish and chips was ok. The one end of the fish seemed slightly underdone (or had too much batter that didn’t properly get cooked) and the fries didn’t have any color or flavor to them.

Great food and excellent service. The reservation worked well on a busy night and we had a great experience.

All in all always a nice place to go before the concert or theatre. Busy, bustling crowd, good service and food.

Disappointing. French fries and chicken were cold, had to ask for Parmesan cheese on Caesar salad as none was originally included. Wine list needs updating as very poor Red selection. Server good.

convenient pub with a variety of food options. Nothing particularly special... but it's a welcome option vs. the high-priced places right in the core.
Food was tasty. SErvice friendly/fast. No complaints at all.

Great service - love the grilled brussels sprouts on special right now. Cozy atmosphere on a cold night.
