Elora Mill Restaurant
Penstock Lounge 11am-10pm
Fabulous table! Excellent service! Imaginative and delicious cuisine! Easily comparable to some starred restaurants in France. Amazing environs!
We had two marvellous meals here. The waitstaff were consistently warm and friendly, they were able to accommodate some dietary restrictions, and the food was delicious. It was creative, and not overly sauced.
Congratulations to Pearle Hospitality on creating an exquisite dining experience. We sat at a table with a whole new view of the Tooth of Time. Food was exceptional and portions were excellent for lunch. We will be back often.
An anniversary dinner to remember. My wife and I were wished happy anniversary on our arrival and shown to a table with a beautiful view into the Elora gorge. The friendly staff made our evening comfortable and entertaining. We enjoyed the flavours and presentation of our selections from the menu. Living in the area we plan to return to the Elora Mill again soon.
Wonderful view Good Food Great Service ! I will return !
Went to the spa for a ladies day out and dinner and we all had a fabulous evening!
The restaurant is new. Has many things to work out. The menu is linited. Beautiful renovation Some of our dishes came out cold and the cauliflower main course was terrible.
The extra little things were so thoughtful! Glass of champagne, chefs choice taster and chocolate samples at the end. Best tenderloin beef I have ever tasted! Service was excellent. A little more lighting needed but that is to be corrected. Very enjoyable experience! Thank you 😊
Beautiful setting excellent food and service
Wonderful dinner delicious food beautiful presentation
Excited to see the results of the renovation. Food was excellent, as were drinks and the staff. Looking forward to our next visit.
The staff are wonderful, especially Karry. The ambience is great. The food taste has some room for improvement. Will come back and refer to friends.
Quite an experience. Highly recommend this unique dining experience in picturesque Elora
Decor and location are quite spectacular, and service usually very good, especially the servers, however not nearly enough to compensate for the disappointments with the food.
The cob salad was pathetic with low grade contents vs. a price of $21.00 plus tax! The salmon a single piece of fish totally abandoned by any vegetables or adornment, alone in a plain white bowl ... not an inspiring presentation. The shepherd's pie tasty enough, but served extremely, even dangerously hot, without any warning of the high temperature.
The gentleman who passed by asking about our food did not wait to hear any proper feedback, especially when we were all in the midst of eating when he passed by - so no real chance to provide dialog or feedback. He did not take the opportunity to get any real input from his guests - a missed service opportunity that would show some real interest.
Not a good value for money lunch. Thankfully we were with long-time friends.
the noise level was terrible in the solarium, with a large group in a confined area it was impossible to talk to my guest.
The food was excellent and the service was very attentive.
Over all it was a nice lunch except for the noise level in the solarium.
We went for our anniversary celebration and were greeted at the table with complimentary champagne. Surprise sample appetizer also provided, compliments of the chef. Food was fantastic and server was attentive, helpful and friendly. Atmosphere was beautiful with a view of the gorge while we dined. They also provided a beautiful complimentary tray of truffles to finish off our meal. We were very impressed and will definitely be back. Would highly recommend the Elora Mill Inn and Restaurant for anyone celebrating a special occasion!
We returned to the Elora Inn because it was our wedding anniversary. 27 years ago we’d spent a mini honeymoon there.
We were greeted by “Happy Anniversary” and 2 complimentary glasses of champagne waiting for us at the table. Every, and I do mean every, staff member were friendly and a joy to interact with.
The food was beyond exceptional, delicious to the palate and to the eye. This newly opened restaurant has the perfect mix of wonderful front staff backed up by an amazing back/kitchen staff. We will definitely be back...soon!
The food wasn’t delicious. A varied menu without being overwhelming. We had the wine pairings with our meal and the combination was wel thought out and enhanced the meal. The wait staff was attentive and peasant and the atmosphere great. Beautiful view of the gorge.
A lovely dining experience after being closed for so long!
Beautiful views and service was good, but far too overpriced and the soup was watery and not very flavourful.
We were eager to try this historic inn after such a long closure and incredible makeover! The dining room is stunning as is the rest of the restored inn...no expense was spared. The room is tasteful and modern with rustic features retained from the original structure. It overlooks the river rapids and has a lovely view of the gorge.
Our meal was inventive and well executed with just a few minor flaws. An amuse bouche of prosciutto wrapped melon with creme fraiche and avocado purée was a lovely surprise. My appetizer of citrus cured Arctic char was tangy and flavourful but in the next course the heirloom tomatoes were relatively tasteless which is disappointing in the middle of our local tomato season. My husband had the price fixe four course menu and he was pleased with everything, but he especially enjoyed the crayfish tagliolini. To end the meal, the lemon tart was delightfully “tart”, but the crust was a tad soggy.
The staff are impeccably trained and all dishes were beautifully presented. If this is a sample of the quality we can expect from this newly opened destination venue, we will be back again and again!
This is already our second dinner at the new restaurant , as well as 4 or 5 visits to the lower lounge. Great food quality, excellent presentation and impeccable service.
The place and view were both great, but the food was uninspired and quite bland. The "Scottish Shepherd's Pie" was described on the menu as "in a rich gravy", but it was anything but rich. Tasted like someone forgot the flavours. The "Bacon and Tomato Sandwich" was heavy on the bread and light on the bacon and almost boring (though the bacon was good, there just wasn't much of it. It was the sort of food that might have been OK at a small diner, but at those prices - no way... We might go back to Elora, but we would not go back to the restaurant unless they seriously up their game..
The service was exceptional, but the food was way over priced for what I got, which was not what I expected. My husbands sandwich was not what he expected, as the bread was way to heavy.
Had lunch with a friend. Sandwich and drink kind of pricey but we went for the view.
Food was close but not quite their fir the price point. Comparing to Langdon prices but not on par yet. Also solarium seat was beautiful but was very dark in our corner. Could update not see across table.
We reserved a table few days before our night out to have dinner for our anniversary. Complimentary champagne, mini appetizer and amazing bread started off the evening. We decided to be all in and have a full experience. We each opted for the four course meal with wine pairing, which was made the BEST EVER by being completely open and not simply "Chef's Choice". We both consider ourselves reasonable but serious foodies, with high expectations of service and quality wherever we go. This experience was second to none. Each and every course had its own new and well balanced taste. The wine pairing complimented the food in very complex ways, each of us were very impressed. My main course was the steak with a small portion of roast beef. I requested Rare, Chicago style, which I often do at many other fine dining restaurants. When I tasted this steak I was blown away by the tenderness, the flavour. We always rate our dishes to each other. That was the best steak I've ever had hands down, without hesitation! Some note worthy things worth mentioning, was the sincere team effort at which the staff execute, being very warm, friendly and noticing the little things. It is clear that the culture within the organization is vibrant and healthy, others focused, and that made them all a real joy to be around. The sommelier made our time most enjoyable by his sincere care, down to earth conversation that eased any tension we had. We came expecting to be impressed, and our expectations were blown out of the water! This is our new date night spot! Thank you to the amazing team at Pearle for investing in this little town, the people who work within this organization and your patrons, both local, and world wide. We are all better for your involvement here. Here's to many successful years to come!
VERY small portions. I don't mind paying more for a nice restaurant but I don't expect to leave hungry. I don't eat large portions, but I had a salad that at best was maybe 2 cups. It had chicken - maybe 1/4 of a cup at best. $21. One of our party had the salmon. 4" x 3" at best, with 3 pieces of asparagus (3" long each) and that was $34!
Would not go back
We had a delicious meal at the Mill, but the portions were a tad small for the price. The service, atmosphere and the cocktails were really good. Also, the room is beautiful and the view is wonderful.
I must admit that I was trepidatious as we had frequented the Elora Mill years ago and it was fabulous. Well I worried for nothing. The renovations are stellar and the attention to detail spectacular. The food was excellent, and as a compliment to the chef, the salt and pepper on the table were never touched. The wait staff were attentive but not interfering. Very professional! The glass wall into the working kitchen is fascinating and reassuring that the preparation is done with care and professionalism. I highly recommend this venue. It is once again a favorite and we will be back.
What a nice upper scale restaurant, little town charm. Waitress was quick to take order. Did not wait long. Very friendly. Clean. Quiet Atmosphere and view spectacular. Definitely go again. Told friends to go check it out.
What a beautiful place! Very friendly, experienced servers. We enjoyed our 4 course meals with the wine pairing. My only quibble ....why asparagus in August? So many other local vegetables available right now!
I took the love of my life to the Elora Mill restaurant for her birthday this past weekend (Saturday) and we both chose the 4 course meal with wine pairings. My better half and I aren't huge wine drinkers but each different wine was soo perfectly paired with our dishes, it magnified the taste of the food as well as already delicious desserts. We were both so impressed with our entire night, we were already talking about coming back again during our dinner. They also have a hotel and spa. That's definitely on our must try list for next time. WORTH EVERY DOLLAR!!!
Absolutely delighted with the reopening of the Elora Mill restaurant. It was a very long wait(8 years) but they did it right. Everything was excellent and as we live in Waterloo I look forward to many opportunities to enjoy the food and ambiance and spectacular view. Well worth the drive from Toronto when you yearn for a quieter life.
Presentation of the meal, service and the decor all fit as the gourmet experience unfortunately food does not achieve that level
The restaurant provides a excellent wine pairing with a four course meal. The food was done perfectly. Hot and not over done.
Venue is magnificent.
Service was sporadic. It took over 20 min. to get a drink.
Amuse was excelllent as was lemon tart for dessert.
Had the Arctic char for a starter and it was very salty and tasteless.
The oxtail and mushroom ragu between two layers of pasta was quite chewy and also had very little taste. It should have been bursting with flavour.
There is lots of potential here, but the kitchen needs to rework the menu.
The service was delightful, and the food was excellent. Beautiful presentation and flavours were exceptional.
I ordered the gnocchi for lunch and it was terrible, dry, tasteless and very small.
The Mill renovation is very nice indeed and the view of the gorge from the dining room is lovely. The service was friendly and reasonably prompt. The food was disappointing from the chowder soup to the mains, especially as much was made of the chef. Since the restaurant has been relatively newly opened we hope this will improve in time as we certainly plan to visit again.
