Focusing on robust, rewarding food with a Mediterranean influence, accompanied by great wine, Emile – Damian’s grandfather’s name - will take up residency at 26 Curtain Road in Shoreditch for six months from 10th October. The 40-cover restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. Additionally, from Sunday 27th October Emile will be open every other Sunday for a series of feasting lunches, with a set menu served family-style at a single sitting.

We went to the set Sunday lunch of roast lamb with dauphinois potatoes. The starter salads to share with excellent..tomato and anchovy and a courgette and mint salad. The lamb as tender and perfect cooked and the potatoes were superb. The rhubarb and almond tart was the perfect conclusion to a delicious lunch. Service was professional and attentive but relaxed. So sad that Emile is closing as it is an absolute gem.

The starters were lovely but the mains were a little flat which was a shame. The restaurant is really sweet and good wine selection. Such a shame the waitress that looked after our table was curt and pretty pretentious. After ordering a drink at the end of our meal, she told us we needed leave in 20 mins for another booking, it was 10pm and there were plenty of empty tables so this seemed very odd. Such a shame because otherwise it was a really nice evening.

This feels like a restaurant that knows it won’t be around for long. Food: superb croquettes to start, other starters disappointing; lovely chocolate mousse to finish. However...Our mains were dreadful. Bland would be kind. Both our dishes were pasta both tasted of nothing. One was drowned in ink, the other had pasta that was both raw and overcooked. Service. Except the assistant chef who at times delivered dishes, the waiting staff were awkward, uncomfortable, lacking any warmth or personality and reminded me of Rami Malek in ‘Mr. Robot’. Ambience: initially looks ‘cool’ but in reality is rather cold. We had to whisper as it wasn’t busy, there wasn’t a buzz and no music to create any sort of din. This was Friday lunchtime.

This is my new Friday lunch spot. The standard menu is excellent, and Chef is always playing with something new and fun in the kitchen. Very well priced wine list. Quiet enough for a business lunch, without feeling like you're in a tomb. Will be devastated when they close next month for their move to their new location.

Fantastic meal, very innovative menu so much so I couldnt decide as could have had everything on the menu and lots I hadnt had before. The Celariac starter was an eye opener. Would highly recommend a visit.

Great little hideaway, good ambiance and helpful staff. Excellent wine list with a seasonal dining menu that I would like to experience outside the Sunday fixed menu to get a real idea of the kitchens capabilities.

A lovely evening. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. The mains, cheese and desert were brilliant. I would say that the starters - although still very good, were not quite as good. We arrived at the start, so the room was a little cold at first but it warmed up soon and was a great atmosphere. Overall, a great place to go for a memorable meal!

One of the best restaurants I have been to in 2020 so far. Food was really good as well as the service! Outstanding dish was the polenta and the chocolate dessert. Would go back just to eat those 2 dishes!!

As much as we loved the flavours of polenta + parmesan + egg - £16 for that starter was way too expensive. My steak was served too rare, but nobody came to check why I left half on the plate nor were they interested in any other feedback or our happiness that night. Some nice flavours but overall an average experience for £100.

Emile is the perfect solution if you enjoy excellent quality food but want a relaxed environment. It's as close as you can get to the feeling of eating out in a friend's kitchen dining room. It was inviting and welcoming on a very grey January mid week evening. Try it while you can.

Emile is a pure gem . The quality of the products is outstanding . And what the chefs do with it in the tiny kitchen is of highest professionally and delivers most delicious results . Each dish is a surprise in preparation,combination of ingredients and a depth and joy in taste that one wants to lick the plate - and is always in danger eating to much as one wants to have at least all starters ( highly recommended ) and naturally mains and dessert . How they can deliver all this at such moderate price is a miracle to me. Actually one would wish to be there twice a week !!!!

I have to confess that I have eaten at Emile before and it never disappoints. I love the small menu offering delicious food made with skill from excellent ingredients. It is so welcoming and relaxed and the food is innovative but with simple clear flavours that you an identify. The cheese croquettes and pink fir potatoes are a must and both the fish and pork chop are superb, my guest commented that the pork chop was the best pork dish they had ever eaten and they have tried many... Check out the customer and the critics reviews and you will understand why people return bringing their friends. A fabulous opening, Shoreditch is very lucky.

Great value set lunch menu. The hake was exceptional. The flat iron steak was good but not as memorable. We followed with the pear desert and cheese but were slightly disappointed with both. Service was spot on and made for an overall enjoyable experience.
