Food was not creative, over priced and servers were uniformed on the dishes. Basically said the fish dish came with crackers instead of cracked pepper vinaigrette. My dish was sautéed white beams with a tiny bit of spinach and mushrooms for $32.00. Should have sent it back.
Great food and ambiance and a variety of options for different dietary restrictions.
Went for Thanksgiving with set menu. Very pleased with quality of good. Special occasion prices but still a good value for meal/ ambience/location
Equinox was a lovely overall dining experience from beginning to the end.
Wonderful Thanksgiving experience!
Excellent holiday meal, food, service, experience, pace , noise level, one of our best DC meals
This was our 6th year doing Thanksgiving with Equinox (last year, we got takeout since that was the only option!). This is a standing tradition for us since our family ranges in ages from 81 to 16 with omnivores, a vegan, and a flexitarian. We love dressing up and eating the amazing food that comes with spectacular service. And it's always nice to say hi to the very friendly Chef Todd Gray each year.
One of the best brunch places in D.C area. 8 different meals that are plant based. Can't get any better :-)
As always, the experience was wonderful. The servers always go above and beyond and the food is always fantastic. Can’t thank the Equinox staff enough for helping us to have a wonderful anniversary experience!
birthday . could not fault it
Anniversary dinner. Everything and everyone was great! Excellent experience!
Delicious food and quiet, comfortable dining room. And our waiter was wonderful - very personable and helpful. Highly recommend!
Went there for a birthday celebration. The service was execellent. So was the plant based foods on the tasting menu. We also had the market tasting menu. It was good but not as good as the plant based one. We had a party of 6 and some of us did not want to get the tasting menu. However, the restaurant requires that if any one at the table gets the tasting menu, everyone in the party must get them also. That was a disappointment as some of us likes to have other a la carte dishes. Otherwise, it was a fabulous dinner event for us at a very nice restaurant.
"Plant forward", the hen of the woods dish was succulent, complex, delicious. The mushrooms were beautifully presented on colorful polenta and greens. Not sure if the quiet nature was intentional social distancing, or it just wasn't crowded on a weekday evening.
Highly recommend the Plant-based brunch on Sundays.
The plant based chefs tasting menu was delicious; however, two of the five courses were similar salads. For the price, would have preferred a completely different concept for each course.
As always, Todd's food was great. Wine selection by the glass was excellent, too.
Food was delicious, service was excellent and I would definitely recommend.
Equinox was outstanding from every point of view. We were seated almost immediately in a two person banquette with comfy seats and a good sized table. The decor was minimalist and very clean looking. The walls were done in an interest textured finish.
The menu was original and weighted towards vegan diners.
We had the endive and arugula salads to start. I have never had fresher ingredients presented better and either the right touch of fennel, candied nuts and for a real showstopper, the sautéed peaches!
Our entrees were the Hen of the Woods mushrooms and polenta along with the Delaware Rockfish served on a bed of spinach.
I have wanted to dine here since my last visit to DC three years ago and have to say it was well worth the wait!
Great vegan food! Very good service. Tables a bit too close to each other.
(Be aware of few parking options.)
The plant-based pre-fixe brunch is outstanding and well worth the price!
A special, unique spot for vegans with the Sunday brunch. I suggest some additional protein be worked into the menu, however, and perhaps a couple of non-vegan offerings as was the case when there was a buffet brunch. Regardless, I will definitely return!
Food is delicious, atmosphere was lovely - a great place for our anniversary!
The Cod was outstanding!!
This was the most amazing vegan brunch I have ever had. Remarkable. Delicious. Insanely great value. I can't wait to come back.
My salmon was over cooked and dry
The chocolate bunt cake dessert was dry and burnt.
I always love coming here. This is my go-to restaurant pick. The food is delicious and I love how it changes on a regular basis so I can try something new.
The only thing I have ever been disappointed with was a white wine sangria.
Best experience for a romantic dinner I've ever had. Staff was kind and friendly. Made our engagement feel truly special
Excellent choice for a brunch date! We took advantage of the vegan tasting and it was incredible!
Always wonderful. My go-to vegan brunch. The rest of the week is also great. Their menu has vegan options for all meals and I can always count on perfection.
I enjoyed the experience and the vegan food tasting.
great for a special birthday dinner. food was delicious and had good vegetarian options
The vegan brunch at Equinox is such a treat! Each dish is unique and so flavorful and the amount of food (A LOT!) is definitely worth $40 (+tax +tip). If you're a fan of creative, healthy, and fresh food - whether you're vegan or not - this is the place for you! I can never get enough of the granola crusted french toast.
Very mediocre food. Was expecting a vegan brunch but it was pasta/ curry. Could have made the same food at home. Felt like a place that would have been fancy in the 80s.
Wonderful food and lovely service - seated near a rowdy table but elsewhere noise levels seemed better
We wanted a spot for a celebratory Saturday night dinner and found the perfect place in Equinox. The menu is short but sufficiently varied and our appetizers, entrees, and dessert were nicely varied and very well prepared. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely keep this on our list for return visits.
While it is perfectly fine for restaurants with tasting menus to have rules on substitutions, they are typically stated upfront but at equinox there were no such markings online or at the table. A member at the table asked about substitutions and was told no. Another member at the table of 4 was not going to do the tasting menu and only wanted an appetizer and entree. The server gave them flack and said they require everyone at the table to get the tasting menu (again a rule stated nowhere) but eventually allowed it. They do not clean the table between courses which does happen at most fine dining restaurants I’ve been to but I guess that goes back to this struggle of trying to figure out if this restaurant is fine dining or not. At the end of the meal the server hands us the check and let’s us know they charge automatically charge a 20% gratuity - wow! Another rule not stated anywhere and whether I was going to tip more or less it’s very out of the blue. Personally, I typically do not tip on a bottle of wine because they are marked up enough and suddenly the $100 bottle becomes $120. That would have changed my decision to even get a bottle. As far as the food the cauliflower soup and shrimp and grits were very flavorful, the duck was fine, and the desserts were very disappointing.
The food and the service was fabulous! We got the plant-based tasting menu with the wine pairing, and it was amazing. We were seated outside, which was great (our choice), but unfortunately were right up against an open window where a large group was gathered and although they were not unnecessarily rowdy, the noise level made it a bit hard to talk and hear the server as he explained each wine pairing. But I do not hesitate to recommend the restaurant regardless, as it just works out that way sometimes and the food more than made up for the noise - it was amazing.
Our server George and his team were all great! They checked on us multiple times to make sure things were to our liking and preference. The food was presented brilliantly and prepared to everyone's delight.
This was my third time visiting Equinox and I highly recommend it for groups where vegan and non-vegan options are sought.
Awesome food, staff, and service!! Super recommended!! Left happy!!
