*Please note that on Sunday we only offer an exclusive Mezze Menu*
My boyfriend and I celebrated our 4th anniversary here and it was amazing. The ambiance is beautiful and intimate, the service is knowledgeable and so friendly, and the food is incredible. I can't reccomend this place enough!
First time but certainly not the last. A perfect Valentine outing.
Not your standard shawarma shack, Fairouz offers a gourmet middle eastern food experience. The suggestions were spot on. Three delicious dips to start, followed by delicious lamb and a sublime cauliflower side. The lamb was perfectly cooked and the garnish offered a crunchy hit of spice. The tahini sauce and pomegranate offered a wonderful salty-sweet compliment to the roasted cauliflower. The offerings are meant for sharing and we cleaned our plates! Sorry we waited so long to try Fairouz, but we’ll be back.
The food was delicious and we had absolutely great service. There was a dish we didn’t like so they didn’t charge us for it and replaced it with something else and we weren’t charged. It was our first time at fairouz and we truly enjoyed it.
Very enjoyable evening with extremely attentive service. Menu was a welcome contrast to some other standard-type fare in other establishments - we were looking for something a little different and certainly found and enjoyed our experience.
Fairouz is one of the best romantic restaurants in Ottawa to try if you are looking to treat your significant other on a special date!
It was my girlfriend’s 20th birthday. We had just walked in outfitted for our date. My girlfriend was holding a bouquet of roses I’d gotten her as well as a small gift from a well-known jewelry store. Our coats were quickly hung by 2 friendly servers and we were seated by this cute window sill – that I would have personally picked if I had the choice of seating because, honestly, it was ‘the perfect spot’. My girlfriend forgot her phone in her coat so I got up to go get it, but they told me to take a seat and they would bring her coat over to us, despite it being busy, and sure enough they did! When I was about to ask if they had something we could put my girlfriend’s flowers in, they came over with a vase with water and asked if we would like to put our flowers in it.
We were asked if we wanted ‘Still’ or ‘Sparkling’ water to start with.
For our ‘Mezze’ we had the Muhammara Dip $6 + Zaatar simply dip the pita bread into the oil then the Zataar or sprinkle the Zataar onto the oil and dip your pita into the bowl.
For our ‘Sharing Mains’ we had the Sumac Glazed Half Chicken. The plate was stacked vertically, with potatoes compactly stacked underneath most-chicken breasts. The pepper sauce was squeeze bottled into dots across the plate. All three of these ingredients put onto one fork made for one delicious bite!
For our ‘Sides’ we had the Fried Cauliflower (Tahini Sauce • Pomegranate • Sunflower Seeds). By the time we got to this course we were already pretty full. But, it was so delicious the sauce was too flavourful at this point to want to try and finish it as we were full!
We went for my daughters birthday. The service and meal were fabulous. Thank you for making the evening so wonderful.
We went there last Friday and the food was great as usual :)
Great food in a friendly warm and exotic surround. Loved the dips, chicken and fried cauliflower. Service was fab! Thanks!
This was the best meal I've had in Ottawa. The flavours were incredible, service was excellent. I also enjoyed the best cocktail of my life - the Open Sesame.
Food was ok. Service was ok. So much more value in ottawa’s restaurant scene than this!
We found it to be quite noisy. That was our only issue.
The noise level was so high, we had trouble hearing the person sitting next to us.
The food was good, but not fantastic as I remembered it used to be.
The prices very high.
If you go, i would suggest the tasting menu if they have it.
Always an enjoyable experience when I visit this restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious and presented beautifully. This time we enjoyed the signature teas with our dessert. Perfect.
Def on my fave list of restaurants in Ottawa! Staff was so sweet and the food was delicious.
Excellent meal. We were 4 people and shared almost everything on the Sunday Mezze menu. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent.
Easily my favourite place to eat out in Ottawa. Recommend if you like experimenting with food.
Lovely flavour palette- fresh nicely presented food and helpful service. Portions are generous. We had two substantial starters a main and a side between 2 hungry people and had some leftovers. Heartily recommend the liver starter and the Get Figgy with Me Margarita!
Food and service were both excellent. Music left much to be desired. Volume was loud so people had to raise their voices to be heard. It would have been great to have middle eastern music playing in the background — e.g. Anouar Brahem, Dhafer Youssef, etc. To enhance the dining experience.
The food was tasty and the service was great. Not many gluten free options. Or gluten free bread.
My husband and I were celebrating our 10 year anniversary and had the most memorable experience at Fairouz. The staff was friendly, polite, well-versed in the menu + wines and provided us with a night we will never forget. The food was another part of this unforgettable experience. We splurged on the 40 day dry aged steak, but I must say it was worth every penny. We even received an adorable anniversary dessert on the house. Bella was our main server but the overall staff did a fantastic job. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something unique and sensational.
I usually find the quality and taste of food at Fairouz consistently delicious but was a tad disappointed this time with overcooked chicken and an amazingly delicious lamb no longer on the menu. The new lamb kabob meal was just ok. The service was as usual excellent!
Excellent restaurant! A modern take on traditional middle eastern foods. As someone with Palestinian heritage, I really appreciated the fusion of familiar and new flavours. Highly recommend!
Beautiful restaurant, lots of attention to detail, elegant atmosphere, delicious food.
Chic and quiet with great Mediterranean fusion cuisine. Hard to go wrong with the menu and wine list.
I went there with my cousin and his girlfriend to celebrate her pregnancy (3people)
This restaurant is classified as high quality for me based on the price point, so my review will go accordingly.
4/5 it was a great service, the staff was friendly, helpful and pleasant. Not a 5/5 because it was not excellent (recommendation on the menu, and I did not feel personalized.
I love middle eastern food, and this was okay. Nothing was terrible, but it was not an explosion of flavor. I had the rabbit, which was the highlight of my experience.
The place is cozy, the temperature is perfect, and the ambient sound is excellent as well.
Would I go back?
No, just because what makes me want to go back is genuinely the food, and this was not special to me.
I hope this helps.
Fairouz was terrific. Had dinner there with a few friends (5 people). The food was a culinary delight with each course explained when served and talented bartenders. We absolutely loved it!
There is a fixed price menu for $60 per person, and it can get a little loud in there when full but the food is worth it!
We were entertaining co-workers from out of town so we wanted to pick a nice place that could accommodate a wide variety of picky eaters. We ended up getting a fantastic prix fixe sharing menu with many delicious options for appetizers, mains and deserts. They even tweaked the mains so the vegetarian in attendance would not be left out.
Loved the food recommendations our server made. Everything was amazing!
My wife and I had only the following mazes: carrot-tahini dip, babaganoush, muhammara and artichokes. The first three were only average, the forth awful. there were too many pomegranate seeds on the muhammara and little red pepper, the chef didn't even bother to roast the pine nuts on the babaganoush,, the carrot-tahini dip needed some sort of green herbs on top, such as cilantro, yet still the best of the maze in our sample. the artichoke was simply awful (jarred, not fresh, vinegary and tasteless artichokes, topped by an average tuna salad. Combining artichoke with tuna is a bad idea, they don't go well together).
the dessert platter was fine, but not exceptional. As an experienced home chef, my experience at Fairouz was disappointing.
Our meal was excellent, and we both liked what Fairouz has done with its space--it's a stylish update to an already cool building. Fairouz is worth keeping in mind for a nice meal out in Centretown.
Very tasty. A little bit expensive. Nice attention to give us a plate of cheese because it was à little long.
Overrated but cute...and I’m Mid. Eastern.
Wonderful experience in a lovely location. The Building itself is very interesting and obviously a heritage structure. Wonderful staff and exciting food selection... very tasty!
Delicious food, attentive service, poor lighting, a few people using cell phones to see the menu.
Everyone was really turned off by the waitress the night we went. She constantly came over to our table and kept interrupting our conversations and pushing everyone to order more drinks. We had ordered drinks, food, and even dessert. If we wanted more on top of everything we already ordered, we would have told her. It was incredibly annoying. Overall, not a great experience. Our friends came from out of town and were excited to try out Fairouz, in addition to catching up. After our experience, I don't think any of us would be returning.
Dinner on a Wednesday evening was my first experience, along with my sister and brother-in-law. We shared 3 appetizers and 2 main courses, which one waiter predicted correctly would leave us satiated. The food was outstanding. Original but well-balanced flavours, tender meats, and very artistic presentations. The restaurant also catered to my tree nut allergy appropriately. The wine list is a little pricey but sadly, this is true of all restaurants in this class so I won't fault them for this. The service was impeccable. The sound level was quite comfortable, although this inevitably depends on the other guests. The decor is very tasteful and conducive to any occasion. Fairouz gives an upscale feel without being pretentious. We will need to attend again soon to try out everything else on the menu. Highly recommended.
I went for my wedding anniversary and I cannot say enough! The service was great, the flavours were exceptional...I cannot wait to go back!
My friends and I had a great evening at Fairouz, we had amazing service (Sarah was awesome), and loved our meal. We got the set menu as we were a group of 7, and this allowed us to try a wide variety from the menu. Favorites were the cashew dip and the roasted cauliflower. The dishes were paced well, we all left full and didn't feel rushed. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, especially the "getting figgy with it". Will definitely be back!
It was my second time there. The servers were great at explaining the menu and the dishes as they brought them. I tried the Lebanese (red) wine for the first time - loved it! The Apple of My Eye cocktail was also delish. We tried all three dips plus the beet salad and shared two mains (lamb and rabbit dishes). It was plenty for three of us with no room left for dessert. We’ll definitely be back!
