Fayuca Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant delivers food that is different and unique from what you'd find at other restaurants, and this is what makes it special. The food is fresh and beautifully plated.
Interesting, well-prepared food in an appealing atmosphere with friendly, professional service. Not the usual Mexican fare, creative and well thought-out menu. Will try again for dinner, and maybe brunch.
I ordered the pasta dish which turned out to be barely edible Lipton soup noodles which were poorly flavoured - $15!!! My friend did far better with the chicken dish. The only saving grace for my meal was that it was small, probably half the size of my friend's.
i'd sent my grown kids here as a Xmas gift, a chance for all three of them & their partners to have a night out together. They had a great experience.
I thought I'd try....never again.
I found the food bland ..nothing exceptional about the taste. Very disappointing as it was a business meeting and I had read good reviews but ended up feeling embarrassed. The waiter was also not well informed about what kind of fish was being served but he did go and check.
I would actually recommend to anyone that I know to NOT go here. A nice setting does not make up for somewhat poor service and very unappealing food. My companion was also unimpressed. Not a good thing way to impress a business contact.
This is not your average Mexican food! Delicious, creative dishes served with inventive cocktails - and all with great service!
My new favourite restaurant! The food was excellent and the server gave great suggestions
After hearing many good reviews, I decided to try it out for a business lunch with a client (in town from LA), and it was a perfect choice! Food was delicious, and the service was very good - the staff are really passionate about their dishes, and offered some great light lunch recommendations. The 2 person booth seating was super cute and and I'll definitely be back again in to try the delicious looking evening menu! Yum.
Refreshingly original menu. Superb quality. Good music and ambiance.
Terrible service on New Years eve. we've been to this restaurant before (3 other times) this time we were seated in this corner where no one really could see us. Waiter does not introduce himself - as the food arrived and throughout the meal he did not once ask how the food was. Its a few minutes before midnight and I notice that the staff is handing out champagne to those still left in the restaurant (about 15-20 people) and to all the cooks and wait staff working received a glass but we don't get a glass of champagne. Now we had just spent $300.00 on dinner and drinks. It would have been nice if the staff made sure EVERYONE in the restaurant got a glass of champagne. This is the second time we've had terrible service at this restaurant.
The food was good. They have a creative twist and the flavors are great. We drew the short straw on the server so it really ruined the evening for us. I wouldn’t go back.
Fun setting for high quality Pacific-side authentic Mexican food. Ambience lively and friendly. Great service. Limited but well thought out wine list. Amazing value for money.
I love this restaurant! One of my favorite Vancouver restaurants! Only ONE improvement needs to be made: Do not make the restaurant much darker after dark. We all need to be able to read the menu, see the food/drink and able to see other people's faces too. Please make it more accessible for anyone with either night blinds or low vision too. Much thanks! :)
Very good food and good value. Definitely will go back.
The food was great but the service we found slow and sometime not attentive. Overall food great but table service needs work and even though we spent 400 for 3 people they really didn't look after us that well.
I must admit I was slow in getting around to visiting, partly because many reviews seemed negative on the food. I'm SO glad we finally made it though, and totally see both why most of the professional critics rave about it and yet many of the local reviewers not so much.
This was Mexican food only in the loosest sense - very regional in style, with many adjustments to local seasonal PNW produce, and nothing like most of the other (and let's face it, generally pretty poor) Mexican cuisine available in Vancouver. Every dish had at least a couple of strongly contrasting flavours, sometimes with an 'in-between' ingredient to help pull them together but sometimes not.
The value of the 'tasting' menu was just ludicrous - $34 for FOUR courses which retailed for $14-18 apiece for the 3 savouries. So, unlike the usual 'free dessert' level saving from a prix fixe, it was more of a 'buy two tapas, get one free AND a free dessert!' At $18 extra the 3 matched wines with the savoury courses was also very good value (smaller pours than the regular glasses, but still better value than a couple of regular glasses - and very interesting wines they were too).
Service was the only flaw - extremely friendly, but VERY slow. Resto asks that you be finished with your two-top in 1hr45min - and we didn't even get our dessert by then, and were ~2hrs 15min end to end. All the servers were very upbeat, did apologise for delays several times so it may have been a shortage of kitchen staff.
If you've been pondering about this place like I was, the only caveat I'd offer is that if you are someone who does not like bold flavours best avoided (NB: not HEAT - there was a homemade habanero sauce that had a good kick, but none of the dishes were loaded with chili; by far the most potent flavour was the garlic aioli which was akin to eating raw, fresh garlic in strength - but it just sliced through the intensely rich oxtail ragu on the pasta making a beautiful combo).
We'll definitely be back!
We were 15 mins late for our resos and front of house staff were kind and understanding (on one of the busiest holiday weekends) and shuffled things around to accommodate us.
Food was delicious, we all enjoyed the dishes and would likely recommend to a friend.
I'm not sure if it was the loud setting but our server seemed to have trouble communicating and understanding us and we ended up feeling a little uncomfortable with her demeanor. Another staff member approached our table when we were finishing up cocktails and was quite abrupt in inquiring if we were ready to wrap up before plunking the bills in front of us and rushing us out. As the atmosphere is so cozy, a more gentle approach to letting us know they were closing would have left us with warmer feelings about the experience when we left.
I've dined here a few times now and this is my only negative review. Other than this staff have been friendly enough, not over-bearing and great food and atmosphere.
The food was outstanding, and there service very good.
We were 5 friends meeting for dinner. All of the 8 share plates were creative and delicious. The service was excellent. Great cocktails.
Kitchen just needs stronger range hoods/better ventilation
Creative combinations but do not always work.
Not very authentic Northern Pacific Mexican. I grew up in Guaymas.
It can be done and I hope they refine it.
Excellent. Met all expectations. Great service and food
Really enjoy coming here. The environment is great and the food is excellent.
They menu was excellent but flavours were a litttle muted for Latin and Mexican. Good dishes. Cocktails and wine list need an evolution.
I love the food and design, and your washrooms are awful. One out of order, dingy, does not fit the style of the restaurant.
Great evening with special friends! Food was delicious, lovely the guacamole and also the cauliflower. Our waiter was very attentive and great service!
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Fayuca. We sampled cactus for the first time and loved it. The margaritas over ice were delicious.
I recommend this upscale latin american restaurant for its creativity.
Was packed so we grabbed two seats at the bar. We had great service, even while the bartenders were busy mixing drinks. In fact, they even made a couple of off the cuff cocktails for us - one was unreal! Healthy portions, healthy food!
We arrived at 4:00 (early supper) not realizing it was happy hour, 3 orders of the best guacamole and two orders of beet ceviche later we ordered our mains, Grilled Cauliflower and an Albacore Tuna crudo with greens.
Guacamole - outstanding, creamy with just enough spice
Beet Ceviche - possibly the freshest, lightest, most delicious plate of food I've ever had.
Caulifower - just enough char to add a smoky depth of flavour, delicious onion puree
Albacore Crudo - light fresh and dressed perfectly.
Service was great, friendly and informative.
Will definitely be going back. I may need to move to Yaletown.
Very much enjoyed our evening! We had a family dinner with 8 of us and shared several dishes so we could try out a lot of different items on the menu. The service was good and the food was delicious. Will be coming back for sure!
good food. Small portions.
Delicious food, wonderful staff and fun atmosphere!
Everyone was so accommodating and the food was delicious!
This place is definitely worth a visit. The food is interesting and the service was excellent.
We had a group of 6 when we had dinner at Fayuca. The food was amazing and the service was excellent too.
Excellent Food. Make sure you reserve a table in advance.
Such a wonderful meal. All the food was outstanding and fresh and flavorful. Will be back again soon
We had a great time taking our friends out to Fayuca, the food was very different and flavourful, inventive, and the service solid. A little loud, but overall a fantastic positive experience.
We had a fantastic time dining and celebrating a birthday. The staff are all knowledgeable polite and efficient. I was so impressed the first time I went there that I went with my kids 4 days later again.
The decor is refreshing stylish and
Calming. The bar and drinks are
On trend and the food is fantastic
Service wasn’t great and neither was the food. Food took a while to hit the table and waitress didn’t stop by once to ask how our food was. Overall was a disappointment
