Although the food is quite decent, the service is one of the worse my group have experienced in Vancouver.
The waiters lack training. Many mistakes from orders, to how they handle customer feedback and the mistakes on the bill, the whole experience was horrible.
Too bad as the restaurant is beautifully decorated, great location and has nice menu.
Work on good management!
Incredible food!! Every plate was delicious. Follow the recommendation of picking several platea and sharing!!
We had a delicious dinner to celebrate my friend’s birthday!
I'm really sad to find out that Fayuca is closing its doors on June 23rd and moving to Mount Pleasant. No word on where or if the restaurant will stay the same, but I'll be dreaming about that roasted beet ceviche until then. I know what you're thinking, "roasted beet ceviche?"Let me tell you, it was bomb. It was a surprise of textures and crunch with that expected tartness that comes with ceviche. The hot sauce they bring to the table is fabulous (quick heat that fades slowly) and I'm very shy when it comes to spice, so take that with a grain of salt. The dish was beautiful to say the least, and the flavours matched. The following dish of black rice with Dungeness crab was the perfect juxtaposition after the bright and colourful ceviche. I love the nutty flavour of wild rice, and this rice had the same nuttiness. Combined with the green salsa verde or aji verde and it was a perfect bite. I LOVE rice, and this was delicious. The next octopus and pork belly dish was what I was looking forward to the most, and it was alright. The octopus was well cooked. and tender, but the dish was thin and anemic looking. Didn't feel like I got value for the money on this one, and the flavours were too oily without much substance. It wasn't terrible just very average.
Finally the last dish of oxtail fideo pasta was so umami and delicious. Fatty and sumptuous and just downright delicious. I could have eaten this all night, except it was so rich and filling I couldn't. I want to come back for the ceviche and oxtail but I'll have to wait for the new location to open in the fall.
Service was okay but the servers were not very helpful with food recommendations. I asked which dishes were best for sharing and the sauver said » they are all for sharing » in a snotty tone . It was my first time there and we are from another city so had no context for the menu so I was disappointed in her attitude. Food was just okay but the location is great and the patio was quite nice.
As a mexican I was excited to try their interpretation of mexican food. The food was good, but it was not exciting and it did not really feel that mexican. Wouldn't recommend it to someone that wants mexican food, for me it's menu seems open to interpretation.
Interesting and excellent fusion of Mexican and Northwest foods. Pleasant hardworking staff.
Very accommodating of our group and we had a great time!
fantastic experience, inventive food, good service, great value, just a bit loud, but will surely return.
We had an enjoyable experience. The food and drinks provide something different from other "Mexican" restaurants and our dining companions, Mexicans themselves, confirmed that they had enjoyed similar offerings in their homeland. We enjoyed the appetizers (including some amazing guacamole) and desserts more than the main courses, which were all small portions and rather bland. Perhaps we needed to add some spice. But overall, we look forward to visiting Fayuca in its new location.
Foods are original and flavourful, although missing some spice. Service is unrushed and friendly.
Just terrible in every sense i was so disappointed.
Excellent restaurant! 4 of us shared guac, barbacoa , rockfish and duck dumplings. All of the dishes were so very tasty. I think this is the best guacamole I have ever had.
We met with one of my husband’s work colleagues and her husband and it was a very relaxed atmosphere .
Everyone enjoyed the fresh food and the unique North Mexican flavors . We appreciated the fact it was not overpriced. We will come again !
Was disappointed with the taste of the food; expected something more exciting. Had tried to get into Fayuca the weekend before and ended up at Anatoli - whose good is more appealing, and tastier.... found their fish portion size too small - camouflaged with potatoes to make it look larger. ....will give it another try.
Love, love, love this restaurant!!! This was my second time and it did not disappoint. Took my mom for early Mother’s Day dinner. Food is so fresh, creative and delicious! Margarita’s with Mezcal is a must have! Service is excellent. Highly recommend this place!
A taste treat! The guacamole and the flank steak were extraordinarily good...definitely gonna repeat those. The beet ceviche was also very tasty. We went early on a Friday night, so it wasn’t too busy yet. The wait staff were all friendly and attentive. NOT your typical Tex-Mex kinda joint; and not cheap either.
Dishes were tasty, but don't expect true Mexican cuisine. It's contemporary Pacific Northwest cuisine with some Mexican ingredients and flavours. (Was disappointed by how my cactus tasted, compared to what I had in Mexico City before.)
Menu portions are shockingly small for their price, not really getting enough value, even though the food was tasty, it's not entirely worth it.
The restaurant is gorgeous and our waiter had great service.
Delicious food. Personable and professional service. Beautiful interior design.
The food was really disappointing, the carnitas tasted a week old, it was so dry. The salad had no dressing. I have no idea how you could screw up carnitas, its the simplest Mexican dish to make.
Food was overall underwhelming and the music was beyond loud. Been there done that Fayuca.
Great to taste a variety of foods from Mexico that are not the standard version of what North Americans experience as Mexican. The Mescal flight was a great adventure as well.
Really interesting fusion concept and well done. Love anywhere building food not walls! Great location in Yaletown on a low-rise street and an easy walk to Skytrain or across the Cambie Street bridge to the south shore of False Creek/Olympic Village neighbourhoods.
Overall, a great experience with very friendly staff and a unique menu!
Great food, perfect margaritas! Will be back.
We had a reservation at Fayuca and were really looking forward to a good Mexican dinner with friends from the UK. But the music was so loud we could hardly hear each other. So we left and went to another restaurant up the street that was wonderful and quieter. You guys really need to create an ambiance that isn't loud so people can enjoy each other and the food.
Unique food experience.
This place has amazing food and environment is lovely. Price is high but worth checking out
just great..evryone loved the food and our servers were lovely
I made a reservation for 2, they gave us such an amazing table, we absolutely loved the design and decor. We ordered some drinks, we love that they have such great natural wines. We ordered a few things to share: the mushroom tostadas are insanely amazing, I though about ordering more and just having that lol but we had ordered more things, like the octopus and pork belly which was soooo good we were practically licking the plate. For reals-the server was ready to take the empty plate and we didn't let him. We also ordered the shishito peppers, they lasted for a few seconds. The oxtail fideo is definitely a favorite, you can never go wrong with that! We couldn't make up our minds about dessert so we ended up getting 2- the chocolate mousse which is the fanciest and yummiest take on s'mores you will ever have & the buñuelos, which were amazing, the flavors and textures exploding in your mouth creating non stop waves of joy. I want to have dinner here forever. All the servers are so nice and explain every dish with detail, which makes it all more magical. I'm forever crushing on the chef- if you're reading this, I'm your #1 fan. 10/ 10
2 couples out for dinner before a show. We had a reservation for 5:30. First time at this restaurant and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Recommended some drink and food options. They recommend family style - the food was amazing!! Fresh ingredients, unique spin on Mexican food. Great cocktail list and wine and beer options.
Would highly recommend for dinner with friends, date night, or girls night out. Will be a repeat customer!!
A must-go: interesting, flavourful dishes; appealing share-plate format; very reasonable prices - novel for Yaletown; plus great service and space.
The awful chocolate mousse changed what had been a good meal. I assume those were baked tortillas in it and they weren't a good idea. There was an inspid sauce with chili with it and the chocolate flavour managed to be bland instead of intense. Also it would have been nice to have non alcoholic options in mixed drinks- I mean something more than fermented juice or Mexican soda. Maybe they exist but the waiter didn't mention any when I asked. Having servers reach in front of us to take away dishes or serve water is unpleasant but fairly common in this city. On the other hand, the grilled nopales with halloumi was delicous, as was the guacamole and homemade fried tortillas. Lastly, we had to raise our voices to be heard about the music but I guess some diners like it that way.
Loved this restaurant for the beautiful decor and excellent service. I was celebrating with my niece and it was a lovely spot to do this. The menu is really interesting and very veg friendly, which we appreciated. I was expecting a bit more punch with the flavors and was surprised that there didn't seem to be a great deal of flavor from chili or citrus, something I would have expected. I'd go there again, overall it was an enjoyable experience!
Delicious food! Loved all appetizers.
We had Sunday dinner at Fayuca with friends and we were delighted with the choice. Situated in Yaletown this mexican restaurant can easily be reach by transit...which is preferable since parking can be a nightmare in yaletown at anytime. The mexican theme was tastefully done...just hate those oversized sombreros in other places...with a muted clay and white colour scheme. There is an outdoor patio if desired but we decided to stay inside. For the 4 of us our charming waiter recommended shared entrees. We ordered the beet ceviche, grilled cactus, grilled cauliflower, guacamole (of course) and the lamb barbacoa. Everything we had was tasty. Since my dining companions are not as adventurous as I am, the next time I come here I'll try the mackerel ceviche which I couldn't find on their website. Their brunch menu also looks inviting! Well worth a visit.
The place was nice & cozy. The service was just ok since the waitress was very busy. The appies and main food were good (Best to be 4-5 people so you can share and try different things) . I have to say the desserts felt lacking though. I do recommend this place to a friend but don’t expect amazing service (does feel like you are in Spain!)
Loved the vibes sitting at the bar and the lamb tacos were incredible. We’ll be back!
We love Fayuca! The ambiance, food, and the service are all usually excellent. This visit was the first time we had an awful server. She repeatedly rolled her eyes at us, snapped at one of the guests for moving seats, and ruined our overall experience. It was especially disappointing as I had brought my closest girlfriends to Fayuca to celebrate my birthday.
