Located in the center town of Ottawa (149 Kent Street), Festival Japan Restaurant has been serving the Ottawa community for more than 30 years. It provides a large variety of authentic Japanese food ranging from sushi, sashimi to hot plate including teriyaki chicken, steak and seafood prepared by Japanese chefs. High quality customer service and high quality food production are the basic principles of the restaurant.

Food came out quick and we were greeted promptly at the door. It did help that we were the first people there. The tempura, nigiri and tuna rolls were good. So was the salmon roll. Wife got chicken teriyaki and that was delicious carrots were seasoned well. A bit over priced for the entire experience though.

Tasty food with generous portion. The steak was perfect, salad were very fresh. Shrimp tempura were big and yummy. Sushi combo had different types of sashimi rolls, worth to try. Service was great. Highly recommended.

Most positive point was the ambience, as a band was playing Brazilian music which was very nice. Food was OK, but we expected more sophisticated cuisine since we were there toncelebrate an anniversary. Overalm, it was your typical asian restaurant.

I went to Festival Japan for lunch for the first time in a number of years. They’ve redecorated and the decor is gorgeous. The food and service was a wonderful as always. My only critique would be the fact that they no longer serve “standalone” sushi at lunch; that is now only available at dinner. However, the lunch menu offered lots of choice and which included a sushi roll with most of the Bento box options. I will go again, for lunch and dinner, and highly recommend this restaurant.

Good place to grab a bite for lunch or dinner. The salmon sashimi was fresh and buttery, the maki rolls (spicy salmon, spicy tuna, rainbow) were flavorful and uniquely dressed with possibly seaweed and horseradish. Service is friendly and casual. It’s not fine dining though and the restaurant’s current 4-star rating on OpenTable is too high. Ambiance feels like a bar and cafeteria in a basement. At one end of the space, there were a couple of tatami rooms and a few tables divided by screens. More of that would be great!

The sushi didn't taste fresh, and the udon felt more expensive than average places. It didn't taste impressive either. My group and I weren't very impressed.

Very good Japanese food and Saki. Would return again. Only negative for is is we like the older feel of restaurant (ambience) prior to the renovation .
