Fionn MacCool's - Grant Park
Please note that unless otherwise requested reservations may be seated at high top tables in our lounge.
Our first time at Fionn MacCool's. It was recommended by a friend to try their Fish and Chips. It was a Friday and we were in the mood for fish. We were not disappointed. The fish was done to perfection. Light batter, not over cooked! The fish was fresh, moist and
delicious! The service was a wee bit scarce when we first arrived. The server once we had her attention she was very attentive. We will be back to try further menu items. Maybe St. Paddy's day for a green beer ;)
I enjoy going to Fionn's after a movie at Grant Park. The food is excellent, the service good, and (so long as the noise level isn't too high--which it often is, unfortunately) it's a great place to talk. I was with 6 friends and everyone had a really good time.
There were five us and we all enjoyed our meals. First time for all of us and we all liked the feeling of the building. Varied menu with lots of choices. Three of us had the fish and chips which were wonderfully.
Our waitress was efficient and very friendly.
I should have read the menu closer wasn’t crazy on the mini yorkie’s as they are filled with ground beef. Last time I had the French onion soup and it was excellent. My husband had the butter chicken, it was ok but Orginal Joe’s butter chicken is better.
Service was slow &incongruous at times! Food was good , cauliflower bites was exceptional
Quiet at 1 pm. Choice of seating. Nice service. Food pretty good esp the salmon pie. Power bowl could have used more flavouring on the veg. Chicken added for $5 was skimpy and overcooked. Price Point otherwise is fine. Nice ambience.
We had a lovely time. Just my husband and I had the shepherda pie. It was delicious!! It was very filling. and arrived very hot. I don't like meals served cool or cold. We even enjoyed dessert ( which we seldom do) . Absolutely delicious
Loved the live music of Grant the one man band. Great show! Waitress was fantastic, very helpful and had a few laughs with our group. Meal was ok. Yes I would consider going back.
Gift cards not working .....check before you go to Fionns grant ?????? Balance deleted before ever using !!!!!!
Great location. Good pub atmosphere. Good selection of beer. Good daily specials.
Dinner for 4 after a movie. Salmon was good. Chowder was filling. Good Rueben. Very busy so service a bit slow. Pleasant server. Noisy. Definitely not a place for a romantic date. Decent value for the price.
great food, loved the atmosphere and the price was good for the value
Love the vegan options. Would love to see the vegan menu offered upfront, or one at each table, rather than having to ask for it each time because not every plant based person is aware they are available .
New Years Eve snacks were great. Service was so friendly and the wings were crispy and tasty. Thanks for a nice evening!
Super great food and amazing value! The server was great. Had a slight issue with this particular meal (which never happens), but was attended to and fixed promptly!! Great place to go to, always.
Service is always excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food is mostly pub style, and is priced similarly to competitors. Good drinks and large bar top make this a good place to watch sports games
Good food and service! Very loud atmosphere! A quieter ambience would have made for a better experience.
Service was excellent. We had mini Yorkies for an appetizer and they were delicious. 3 of us had fish and chips and 1 had shepherds pie. The pie was a bit top heavy with potatoes. However great flavour was enjoyed by all of us. Not too noisy for visiting.
I am not a complainer at all and will easily rate a restaurant with the highest score when I have enjoyed my experience. We used to like dining at Fionn. The food was good and the atmosphere was vibrant. Unfortunately things have changed.
As I am not a big eater, I never finish my food and have to take it home. Yesterday I ordered a Chicken Pot Pie. It wasn’t a pot pie at all. It was an ordinary chicken pie, small, flat and very little meat. The accompanying salad consisted mostly of baby spinach and was very small. My husband ordered the Shepherds pie with fries. First time we ever finished our meals and were still hungry afterwards. Our server gave the impression of disinterest but became more attentive before tip time.
A plus point is the house wine at $4 per 5oz and the lady at reception who wished us a good day as we left.
Sad to say, we will not return.
Service was good but they missed one of the meals. Made it up quickly. Pricey compared to other pubs. My wife's fettuccine was very under-cooked but why would one expect good Italian food in an Irish pub. Fish and chips were great as was the reuben sandwich.
Great location! Good beer choices and specials. Shepherds pie cud use more meat and less mashed potato. Was a bit disappointing.
I enjoy going to Finn McCool restaurant. The food is delicious. I particularly like the Rueben. It’s one if the best Ruebens I’ve had.
On Friday, Nov. 22, I had steak for supper. Unfortunately, it was very tough and hard to cut. I should have sent it back, but didn't. I couldn't eat it all. The others had a very good meal.
All was good!
End of a long day of moving and had a great meal, great service, all around good experience
First time in this restaurant. Reservation with requested preference of standard seating, when we arrived, we were offered bar stool and high table would have taken it if my 85 year old mom is not with us. She wouldn’t be able to get to chai without being lifted. Host explained that they never got the preference for seating request and as was apologetic. I asked if how long is wait for standard seating, we were told that can’t give us any time. We were ready to leave when they immediately offered us a table with standard seating. Lady manager approached us and apologized for the miscommunications. We offered us a complimentary appetizer and free dessert for my wife who’s celebrating her birthday. Food was great. Would have given a higher rating had for the seating problem. Kudos for great service .
We always enjoy going to Fionns whether it be for lunch or dinner. We have also taken out of Province guests for dinner. Everything was a superb though I must say it was a bit on the noisy side.
I know you have no control when it comes to parents bringing their children & allow them to do whatever. I did notice a incident whereby a child was allowed to run up & down the bench seat where people sit & the mother thought it was all so cute, at least it appeared that way. Like I said, I know you have no control over things like that. Just venting.
We will be back. Thank you
Shepherds pie for both of us - thoroughly enjoyed.
Took a while for someone to see us once seated. Order was taken but nothing was written down. My French onion soup tasted great but was only luke warm. Main courses came but I was brought food I never ordered. My wife had the fish and chips which were awesome!!!!!! She says they are the best in town. The burger I ordered once it came was hot and delicious. Unfortunately we didn’t get to dine at the same time .... that’s what dinner out together is about. We received a 50% discount which is appreciated...however I would have loved a problem free dinner.
FM I s still highly recommended
Good menu options. Cauliflower appetizer was light and enjoyable; Lobster beet and goat cheese salad was very flavourful and filling. Personally would prefer more healthier options however what is available is very good.
My husband had the fish and waffle fries, I had the fettuccine Alfredo, we shared breaded salt and pepper wings, and everything was delicious. We made reservations ahead of time and had requested a booth which we received. It was a great evening!
They had great service and the menu options are excellent. There are also very different items they have that you can get anywhere else, like their traditions Irish food. Super good
Even though we had a reservation, no table was ready for us. Had to go into a booth near the kitchen entrance where staff had their stuff. What's the point of a reservation if they don't have a decent spot for you?
It was good
Military discount was completely unexpected but appreciated. That’s what made the value worthwhile. The live music / entertainment was definitely something that gave it a more authentic feel. Noise level was loud during our night but not overbearing.
We ordered Calamari - best we ever had ! Stacked codwich and beef dip items decent but bland ... would try something different next visit. Was expecting a more home made type French fries but seemed to be regular frozen variety. It was very busy and somewhat noisy but aside from that a nice place to meet and grab a bite. Would go back and try other menu items. Service was very good.
Quick supper before seeing a movie. The food was great, it was quick. Prices were reasonable. Love the specials. Will definitely be back
It was a birthday. The food was delicious. The service was great. I have been to Fionn MacCool’s a few times and have enjoyed the restaurant every time. I must admit that I love the Rueben sandwich. It is the best Rueben in the city. Thanks.
The food, service, and ambiance were perfect. We were celebrating my birthday and nothing could have been more perfect!!
