We used to eat here for the weekend buffet brunch, which was one of our favorite places considering cost and the night quality of food/meat. But since they changed the menu to bunch a la carte, the quality went down unfortunately. Our entrees were small in size and flavors were just ok. My mother in law ordered a well done steak and had to send it back because it was medium well. They put the same steak back on the grill and it came back still pink and slightly bloody, which is something a person doesn’t want to see if they ask for well done. I ordered the brisket Benny and it seemed like they took one slice of brisket, cut it in half, and laid each half on top of the cornbread. The cornbread part was overly sweet and overpowered the taste of the brisket. Other members of our party ordered the pork chop and was very disappointed in its size. They chops were way too thin and the glaze was too sweet.
Overall we were disappointed since we used to love this place. We did have great wait service and I still love the ambiance of the restaurant, but unfortunately, we will not be returning since the quality and flavors of the food were unsatisfactory.
They cancelled the reservation due to a non-existent rain and provided no notification or notice. Horrible service, won't be going back there.
The ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. The whole staff was welcoming and friendly. The pork belly was melt in your mouth delicious. I ordered their bacon burger and it was the juiciest, most flavorful burger I’ve ever had. It was my first time there, and I was pleasantly surprised at how this establishment far exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be coming back again.
I always love it here. Great veggies.
They went back to the menu for brunch instead of buffet much better food
Great venue but service is quite poor. We were sat and waiting over 15 minutes before I went back to the hostess stand to ask for some kind of service. After 20 minutes, we finally got water and a server. We ordered and our meal can but no sign of our appetizer. We drank our drinks and ate our meal. We had wanted a second drink but the server never came back asking if we wanted anything else. When we were done and asked for the check, our appetizer showed up.
Brunch buffet was exceptional! Highly recommended.
All staff were gracious and accomidating. The birthday girl had a wonderful brunch! Mahalo Nui🌺
Great outdoor space with plenty of fantastic food options.
They handled a large group of 11 with joy and kindness. Food was great.
Appreciate how kid friendly they were and the outdoor seating was great! Our server was very helpful and we had a great birthday dinner for my husband.
I made a reservation for four people to have a Wednesday night dinner. We were running behind and rushing to try get there on time so we wouldn't lose our reservation. To our surprise, the restaurant was almost empty...including the staff. There was no host/hostess to greet us when we arrived and we were told by the bartender (because we had to walk into the bar to find someone who worked there) to seat ourselves. This annoyed me because I specifically chose a restaurant that accepted reservations so that we would be guaranteed a table. Had it been packed we would have been out of luck. Anyway, the food and drinks were good. A bit overpriced because portion sizes were tiny (appetizer we thought we would share was literally one bite per person), but the ambiance was nice (minus the airplane noise overhead every 5 minutes, but I knew that ahead of time since we've been to Liberty Station a million times before). I would definitely go back.
Great food and great outdoor seating
Thursday night so it was really dead. Service was great, but they messed up my friends order twice so I thought it was nice they took it off the bill without even having to ask. My flatbread (shishito pepper and mozzarella) was so so. The decor is cute and if it was warmer, the patio is beautiful with fire pits and sparkly lights. The cornbread with honey butter is yummy!
The service was good. The food okay. May want to try once, but that's all.
We were so excited to go for my Dads birthday but the food was less than impressive. The pork ribs were incredibly tough and inedible. We rarely saw our waiter. I’m sad about this experience.
3 birthdays
The brisket was fatty and expensive. There are better bbq places in SD. We sat inside because it was very cold outside. I’m sure on a warmer night we would have enjoyed the atmosphere of the outside patio. The inside area was VERY loud.
Great food, service and ambiance. Only irritating part was the planes flying over otherwise it was great
Great menu and ambiance. Enjoyed dinner. Only issue was that we asked for a table inside as it was chilly outside. Lots of tables outside with gas heaters. Inside, both restaurant doors were wide open. We were quite cold, so rushed out faster than we would have wanted. Next time we'll try the patio with heaters.
Maybe they were overwhelmed and understaffed because it was restaurant week, all 3 meals arrived at different times and the food was cold. The service was slow.
Those grits! If I had to live on food for the rest of my life....Everything we tried, the chicken thighs, brisket, and especially the espresso caramel pie, rocked our world. Going to be back!
Great outdoor restaurant with nice garden BBQ feel. Very good happy hour food and drink offerings at an excellent value. Will go again.
Went on a date night during restaurant week after an article describing this location as highly recommended to check out. Food was okay. Half chicken was dry as were the brisket tacos. Service was fine. Overall it was an underwhelming experience.
I wanted to like this place but the food was meh. The service was slow and included our waitress trying to give us someone elses food. I had to flag her down to get water refill and since she left mashed potatoes ask her if the other might want it too. We ended by asking for our dessert in boxes which took 10 minutes. At $100 so not worth it.
Fireside by the Patio was a treat! We got in right away with a reservation without having to wait for our whole party. Host and server were great. The server knew we were short on time and was helpful with all selections. Loved that most tables are not right next to each other. The tables for two could be farther apart. Dogs were allowed but hardly even realized they were there- thank you dog owners! Food was delicious and while not huge portions- they are rich so wouldn’t want large portions. Beautiful night and friendly staff! Will definitely go again!
the pateo areas are amazingly charming and warm andinviting FOod is pricey although good, small portions. Our waiter had other things to do and charge a $15 corckage fee because a friend brought a birthday girf of a bottle of wine.Disappointed in that but other than our waiter, it's a beautfil setting. Unbeatable
I love the venue, even if the planes can be an inconvenience from time to time. It is cozy and hip and the service is very good. However, the food is really declining. One drink had to be returned - and at the prices they charge for a cocktail they should be right. The salmon entree is extremely over priced for the size of fish, especially when it comes with virtually nothing. The pork chop was tasty and good enough for two ladies to share. Cornbread, as always, yummy. However when we left we all felt that we paid way too much for what we got.
Fireside was, generally, a very nice experience. The casual ambience was great. Our server was appropriately attentive and had great acuity, meaning he knew when to talk to us and when to leave us alone--something I really appreciate. As for the food...Well, I wasn't that impressed. The starters were great, and the wine was excellent, but I felt the main entrees were a little disappointing. I had the chipotle rubbed tri-tip and both my date and I thought it was way too dry and somewhat flavorless. However, with that said, I did really like the place and certainly would enjoy giving it a second try.
Planned brunch buffet with kids after ice skating for 7 yo bday party. Sat at a shady table for relaxed brunch. Kids loved the food - we all did. Great price, peaceful, they served our birthday cake. Great choice for brunch.
The overall experience was disappointing. It’s highly expensive for mediocre food and horrible service. The food: a so so hamburger and dry, overcooked potatoes should not be that expensive. The experience: server barely came to our table and was running around in a frenzy, we had to go find our own cutlery for the pork chop because we couldn’t get our server to help, drinks had to be hunted down. Its like we were just left to our own devices to serve ourselves. Waiter never even noticed or apologized for it. Just dropped the check and ran away again.
Outdoor seating was lovely and the heaters really kept us warm. We enjoyed the shishito peppers and flatbread but the pork belly was undercooked and fatty. Overall experience with service was slow, order was not correct.
Amazing as always!
I’ve been to Fireside many times. They used to have a spectacular salad that is no longer on the menu, so I ordered this avocado and bacon salad. It was so bland I didn’ even finish it. I could have made a better salad at home and saved $15.😞
A group of us went to Fireside following a board meeting and were delighted that the waiter (Chris, I think)
rushed our order through to make sure we got the Happy Hour prices...which are exceptional! Excellent selection of items to be either shared or for individuals, all around $6. We sat outside which could have been a bit cool but he started the heaters up on either side of us so everyone was comfortable. We were all very pleased with everything...food, ambiance, service and value!
The restaurant seating is mostly outdoors. We went on a Saturday night about 7:30. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, yet the service was below average. We had several folks sporadically attending to us with no one seemingly responsible for our table. When they did stop by it was to slow their stride and drop something on the table and run. Very weird.
The food was good. The heater by our table was broken, but instead of moving us to another open table, they provided us with blankets.
We would try again, guessing that this experience was flukey.
Great patio dining, great food. VERY noisy so close to flight path of airport
Good as always
Loved the Liberty Station area, first time to visit and found Fireside by the Patio as we explored. We sat on the patio outside (in October!) Ordered a few plates and shared. The arugula salad was a little spicier than expected. The pork chop was delicious!
Con, our server Taylor was very rude. Not attentive and seemed annoyed with us from the very beginning. Pro, food was good and I like the ambiance.
