After reading a great menu on Hyatt’s website of this restaurant and calling ahead to make a reservation, I was very disappointed when we checked in and was told it was buffet only. And a not so tasty one at that. When I questioned if it was an off night, they said no, and that it’s been buffet for years and Hyatt just hasn’t updated the website. I went to the bar restaurant next door, and with an hour wait, we decided to try the buffet as we were all hungry. Hind sight, wish we had waited for the other restaurant. The buffet was “South of the Border” themed. The food was horrible. Your basic Mexican restaurant would put this food to shame. Only good things there were roasted veggies and tortilla soup. The rest was pretty gross considering how much they charge. For two adults and two kids, our bill was $128 plus a tip. This was just food, and did not include any alcoholic beverages. For what we paid, the food was unacceptable. The only good thing about our dinner was that our waitress was great and attentive.

The breakfast buffet is really good, but the dinner is not at all. Poor food quality and only a buffet offered.

We booked the NYE meal described on the FB page. I received a call on the 30th asking if we wanted to eat in the ballroom or the restaurant. I asked which is better and they put us in the restaurant. They called again at 7:40 on NYE to tell us that we could come early since fireworks began at 9. Very late notice. We arrived at 8:30. Had we arrived at our reserved time, there would have been no service as the carving station wrapped up at 9. The menu was NOT at all what was described. The buffet was almost over. There was brisket and sausage, but none of the meal described- no prime rib; no oysters. They were out of the wine I ordered. They were out of chicken. We were disappointed. We ate, paid our ticket and left. I feel we were not informed properly of the event.

Our family had dined at the Firewheel cafe for Christmas in 2020 and had a very nice experience; however, this year was pretty bad. The food on the buffet likely would not have passed any kind of inspection - it was room temperature at best. The buffet line was dirty w/ food spillage along the counter. Instead of cleaning the dried food mess employees were just standing around chatting. Essentially you had to interrupt them to request what you wanted - they didn't automatically offer to assist you. The waitress that served our drinks stood there staring at us instead of greeting us and requesting our drink order. Service was also exceptionally slow - especially given how few people were dining there. Overall, we were very disappointed in our dining experience there this year. Last year I recommended this place to others - I will not be doing that this year.

We made dinner reservations for Christmas with our family this is the fifth year in a row that we have done the Christmas buffet at the Hyatt resort between San Antonio and Bastrop resorts and this was by far the worst that we have ever had! The food was cold and disgusting way over priced for the variety of food and the quality was very poor. The beef Wellington was so dry and the breading was crispy hard. The salmon was over cooked all the vegetables were bland and gross and they very had little variety. For a family of five it cost us almost $500 it was $60 a person for the Buffet normally this is a treat that we look forward to every single year and what a disappointment it was we all left with stomach aches. So disappointed Hyatt!

Meal and service were excellent, particularly because it was buffet style. Dessert selections could improve (ice cream!). A bit pricey, but it's at the Hyatt resort so not a surprise.

Christmas Buffet….the food was NOT good and certainly nothing special! Absolutely NOT worth $60 per person…PLUS 18% “service charge”!!!! Won’t make that mistake again!!!!
