Fishbone By The Lake
A fantastic venue for all sorts of events. Have your wedding ceremony on the beach and reception all at same location.... just 40 minutes from Downtown Toronto.
We were 3 patrons. Food was delicious & very beautifully plated. Service was attentive ...quick....polite w smiley faces. We thoroughly enjoyed the culinary & visual experience.
Although service was evident, it was not invasive & we had much opportunity to visit & chat!!!
wish there were more menu choices. Excellent hostesses. Brilliant booking system, Wonderful views. Service was faster than normal.
Fabulous view - absolutely perfect for a Friday lunch with a friend. Good wine, great food, good service - what more can someone ask for?
I was disappointed in the food serving sizes, I ordered the fish and it was very small and hardly any veggies. I was really hungry going in and left almost as hungry. Also the waitress was a bit snippy with me when I asked the second time for another drink.
Food was very good. Service was slow (it was very busy). It was quite loud nearby as there was a large group under the canopy area. We sat just next to the canopy area. I would definitely go there again but would ask for a table under one of the umbrellas at the other side of the patio.
Everything was very good and service was great. I did think the crab dip was a little too watery but tacos and beet salad were fabulous!
Food was great service was slow and not very attentive first time there will not go back and will not recommend
Gorgeous views of the lake while dining. Busy even for weekday lunch so make a reservation and they will only seat you at reservation time even if tables available earlier. They have high chairs but no boosters.
Some of their finer entrees are a little pricey for the quantity. We had the yellow fin tuna, which was delish!! but they could add a side of rice or potatoes for the cost. Ambience can't be beat. One of our favourite date night spots.
Enjoyed a lovely summer day, sitting by the lake eating a tasty lunch. Couldn’t resist finishing with the Cupcake in a jar!
Excellent! Excited to go back
Love the feeling there our waiter was great. I just found the prices a little high for the quality.
The only negative thing I can say is “why did it take me so long to visit this amazing spot only 20 minutes from Newmarket”. Loved it so much have planned a girls night on July 20th. Fishbone on the Lake is now one of my new favourite places to go in the summer.
The location is A+ however, the quantity & quality of the food is not worth the money we paid. It needs to be a little more.
Would not recommend it to friends because its too expensive in relation to what you get.
I would go back again ! The food of all our 4 meals was wonderful.
Our waitress was very good.
All 3 Seafood dishes overcooked/dry, under seasoned. Portions also very small.
The octopus was overpriced.
Small portion. - either increase the portion x 3 or reduce the price to $16
Amazing view and great ambiance with patio and cute fairy lights. Would NOT recommend for big groups (6+ people) due to the automatic 18% gratuity you must pay. Also be wary if you are celebrating your birthday here - they charged a $15 “cake service” fee without letting me know when I brought in my own cake. Food portions are a bit small for what you get. I’d recommend the burgers or any of the appetizers, but stay away from the Shrimp Linguine - very strange sour taste and sauce was very liquid-y. Overall nice restaurant for a date night or small group of 2-4 friends.
Our table was not ready on time. We ordered drinks, the bill for drinks had to be paid separately. It was very noisy so we could not talk to each other. I specified that I wanted a nice table for a special occasion and it was directly in the middle of a bunch of big and noisy tables with children. The portions were small. The washrooms were very old and not working properly.
Enjoyed the food. Squid was superb.
Lovely views of lake. Food was tasty and real; not overly salted like some restaurants. Had the mussels appetizer. Tasty with delicious broth. We had the halibut main and shrimp linguini. My shrimp linguine was very good and husband like the taste of halibut but for the price it was way too small. For dessert, we had the creme caramel and parfait in a cup. My parfait was delicious and large, where as my husband's creme caramel was too small. However, we agreed that all of the foods were very tasty. Prices just don't match a few of the items on the menu. Overall a lovely experience but not sure about the price on some items, other items price was fair.
Not quite enough personal service. Never asked how our meal was. Amber beer not on the menu. Seated pretty promptly at reservation time, but we reserved early as anything after 630 pm is crazy. Appetizers are too pricey. Wood Oven Pizza is fabulous. #StouffvilleTravelAgent recommends #Fishbone as the BEST for ambiance.
Girls lunch out, was great
The location right by the lake is just lovely and our waitress was super friendly!!
Food was just okay...... not outstanding. Server appeared bored and uninterested.
this place is a "jewel" outdoor dining, great food, good service, and the view!! it is a summer time must
Excellent meal staff and wonderful view.
Nice location ... Food is great . We enjoy to go to this place every summer :)
Had a great time. Yummy food and beautiful view. Will go again.
Wonderful view of Musselmans Lake and great Portuguese food. Book well ahead as they are busy on weekends.
Unfriendly limited menu no decent white wine. Second visit, went for the ambience. Will not be back.
I've been there a couple of times. Love the ambience, however think the food is average.
We had booked a reservation weeks ahead. When we arrived we were shown to a table for two right at the end in front of the kitchen. There were tables available on the waterfront and we requested that we change but they said it is their policy not to change tables. In the meantime the waterfront tables were given to walk ins. It was a very very hot day and it was almost a unbearable where we were. Some fans or another system should be put in place. We started ordering, we got their signature dishes but they were all mediocre. Maybe the pizza would have been better. But it was our anniversary and we thought of taking nicer plates. It was not a good call. More waterfront tables emptied and we asked to move again, only to hear our waitress have a talk with the manager about what to tell us. They did not even care that we were listening to them. We continued with our dinner, sweating. The restaurant was now almost empty and even then they did not offer to move us up front to enjoy our desert in front of the water. This was totally unexceptable, because frankly the view is only what is worth going for there. We left in a hurry because so many mosquitos were all over us. We had sprayed the anti mosquito products on us but there were so many mosquitos. .. They should do something about that too. It was not one of our best anniversary dinners to say the least. They had no intention of pleasing the customer at all. We are regulars at the fishbone in Aurora and we have never had any complaints. It is a shame, because it is actually a nice spot being ruined by poor customer service and mediocre food. We will not be going back soon.
Absolutely delicious food, lovely location and wonderful to sit outside and overlook the Lake. We came on a ridiculously hot night and the breeze off the water made it lovely! Can't wait to come back!
Great as always
The experience was great. We had the cold crab appetizer, which we would not have again. Main course we had tuna and haddock, which were excellent.
We were pleasantly surprised that the whole restaurant was outside. The wait staff were accommodating and took the time to ensure we were happy with our table (it was a very hot day). They were very friendly which made the experience even better . The food was delicious ! We will return again to also enjoy the sunset experience.
This was our first visit this year to Fishbone by the Lake, but not our last. It's always great to dine by the water and the menu has enough variety to please everyone. The staff is always friendly, courteous and efficient. This is a busy place, especially on weekends so best to make a reservation.
Fishbone never disappoints. We had the tacos, oysters, and a squid dish. All were incredible!
Great place to enjoy the company of good friends while sharing some excellent food offerings. Only critcism was limited selection of Scotch. Suggest you eliminate Johnnie Walker Red and replace with Johnnie Walker Black at a minimum. Otherwise the young owners are to be congratulated for developing this real social oasis in the Stouffville area
