   We went to flame and smith to celebrate a special event this past Sunday. The food was pretty good but our waitress was incredibly rude which made the experience quite unpleasant. We asked her what she would recommend from the menu, and she seemingly got offended by the question. She told us “nothing is on the menu that doesn’t deserve to be there”. We were just trying to get an idea of what to order as it was our first time.

   This was our second time dining here, once in the summer -- which is a great experience on the patio. And last night in the dining room. Food was very good, definitely good value for $$$ -- did NOT leave hungry.. great staff -- all very attentive without intrusion.. well worth it .. but definitely book a reservation .. and this is a great app.

   Such a great experience. The food was amazing. Best shrimp cocktail I think I have ever had. Server was great as well! I would definitely try the chef’s selection next time we are here! Food is on the pricier side but worth every penny!!

   Once again, our evening out was punctuated by brilliance in food prep, excellence in service and exquisite comfort in ambiance. Our hosts alway out-perform and the staff is as warm as your best table-mate. Never too attentive as to disturb, always there when needed and perhaps more so when wanted. Casual elegance, inviting solitude, a welcoming familiarity that disarms and charms. Best of the best.

    The best was to describe Flame & Smith is a dining experience. Charming and tastfully decorated to suit the cuisine. We attended 5o get better acquainted with some friends over a nice meal and this became an evening of excellence. The service was outstanding as the guided us through our courses of some of the finest foods and helped pair a well suited wine with our meal. We were able to have great conversation as we slowly savored each dish. A great destination restaurant in Ontario

    Once again the folks at F&S knocked it out of the park. I had my friends and business parters in for a promotion celebration and years of service recognition. I reached out to F&S the day before to arrange drop off of some cupcakes and have a fantastic bottle of champaign set up for our arrival. Staff were 100% motivated to help and make sure things went off without a hitch, The service, food, cocktails and overall atmosphere was fantastic. Nothing compares to walking into F&S and getting that first whiff of meat and wood smoke.

    A great night. A bit expensive fir skirt steak and French fries but the steak was cooked perfectly. The wine I had was good. Didn’t really pair. And my guests margarita was just ok. But the service, ambience, steak and appetizer were great. I did bring a guest fir her birthday and was surprised that nothing was done to really acknowledge it. The year before we were treated with a lovely dessert. So I guess that knocks the experience down a few notches.

    We ordered the 4-course chef menu for two people which included snack+appetizer +main+dessert for two. It turned out to be 2 snacks, 3 apps, ONE main plus a side and ONE dessert to share. We didn’t know when we ordered and if we had ordered the same items individually, the price would have been at least $20 less. When we asked if we would get another dessert, the woman who brought us the dessert brushed us off saying there is no 2nd dessert “because one is already very filling.” The overpricing and the terrible response ruined our whole experience.

    Service by the host & server were very good. Seated at our reservation time and all staff members were very friendly. Restaurant was very busy for a mid February Saturday night. The noise level was very high with the many conversations going on & the music in the restaurant. This made it very difficult to have a conversation with your dining partner. The restaurant is not very intimate as the tables are all out in the open (no booths etc.) Our server (Alison) was attentive and polite and certainly knew her job. The food was a mixture of good & not so much. The sourdough bread was great. The oysters were great. The beet salad was basic. 3 different colours of beets on a goat cheese sauce that was just so-so. Ceviche was basically tasteless & needed some seasoning. Piri-Piri Chicken was moist & tender but unless you had a bite with the sauce, it was basically bland. With the sauce it was very good so this one is a bit of a toss-up. The biggest disappointment was the steak frites. A skirt steak that was cooked to a perfect medium rare but was tough & chewy. The sauce on the steak was very salty making it difficult to have too much of it. The biggest letdown was the fries. Very very salty. There was so much salt on the fries it looked like they had a salt crust on them. After mentioning this to the server she was very apologetic & did reduce our bill but that didn't really change the fact that for the price range of this restaurant I think they could have done much better. If not for the professionalism of the server this would have been a much more disappointing evening.

    We were there for my mom’s 82nd birthday. My parents have never been there before and the waitress was very patient with my mom, as my mom has hearing difficulties. The food was delicious. And for my moms dessert they put a candle in it and we sang her happy birthday. It was a great experience for my parents and of course we enjoyed ourselves.

    Incredible food, stellar service. From the starters to the drinks, mains, deserts and coffee, everything is carefully chosen and prepared. I always leave full and happy. Well worth the drive and the price. This is my second time here in 6 ish months and there were already new, exciting items on the menu. Flame and Smith always sets the bar higher than anyone in their general radius. Try a tasting menu when they offer them! You won’t be disappointed.

    Very attentive good service from Tess, our waitress. The tomahawk steak was outstanding, very well recommended red wine from the sommelier and very tasty “decorative” dessert. It was easy or 5th or 6th time at this restaurant

    We love this place. The staff are the best asset overall. The space is appealing and welcoming. The food is great. My only wish would be for a small tender steak option. The skirt steak is too chewy and harder to digest for older people and your big steaks are just toooo big. The oysters are perfection. See you again soon.

    Friendly and warm while utterly competent and professional. The food was superlative - attention to the smallest detail was apparent. Super-fresh oysters with delicious house-made accompaniments. Line-caught tuna ceviche, roasted mushroom salad, grilled whole fish and steak frites … all perfect. Extensive selections of wines under $100/btl. Service impeccably timed. Highly recommended.
