Flanagan's Steakhouse pays patronage to James Flanagan who built the Flanagan Hotel (later renamed the Senator, after a Senator from Ottawa who stayed at the hotel frequently). Classic intimate, casual upscale dining at its finest. See you soon!
One of our favorites when it comes to having a nice evening out with a great dining experience. Our waiter was top notch and they make the best Caesar salad in Toon right there in front of you! Our meal was fantastic. So good I am booking again before Christmas.
A fantastic place for a quiet dinner. Great ambience.
Wonderful meal in an intimate setting. We were celebrating an anniversary and received top notch service. The waitress was friendly, was able to answer all our questions about meals and wine. She was attentive without being overbearing.
The food was out of this world. We had steak and lobster and both were lavishly prepared. We would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.
Had a lovely experience at Flanagan’s steak house.
The food was strictly average. The service was great though.
Great ambiance in the dining room
Food service and value excellent
But first you have to get through the panhandlers and pub bar flys
To bad the hotel can't control the goings on outside on the street
It could easily be a real five star place
Great atmosphere. Not busy so very quiet. Wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and very personable. Would definitely recommend.
The tableside cooking for my Steak Dianne was great. My boyfriends streak was over done but they dealt with it very well. Meal size was good. Very friendly and helpful service.
Loved this restaurant. Everything from the food to the service and ambiance were perfect
I really like the environment in the Flanagan's Steakhouse. The decorations in the place are very decent. The waitress was friendly. The food was good, and I especially liked the mango sorbet and the tenderloin. The lamb leg that I stole from my friend was very tasty too. I would recommend this place to people around me.
Service was great and so was the food, found it just shy on the effort for a fine dining experience. Salad, potatoes, and veggies is too typical. Some more unique offerings would make the difference for this establishment. The ambiance is very unique. And that's what makes it worthwhile.
Great place to celebrate our families special moment.
Service and food were exceptional.
It was great
I love the atmosphere in this restaurant. It is beautiful and historic. Our waitress was friendly and funny. We enjoyed meeting her.
My husband ordered the chicken and it was tasty. I ordered the steak, which I was a bit disappointed in. I ordered medium; it was quite a bit too rare. It was a generous portion and tender, but I was not terribly pleased with the taste of it. However, it did not destroy my enjoyment of the evening. Everything else was good.
We will be back again!
The food was amazing.
We chose this restaurant for our anniversary because we knew it would be quiet and we would be able to hear ourselves. The poor waitress was thrown in from the pub next door and while she was very accommodating, she did not look the part in her casual clothes and pocket apron tied around her waist. She had to return to ask how my husband wanted his steak done and again which starch choice we wanted. We had to flag her down to ask for a necessary steak knife after our main plates were delivered. Our Caesar salad had to be prepared in the kitchen rather than tableside as indicated in the menu because of the lack of trained staff. The waitress was very attentive, but just lacked experience in that role. The food was generally very good. My only small point was the gravy on my stuffed chicken was too salty and appeared beefy rather than chicken. The vegs were superb as was the salad, the stuffed baked potato, and the cheesecake. My husbands steak was perfect. I regret that there are few, if any, fine dining venues in Saskatoon for other than loud, rowdy times. Many of us older persons have difficulty hearing in loud places.
My wife & I had an excellent meal on my birthday. We first started with stuffed mushrooms for our appetizer. They were an excellent choice & were delicious. I had the tenderloin steak & stuffed potato & my wife had the chicken & wild rice for our main meal. These two items did not disappoint. We were very impressed with the food & have never been disappointed with the food anytime we have eaten at this restaurant. The turtle cheesecake was very good & enjoyed by both of us. The entire meal was excellently done to perfection.
This charming room deserves better. Although it advertises table- side preparation of some menu items, our waiter had to call in the manager to make our salad. The prep table and salad bowl were not at all attractive, far too much vinegar was used. Our steaks came to the table as ordered and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. There were no other diners in the room.
The wine list; however, is a very good one. My advice - have a great glass of wine in the hotel wine bar and move on to one of Saskatoon's excellent new restaurants within easy walking distance.
In general food was good but not great. Service was very slow even though there were virtually no other people in the restaurant. Old dated feel.
Enjoyed the whole experience of great service & food & our visit with the chief while he was cooking my Steak Diane at the table. The food was excellent!! The dining area is very beautiful with the fansy wood work on the walls & statues at the entrance. The meal was reasonably priced with wine from $40 and up. Definitely we are planning to go back.
Great place!! Loved the food! Loved the service would definitely recommend this place!!!!
If it wasn't for the wine list it would be one star. Mains were ok...nothing to rave about. Appetizers were terrible (other than the bison carpaccio). The calamari, shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops were all from some store pre frozen...brutal. Service was not great. Our server didn't know if she had a decanter. Didn't know how to open a bottle of wine with an old cork...given the wine list I was really surprised. Definitely won't be going back. We were a party of 5 and only 2 other people were in the whole restaurant the time we were there. Too bad as this could be a really cool place
Food was great. Waitress was professional and very attentive. Was aware of how to interact with us only after a few quips. Played along and we had fun. Thank you
On the night we went, there was a lady in the bar that lost her mind. Spilling drinks and punching 10 year olds. It was like entering the basement of fight club. I would love to leave a review of our lovely experience. But the first rule Flanagans Steak House, is not to talk about Flanagans Steak House!
The meal was exceptional. Great food and drink. Very nice venue. Staff very friendly.
Fantastic atmosphere, old time motief. The service was great, chef came to see how everything was too. Price was good for a steak house.
Service was great. Tony is very experienced. Steak diane should be made with filet not new york strip.
The entire experience surpassed expectations. The food was excellent, and the service was outstanding. A special thanks to our server Tony, who made the meal particularly enjoyable!
We weren't greeted in a friendly manner, and were left just standing there waiting for someone to notice us and seat us. Finally the chef ordered us to go sit in a room. The waiter was very friendly and provided good service, however I only found the food to be average. My steak diane was't tender, and another's was over cooked, but he didn't say anything. We were in a private room as there were 6 of us, so I have no idea what the rest of the restaurant looked like, and what the ambience was. Desert, meh, less than average.
A great place To bad people woukd rather yell to be heard at the Keg then go here. Prices are in line if not better. Better wine list, professional seasoned waiters. Overall ecperience was first rate.
We went for Valentine's day supper. If I had to sum it up it would be 'meh'. The scallops were over cooked, the steak was a medium well rather than medium rare and the dessert was a big soupy mess. Nothing was horrible, it was just disappointing. Not sure if I would try it again.
The lamb was fine, but it seemed to be missing some flavor. The fresh vegetables were really good though as well as the desert.
Our group enjoyed the excellent food, outstanding service and the ability to visit without noise being a factor .... just soft background music playing. Great experience!!
Food was good but nothing of real note. Oddly for a steak house they only have four steaks. The wild rice needs a little help, Flanagan's, in case you are reading this. Desert was ordinary. We also felt a bit rushed, perhaps because they were not at all busy. I did not quite finish my appetizer as the entrees were coming out and our bill came before we had a chance to order coffees or after dinner drinks. The room is very attractive and the wait staff attentive.
While the rabbit was a little overdone and chewy, the other meal was excellent. The service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to friends.
Fantastic food! Classics with a twist and unique local flavours. Wonderful ambiance and attentive servers. Will definitely be back!!!
Waited 10 mins to be acknowledged at entrance, no one around. Menus passed around, was not asked about bar drinks even after water was poured. Appetizers were frozen or bland, main course was so so. There were other choices of restaurants but we selected this for a special evening with family. The desserts were also bland and mostly tasteless. We will not return here but Saskatoon does need a good steakhouse, this is not it.
Flanagan's Steak House is Fine Dining, emphasis on 'Fine'. The setting and decor within the historic Senator Hotel is elegant and tasteful. The service was classy and friendly. The food was very good.
We went for our Family Christmas supper and it was fantastic! It’s a very beautiful restaurant that looks like you’re stepping into a royal palace. We got the appetizer platter with Mozzarella Sticks, Bacon Wrapped Scallops, Calamari, and Stuffed Mushroom Caps and never have I had an platter where everything on the menu tastes delicious! I ordered the Rack of Lamb which was very tender, I wasn’t a fan of the blackberry sauce ( I thought it was a bit sour for my taste) my parents got the steak and lobster and they really liked it! For dessert we ordered a turtle cheesecake and a Carmel cremate which was great! The staff was nice and friendly and our waiter was very knowledgeable about everything! He made the best Old fashioned that I’ve ever had! I would highly recommend going and I’m sure we will go again!
Menu is dated, not a lot of attention to detail shown in food preparation.
Nice setting and atmosphere for a meal & visit.
