While our menu will change over with each passing season, we also continue to source the freshest ingredients from local farms to help inspire daily specials. Our goal is to give you the best tasting dishes, the easiest way to do that is to start with what’s in season.
Nose to Tail, Root to Leaf
We believe every part of the plant and animal can and should be used in the process making food. Whether it’s used as a component in making stocks/sauces, as the main ingredient of the dish, or as a garnish, our goal is to use 100% of the entire plant/animal we purchase. The goal is less waste and responsible consumerism.
Return to Cooking
With our wood fired oven and wood fired grill we are returning to the origins of cooking: cooking over fire. Here at Foster, we combine fresh ingredients, classic technique, and an open flame to serve you a meal that’s simply elegant.

The food is amazing! One of our favorite places to eat after moving from Brooklyn. We’ve found Fosters to be what we would seek out in the city. You can tell the ingredients are well thought out and fresh.

For those living in the Sea Cliff/Glen Cove/Glen Head area, there are very few restaurants with patient and informed staff, great ambiance, and a thoughtful menu, but Foster is now one of them. There is also a remarkable level of detail that has gone into this establishment, down to the monogrammed plates, chef’s counter, and seasonal menus, which communicates that they want to deliver a truly unique experience. I will be retuning and would recommend Foster to anyone who appreciates any or all of the qualities of a great restaurant.

Went with a few friends and the atmosphere was classy and had a good energy. The staff was friendly and we had a great waiter. We ordered a few appetizers to start.. the grilled octopus, shishito peppers, meatballs and the watermelon with feta, mint and honey drizzle salad. There was not a single thing I tried that wasn’t delicious!! Had the bacon and caramelized onions pizza (again) because it was so delicious the first time I went there. And we all tried each others dinners. WOW. I’ve never been to a restaurant where everything I tried blew me away. They even made a pineapple mocktail for my friend and I tried it and ordered one also. You MUST come here. You won’t be disappointed.

We were excited to visit Foster restaurant, being in the same location as a much beloved legend, Tupelo Honey, with exquisite blue tiles and comfortable surroundings. Thrilled even more so, because Foster is again, a laidback, lovely place in a sweet residential part of historic Sea Cliff. We were greeted by a handsome, intelligent low-key Sea Cliff native who seemed to have details on every dish we asked. Hard finding such a waitperson these days. We fully enjoyed our shared refreshing heirloom tomato with watermelon, mint and parslane salad. Along with a wonderful Chardonnay I couldn’t finish, we each had the non-oily southern fried chicken with honey plated with mashed potatoes and just-cooked spinach. Just the right choice for a Sunday dinner on their wide flower-box porch. It felt like a vacation in Sea Cliff. A return place, as it always had been. Foster also offers late night dinners and a beautiful wood curved bar and warm interior I can imagine settling into in Fall/autumn.

We sat outside on the front patio and it was lovely. The food was great as was the service. I was a little surprised that we were charged $28 for a cake cutting fee when we had brought cupcakes to celebrate my daughter’s birthday (which did not need cutting!).

Nice restaurant with good food and ambiance. A little over priced, particularly on the wine. Service was generally good, but the waiter spilled a large amount of ice water all over one of the members of our party. He was apologetic, but it would have been a classy move if the restaurant offered up a free dessert or some other measure to try to make amends.

Food was average. Not enough seasoning, IMO We had fried chicken and lamb chops. Both were cooked well, but under seasoned. Pea puree with lamb chops was cold. Martinis were good. Gnudis (naked ravioli) were good for appetizer. Bananas Foster for dessert was good, but sauce wasn't thick enough. Waitress was a bit slow, so ice cream was melted by the time dessert arrived. We felt service was slow. Overall, good, not great and of course expensive for the amount of food...just like every restaurant recently.

Had their takeout in the past, but this was our first time sitting down. Terrific meal from start to finish. Waitress was great, service very attentive, and owner came to our table and checked in twice. Meatball appetizer was great. Fried chicken, burger, and pork chop special was terrific. Half priced wine on Weds! This will be our new go-to place when people visit or just for a nice night out. Staff was terrific accommodating our soon to be 4 year old. Will be back soon.

we’ve been for dinner but this was our first time for brunch and it was so great! they have limited staff during brunch but everyone there is wonderful and very accommodating. the food is incredible. we will definitely be back.

We love Foster and keep going back. Tried the Octopus and the Curry Lamb Ragu Pasta for the first time and both are now my new favorite dishes. In fact, it was hard to decide what to order, because EVERYTHING called out to me. We love this place and will be back again very soon. Thank you!!!

They need new bartenders. The service was terrible, took forever to get drinks, as well as the follow up bottle of wine. The waiter came well into our first course to tell one of us they had run out of the fried chicken so he ordered a burger which arrived after our entrees did. Not clear if they were short a waiter or not but the service the whole evening was poor. However, the food was delicious ! Salads were ok but the starters we tried were great: broiled oysters with miso, and. grilled calamari. Salmon also good. We will give it another try for sure and hope they improve with their waitstaff by then!

I went to Foster last night with some friends, and it was a wonderful experience! The staff were extremely attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is lovely… it is very well designed and is a great place for a date or get together with friends! The food was mostly amazing… although I was not a massive fan of the fingerling potato side dish. My pork chop was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It had a cherry compote on top which really complimented the pork and made the dish something I would go back there to eat many times! They have a very creative cocktail menu, and the drinks were really delicious as well. The prices are definitely on the higher end, but the food and service made it worth it!

Great wine list, saki list, great staff. We had the charred broccolini Caesar and the burrata and bok choy to start! I would eat the broccolini Caesar every day if I could! For entrees we had the pork chop (the apricot is an amazing compliment) which was cooked perfectly, and the lamb chops which were tender and flavorful. Sides were mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms, both amazing! We saw someone order the strawberry bread pudding which looked delicious and it definitely was! Will go back often. If you’re looking for a quieter atmosphere, this place on a Saturday evening is not going to be your spot! It was a little loud but still an intimate setting. 10/10!

Not only was the service terrible, the food was salty, overcooked and not edible. Our drinks took way too long to arrive, we specifically told our waiter we were ordering a bunch of apps for dinner and he brought them all out at once instead of coursing them out. There wasn’t even room on our table to hold all the dishes and their response was, we can reheat it for you when you are ready. The host went around to every other table around us asking them how their meals were and skipped over ours. In addition to being one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, they weren’t very hospitable.
