Fourteen Restaurant & Sky Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Excellent service. Only real issue we had was that I booked our reservation on OpenTable exactly a week ahead. Then almost 2 hours later, I got an email saying that the restaurant canceled our reservation. I called right away and spoke to a kind woman saying that she's still able to view our reservation so I was relieved. BUT when we showed up for dinner, the hostess told us that it still showed as being cancelled. She kind of made me feel like it was a bit of a hassle to accommodate us, even after I explained what happened...but the restaurant had WAY more than enough room to accommodate our small party. Luckily our server made up for it. She was super nice and service was quick.
reservation made months in advance with request for riverside view - table reserved was not the view side nor was it in the restaurant/put us in the lounge
when I persisted to get a view/they never made the table up, no table cloth, salt/pepper etc..
service was spent in dining area, not lounge
food was over priced, cold and I wasn't impressed with the whole experience
Great first date location
The menu is unique and rotates with the season, the service wasn't as great as we anticipated/ expected, many people bringing out food and don't know who ordered what. Enjoyable evening with a beautiful view but on the expensive side.
Amazing Location, and views. Dinner was great, service was amazing .
The view was great. The food was amazing. And the staff was helpful and entertaining. We left just as the live music was starting, but it was a beautiful addition to the night! Overall, great restaurant.
We were sat in the middle of the restaurant limiting our view. We were hoping for better because that is feature of going to a building top restaurant - the views.
The bartender while I am sure a nice fellow was chatting up 3 ladies - we were seated at almost the furthest table from the bar and felt like we were in his conversation he was so loud - this was well before the band started. Our meal took quite a while to arrive. Others seated after us received their food before us.
Great ambiance & view, took my boyfriend here for a special date night. He loved it. Will definitely be back.
Had a some service hiccups at dinner, but owner personally reached out to make it right. Great food, try the duck or beef wellington!
Our reservation was for 730, and we ate at 10 PM. That says a lot.
The food and service was really good. The view, especially in the evening, was very pretty. The space itself, along with the ambiance, was very typical. It's "nice" and clean but very commercial, no soul.
Loved our meal - prepared perfectly. Service was excellent. And you simply can’t beat the view! We went before sunset and enjoyed the transition from daylight to the city lights of the Detroit skyline. Highly recommend for a special occasion.
Steak was over cooked and had a weird sauce that tasted like flowers, lobster was way over cooked, and they don’t recork so if you buy a bottle of wine be prepaid to finish it or waste your money. Service was good until the end of our meal after dessert we waited a good 30mins before our server came back. We thought she forgot about us. Was expecting more for what we paid
I was a little iffy about trying this place because I had heard mixed reviews about the food not being the greatest or the portions being too small. I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty everything was! Mind you, my friend and I only ordered apps but nonetheless they were delicious. I highly recommend the mussels - some of the best I've ever had! Also ordered the smoked duck and mushroom flatbread, which were also good. I had a caesar to drink and my friend had the rosee moscato, which were both very tasty as well. The menu is very reasonably priced. My server was very friendly, the view was lovely and the atmosphere was very nice too. Overall very satisfied with my visit there, I would definitely go back.
Food was amazing, server was fantastic, and the view was perfect. All around good experience! Perfect way to spend dinner.
We were a little late & called ahead...upon arrival we still had to wait & our table was not ready...was not too stressful.
The service was really good..the wait time was not long & the food was delicious...ohhh the view was awesome.
The experience was great...highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was amazing! Service was great! View was awesome! Live music was incredible! It's definitely in my top 5 restaurants now, and I can't wait to go back to try something else on the menu.
The view and ambience are fantastic. The service was timely and courteous. The food was unfortunately a bit under seasoned. Everyone needed to add salt to their dinner. If you are a person who likes very lightly seasoned food, it would be a 5 star experience.
The food was wonderful and our waitress very good, despite it only being her 2nd day. Obviously, the view was great and I think that's the case from almost all tables so no need to worry about not being at a window tables.
I was a bit concerned when we were seated next to the party room because there was a large birthday group in there... However, while still a bit noisy, the fact that it was enclosed helped a lot.
I also enjoyed the fact that the Manager/Owner stopped by to see how we were enjoying things; always a nice touch!
The view is great, i wish there was more romantic lighting. I wish there were candles on the tables. When its dark, the bright pot lights are harsh. The food and server were wonderfull. We had a great meal.
The food was great and of course the view is unbelievable. Unfortunately my husband was not feeling well so he could not enjoy his meal. The one thing that was different is that I had ordered the serf and turf. I could have either beef or duck as my turf and the lobster.
Once I received my meal I knew that instead of the duck that I wanted I had been given the beef. Took a couple of bites and knew for sure. All wrong texture for duck and my husband who retired as a meat manager after forty five years said that it was beef. We were told no that it was duck. They would prepare something else for me but I told them the lobster was fine and they only charged me for half the meal which I thought was good of them.
One thing to try is the lobster and escargot. Soooo good.
They didn't have my open table reservation so made us wait for a table to open up. Then had to ask twice to get a server.
My review is not so much about the restaurant itself, or the food. It is, however, about the service.
My boyfriend and I had planned a nice evening together and we were really looking forward to our first dinner at your restaurant. I booked a table online through this website and received confirmation. Later in the day (2 hours before time booked) I called to say we were running about 10 minutes behind and wanted to make sure that was okay. The lady I spoke with was surprised I was calling because they had not received a reservation under my name. After explaining exactly when I booked it, she proceeded to say there was no booking for me. No apology, just that there was no booking. Despite what happened, I asked her if they had a table for two around 645. She said they did, but not until 715, so we took it. When we arrived the waitress escorted us to the bar to sit because there were no tables available for us. It was 730 when my boyfriend asked how the seating works, and the bartender said it's first come, first serve. There were at least 5 empty tables where we were sitting, if not more. We laughed, thanked the bartender, and left. Called Take Five Bistro on the way out and made our way over there for dinner, where we had an amazing night.
Suffice it to say, we will not be back to Fourteen, but we will be passing the word along to others. For such a classy, up-scale restaurant, the service really stinks.
What's the point of having an online booking system for reservations if it's not going to work? And if it doesn't work, your restaurant should at least honour a booking and confirmation number.
the occasion was a birthday... but there was no mention of this by the server, although an e-mail had been sent - a son's anniversary previously, was a different response
the dishes were not removed in a timely manner - a note to Fourteen was a followup
moving dirty dishes around the table is not a good thing
Immediately we were greeted at the elevator door by the hostess and led to our table immediately. Great view of the Detroit skyline, food was great and service was impeccable. The server was amazing she ensured everything was topped up as needed and was very attentive to our needs. I'm sad to say I forgot our servers name. If the owners are reading this it's the young lady with the purple hair she was amazing. Food and drink was worth every penny we paid. We will definitely go again definitely recommend.
Amazing views of gorgeous Detroit...service was fantastic...food amazing!
Very nice restaurant. My steak was average. My wife had salmon and it was excellent
Fantastic food, great service, nice ambiance...can't wait to go back.
I put in 6 loonies for parking and the gate didn't even open. Service was ok and the restaurant doesn't look as nice as it is in pictures. It's kind of worn down already. I was expecting the fervor to be fancier. The food was just ok...best part of the dinner was the view.
Definitely needs work on the wine list. Not much option by the glass.
Menu is very odd, servers for being what seems upscale have no idea how to serve
The view is amazing. But the food didn't live up to the view. It was okay, but not amazing or unique. It was also pretty salty. But the thing that made us decide not to go back was the ambiance. The room was very noisy and there were some live musicians who were competing with the noise rather than supplementing the vibe. It didn't feel comfortable and it was really hard to talk. The space suggests a kind of intimacy but the noise and activity around the tables doesn't support intimacy. So, for the money, there are better places locally that are warmer and more welcoming with better and more interesting food.
Apps and drinks were amazing, as well as, the waiter and the view!! Lobster ravioli was very good but the steak ( with surf and turf) wasn't the best. Overall, great feel in the bar and we'd go back !
Excellent experience, will definitely return soon!!!
Took my wife out for a nice night out and Fourteen was an absolutely amazing way to start the evening. The food was incredible and the service was awesome. Love that the desserts are different every time.
Great location to celebrate a special evening or occasion. The presentation of the food was wonderful along with the incredible fresh taste. all four in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
We were out to celebrate my mom birthday. The food was very good, drinks were tasty, we had a beautiful view of the river and we had a great server. I would recommend people to try it out 😆
The view and food are great. The food is a little pricey but is worth it for the taste and ingredients used. Overall a great dining experience.
Poor service, food was nothing special, lacked taste and presentation. View is fabulous. We booked on open table and basically we're thrown into the bar area and not even considered for the cloth table dining area. Won't return sorry, not worth it.
Great service food and atmosphere. Loved the live music, added to the whole dining experience!
The tuna was delicious.......was told the surf and turf hit the spot also......enjoyed our server and the view from the restaurant was wonderful.......
