   We booked a reservation here since we’ve loved the food in the past but didn’t realize the entire menu was changed. Wasn’t the food/style we enjoyed from our past experiences. “Large Plates” were single serving sizes and the prices were a little steep for them. We miss the old menu!

   Great food in terms of quality with interesting takes on classic dishes. Service was a bit slow but they did get slammed with brunch orders at the same time, which is understandable. Great atmosphere! Can't wait to go back to sample the many, many beers they keep on tap.

   Great beer and great food. The chef seemed quite inflexible though. We wanted to try the fried chicken with the Buffalo sauce on the side (for dipping), but apparently that’s impossible.

   We love the Free House. All of the beers are local and consistently change. The service is always friendly and efficient. The Royale With Cheese on the Happy Hour Menu is a fantastic burger.

   We’ve gone here a numbers of times. The menu seems to have taken a turn. The carrots and anchovies were experimental but not a good choice. The ugly dumplings were very bland, doughy and heavy. The German potato salad was really good. The service was not great. We had to flag down a server each time we wanted something. I appreciate that they are trying to bring a gastro-pub experience which is why we’ve liked it in the past. Some tweaks to the menu and it’ll be back on track

    This was my first time at FREE HOUSE. The brunch was terrific; very flavourful and the portions were huge. We attended the ‘Funky Brunch’. I would consider this a great opportunity for those who have never experienced a drag show - it was energetic, yet tame enough to be suitable for all ages. They take tips so remember to bring $5 bills, if you are so inclined :) The music was really loud before the show, and it was hard to have a conversation, but I don’t know if it’s like that all the time or not - or if we were under a speaker. All in all I give this place 5 stars for brunch and the unique experience for taking a first-timer to see drag.

    We had a great time at Freehouse and we will be back. Our only criticism would be to use less salt on/in the flatbread crust, as it completely overwhelmed all of us, especially on the outer edges. The flatbreads themselves were awesome, as were the steak sandwiches, burgers and spicy garlic shrimp.

    Chris, our server, as always was excellent, the food is so amazing, and their tasting room is the most perfect place for our networking meeting to happen twice a month. Very happy that Freehouse is our meeting place!

    We always love a night out at Freehouse. The menu is unique with lots of shareable plates. Their beer menu is always changing which makes each experience dining out a little different! Their team is knowledgeable about the craft beer scene in AB and always has a great recommendation to share.

    Been to Free house a few times. Sat at the bar, roof deck and tables. The food is good, but also slightly different every time we order. Consistency seems to be an issue. They have some good specials and a decent happy hour. The bar service has always been a little disappointing though. They can’t seem to get enough staff and if you go on a busy Friday/Saturday night be prepared to wait 20mins for a drink. I’d say personally I wish they would update and add some new cocktails though. The current menu is a little lack lustre. It can get super loud in there, difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting in front of you when it’s busy. This place has a ton of potential. But definitely needs some front of house and back of house tweaking.

    We arrived T 6:30, they were sold out of several items on the menu including pizza dough, so no pizza’s available at all. They were also sold out of several beers. The place was so noisy we had to yell at each other across the table as there was a very large party going on using up half the main floor. Would not recommend.

    Long wait to be seated due to short staff. Took ages to place an order as the available staff were too busy at host stand seating people, and created long waits between when a server would come by the table. You guys need to hire or close off sections as it made for a poor dining experience and I’m sure a poor serving experience for the staff.

    Met with a girlfriend for a patio experience and weren't disappointed. Amazing food (those potato skins were to die for.) Fantastic service. Excellent menu, and I was happy to hear they'd removed a couple of items due to very distasteful and public posts from Valbella meats.They were sourcing new suppliers at that time.     Great rooftop patio and beer selection. Happy hour options are a great way to save some $$ as they have $5 draft, $10 sandwiches and $15 flatbread that is large enough for 2+ ppl.

    Sat on the outdoor patio on Stampede parade Friday. I love Freehouse - it's a great local with a great selection of beers and good food. However, this was not one of its stellar days, as it faced staffing challenges common to many restaurants and service providers. Still, they did the best job they could and staff were literally running in and out of the restaurant to serve as they tried to serve folks. Service was slow and we ended up cancelling a second round of drinks as a consequence, after waiting some time for them. I will be back because it is a fabourite, but need to adjust my expectations to align with staffing issues.

    Not sure what happened but it wasn't your day, Free House. Burnt food, forgot one order, half the people at our table got their orders while the others waited for 15 minutes for theirs... Then I was reminded in a weird way to leave a tip... Are you guys okay?
