Love the neighborhood place, the servers, the arugula salad with grapefruit, chevre, pear and slivered almonds... AND I got my burger and fries done to perfection, just the way I like. The creme brulee is top notch too.

I eat here at least once every couple of weeks and yesterday service was really bad. Took 20 minutes upon seating just to get coffee for one. Wine and cappuccino for others in Party took another 15 minutes. And then long wait for meal . Looked like there were not enough servers

Not family friendly — tight space for high chairs and no place for small folded up strollers
French Roast UptownResponded on March 20, 2023To say we are not family friendly is a little bit misleading. Yes we are a small restaurant and we do not have a coat check room to store strollers, scooters and the various other articles that New York Families carry about on their day. But we certainly offer high chairs, boosters, a children's menu all hours of the day, coloring pages and crayons. Brunches especially are particularly packed and while it may seem we are not " child friendly " we are in fact just full with no storage space.

Valentine’s Day at French roast felt special. When we arrived they were running late for our reservation so they gave us complimentary drinks at the bar. When we were seated I got the prix fixe menu and my husband got an entree. We shared dessert. There was a good amount of food, and all was delicious. They really know how to do Cale tines day well!

One of our ‘go-to’ places in the neighborhood! It’s always reliable for a good meal. The restaurant week menu had some great choices. We enjoyed the lobster ravioli starter, salmon entree and the lava cake dessert was one of the best we’ve ever had! And the burger and fries is always a great choice. The servers are all very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed our visit.

Went fir restaurant week dinner, calamari melted in your mouth, profiteroles were awesome, my friend had the french onion soup which he thought was delicious and the cheesecake for dessert, we both had grilled lamb loin since it is something we do not usually eat, just enough food and well prepared, going back again.

It was a birthday brunch and we all had such a lovely time. The food was delicious!! The team there even sang happy birthday when we got desserts. Everyone was so friendly and the whole experience was excellent. I can’t wait to go back. They really made it special.

Very good service but really poor food. The cassoulet was truly a mess and tasted like it had been cooked weeks ago and left in the oven for several days. Yuck. And the tarte Tartin was still a bit frozen. Never again for us.

I love French Roast and the food service and location are excellent. On the latest oc casion it was completely full and very noisy, but that is not always the dase. It is wonderful to have French Roast in our neighborhood.
