Fantastic start to finish! Great pacing, knowledgeable server. Delicious and complex cocktails that paired perfectly with the creative, exquisitely prepared food. Not pretentious in the least. Yum!
Delicious food all around. The mussel toast and the NY strip were outstanding, as was the smoked herring spaghetti and the gnocchi. The drinks were tasty as well. Overall, a great experience.
Server was great. Food was great. Prices reasonable. Front desk was horrible. I called to say we would be 15 minutes late for a 7pm reservation. I was told that was fine but that our table was booked for another party at 9:15, insinuating that we'd need to be out by then. A bit rude. As it turned out we were there a little early, but one of us was still parking the car. We were told that we wouldn't be seated until he came from parking the car and would need to wait in the bar, which had no seats available. So we stood waiting for him for 15 minutes. As it was, we finished up and were out by 9:20, came down the stairs and the other party was waiting near the door. We were rather impatiently hurried out the door so they could go up the stairs and enter the dining room. It's a small space, but they need friendlier help at the front desk.
What a fantastic place!nice quier neighborhood townhouse.
Packed downstairs bar..cozy upstairs dining.
Very eclectic menu..excellent from start to finish (Michelin quality and service w/o the price.
We had the oysters (wonderful and fresh)
NOT to be missed is the mussels toast with scallop botarfa( not sure if there is such a thing but tasty as was the fried sweebreads in toast with bone marrow
2 unique pasta—smoked herring spaghetti was excellent as was the savory one with morcillas and crispy pork skin! ..better than Babbo/Osteria Mrini/Marra/Bottega?..
The dessert parfait and peach upside down cake made it a home run...the lebanese red and spanish white wine rounded it out...will be back with fellow eaters!
Absolutely a must for anyone who truly enjoys and appreciates quality food and creative quisine. We dine all over the city and keep on coming back to this little gem.
Immaculate service. Food was excellent start to finish. Highlights included the squash, eggs with duxelles and caviar, grilled corn, beet pyramids (pasta), and the indulgent brownie dessert.
Friends liked their food very much. The menu has some unusual item on it. I thought the octopus was very tough, especially compared to other restaurants where it is very tender. The server was over-enthusiastic and dramatic, continually interrupting our conversation with questions and whatnot. The place itself is attractive, and the noise level was ok. I might go there again if friends want to go for small plates but I am not enthusiastic.
Really great service and simple food done well
Excellent overall. Our out-of-town friends were dazzled!
Delicious food and phenomenal service!
We went there a second time in 3 days ... just to check if the food would be just as sensationally good the second time, and it was. A true GEM! Everything is not perfect but the total experience is !
My husband and I had a 5:45 reservation and were seated immediately. I wanted a virgin Bloody Mary but for some reason they don’t serve them. Our server said he would fix me something I might like and if I didn’t, no charge. He came back with a delicious drink. I have no idea what Was in it, but it was great! We shared an heirloom tomato appetizer. It was great, so fresh and a little different. I ordered their roasted chicken which was maybe the best chicken I’ve ever had. So tender and moist! Crispy skin. My husband had the halibut which was incredible… Of course I had to taste it! We also ordered a side dish of collard greens with a poached egg on top in a broth. It was served with some toasted bread to dip. Very unique dish with an interesting flavor. We ordered dessert which was a chocolate Blondie with some ice cream on the side. It was good but nothing special. Ambience was fine but probably a little loud. Service was great. Definitely will return. Parking can be difficult in that area, but we were lucky and found something on Delancy.
Food was delicious and service was great. We loved this restaurant
Overall all nice restaurant. The collard greens were good, the lobster dish was delicious but i wish there was a bit more variety on the menu. I also wish the sweet potato portion on the lobster dish had been larger. The place itself is nice, the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend it and I would go back.
We had a great time!
Food was excellent, service was spot on, prices were much to high. Wife an I each had appetizers, entrees, desserts and two glasses of wine (not a bottle, just $11/glass) and the I’ll with tip was $225.00. We dine out a lot in the City and there are many restaurants around where the food is as good, but for less $ so I doubt we will return. Not because it was bad-it was really quite good. Rather, because there are better values in Philly.
Warm, friendly, knowledgeable service. A beautiful setting and wonderful food and drink. Everything was perfect, top to bottom. Gnocchi, steak tartar and corn were our top pics. Hope to visit again very soon.
HUGE FAN OF THIS PLACE. Will be coming back to try the duck, as I came too late last time. The mussel toast and corn dishes were my two favorite. The Katsu sandwich was a favorite of my tables, although not my first choice. Also a great fan of the rose we ordered. The table ordered a bottle and then a different one by the glass, both were thumbs up. The service was also great and our waiter was both knowledgeable and friendly. The only disappointment of the night was the octopus. The taste was on par with the tasty status of everything else we ate that evening, but given how perfect (GASP, yes and I don't use that word lightly) everything else was, I was disappointed to find out that the octopus was overcooked ( or at least it wasn't tenderized first) and came out chewy! tsk tsk tsk. That said, it definitely won't keep me from coming back for more. There are very few restaurants I go to where I can honestly say to myself that I REALLY want to try 95% of the things on the menu. Call me a picky eater, and know that this establishment was so good, I will be coming back!
Another great meal ... One of our favorite places, never disappoints
I love this restaurant. I used to go there years ago and this reincarnation is much better than the original. The food is one of the best in the city.
I would make two suggested improvements. One, it would be great to have valet parking. I am not sure what is involved with getting that done, but the restaurant is in a challenging part of the city to park. Second, I felt rushed through dinner. Our reservation was for 5:15 (and because of the parking challenges I got there closer to 5:30) and we were done in a little more than an hour. If I am spending $200+ for a dinner for two it would be nice if it took me at least 90 minutes to finish it.
Anniversary dinner was off to a late start, due to parking restrictions. The hostess thought enough to call us before our reservation to tell us about closures in the area. I appreciated that. I also appreciated the service that was nice enough to suggest sparkling rose, and check in after EACH (!) course, without being intrusive, or distracting from the dining experience.
And the MUSIC! Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hathaway, and more!! Not loud, but rewarding to the attentive listener, and different than what one usually experiences during fine dining. All in all, a kick-a$$, approachable, fine dining experience!
I hope to return, for evening drinks near the Square, or the duck confit for two.
It’s was absolutely outstanding in every category!
Beef tartare was the best I have had.
Absolutely the beat for any type celebration. Everything, food, ambiance, and service could not have been better
The restaurant was fantastic, from the cocktails, to the food, to the service. Highly recommended.
The only thing Friday Saturday and Sunday shares with the predecessor restaurant is its name. The restaurant has been revamped into an elegant dining room with exquisite French inspired cuisine. It is now on a par with the best restaurants in Philadelphia. Although an expensive restaurant it represents a good value considering the quality on the food and the fact that there are some reasonable and good bottles of wine.
Dinner was outstanding, as always. The grilled corn is not to be missed, so delicious. The new lobster prep is delicious too.
Exceeded expectations. The food presentation & taste was amazing...
The oysters were excellent! Servicers were very attentive. The price was appropriate for the portion size. Cocktails and wine list was good. We have been trying to get reservations for months. The meal was very good and the oysters made the night. We expected to be awed by the difficulty to get the reservation, we very pleased instead.
Amazing dinner! We will be back again soon!!
Excellence from start to finish. The service, the dishes, the cocktails and wine were superb. Can’t wait to return!
Excellent food and service. Our server, Tim, was great!
Great dinner. Great service. A real twist on classics like sweetbreads or beef tartare. I had a great time. Cocktails are great too.
The service was outstanding. The dishes were executed perfectly and were delicious.
A reincarnated version of a city old time favorite ... the new creation is even better than the original. Great food - creatively prepared - one of the best meals I’ve had in Philadelphia. Service and ambiance are outstanding. A “must go to” place when in the city.
Had a very enjoyable dinner..our waiter Andrew is the best!
Easily one of our top 2 most favorite places to dine in the city. We've recommended to countless friends and family and continue to come back for amazing dining experiences.
