Fritz Bar + Restaurant
We are known for our fun dining atmosphere. We recommending ordering many small share plates to get a taste of everything, all while enjoying a Heady Topper or craft cocktail, mixed with finest distilled liquors.
For holidays, we often put together special tasting menus with multiple courses and a more formal feel to celebrate the occasion. During these times we do limit our regular dinner menu. Please give us a call or visit our website for more information.
Excellent dinner! We had austrian classics -- bratwurts and schnitzel. Food was very tasty.
This is one of our favorite places in Vermont. Such a lovely spot, with history and charm all around. I would only ask..if you book a table during a holiday period....Don't cancel last minute if you can help it. These establishments depend on our support during these difficult days ahead. They're already at reduced capacity. Your cancelled table went empty. And, when you do go, tip your server, generously. Lets work together to get through this tough time. Hope we can all celebrate at a restaurant when we are covid free. It should be so. Be well. Stay safe.
Always love the Fritz! The staff is great, the drinks and food always delicious!
Food was good but few choices. Cheeseburger was very good as was the bar selections. Very nice servers.
Nice atmosphere. Limited quick bite type of menu. Food was good. Great friendly service.
We dine here every time we stay at The Stowehof, and it’s just the best! The food is always flavorful and delicious, the service is quick, and the staff are beyond friendly. One bartender, Dave, is a big reason we come back every year. We just got home today and already can’t wait to be back again!😊
It was a great spot to swing in and enjoy the views and food.
Great food. Great ambience. None of the apres ski noise/sports bar feel of other places.
Fun food in an terrific atmosphere. The ‘ new girl’ was our waitress - I only know this because other patrons bemoaned this fact when they saw her. Was she a poor server? Well maybe understanding that the bill came to over 120 dollars. Yes I want a glass with my beer, yes I need a refill... One obvious regular waited for a good 10 min at the bar and eventually just went behind the bar and grabbed himself a menu. The high stars are for the food and atmosphere.
Great retro vibes at the Stowehof - food is very good, ambience and service are perfect for a low key, fun apres dinner. We come here often and are never disappointed.
Cozy, comfortable, great food, people and service. Located in the Stowehof, its a perfect place to unwind after a day on the slopes.
Love it! A hidden gem in Stowe.
TERRIBLE. We arrived at 7:10 for our 7:15 reservation. Upon arrival, nobody greeted or even acknowledged us for another 10 minutes. When we finally flagged someone down, we were told that they were short staffed and would get to us as soon as possible.
25 minutes later, we were seated. An hour and a half after that, we received our appetizers (cold). Another 30 minutes went by and we got our food; not one of us enjoyed our meal. The burger was chewy and, the salmon had no flavor, the pork chop was overcooked, the ragout was bland.
The bill was over $200 for the worst meal of our entire trip (and possibly beyond).
Stowe has MANY incredible dining options. Do. Not. Waste. Your. Money.
Server was great. We had three little boys with us and they accommodated us. The food was very good comfort type food in a nice rustic location. Next time we are there we will take a slay ride
Wonderful New Year's Eve dinner for our family. The restaurant has a great vibe and our teenagers loved it. Many cozy fireplaces and sitting areas - perfect apres ski spot
Menu is quite limited but service is excellent and so is the food. They can also whip up simple things like buttered noodles for kids even though there is no official
Kids menu. Lovely ambience with huge windows and a roaring fireplace, perfect place for apres ski dinner
We had a nice dinner with our party of four. We had wine and dinner then went out to partake in the Marshmallows and the fire pit. Unfortunately they didn’t have any chocolate For s’mores. Really??? Who runs out of chocolate for s’mores!!?!!!
Great place to have a quiet evening of good food, company & drink!
Went here expecting great things after reading all the good reviews. It was disappointing experience and we ended up only having a cocktail and appetizer (pretzel). Pretzel was good but overpriced for what you get. Atmosphere felt stale.
Gnocchis dish was too small for an entree, at 22 dollars I would expect double the pasta, and the steak came out undercooked and ended up over cook after we sent it back. However, the staff did halve the price of the pasta and flat-iron steak. Would not come back. Staff was very hospitable and understanding.
Love this place. Laid-back, great food and service.
The atmosphere, service and friendliness of the staff at Fritz Bar and Restaurant was second to none! We loved it there. I could not understand the rating OpenTable was asking for noise level. My noise level mark should indicate that the noise level was fine. It was quiet and pleasant.
Never tasted the food because the service was so poor. We left after waiting 30 minutes for drinks, and after watching a table of 4 and a table of 2 leave due to lack of service. What is worse, two general managers were there, received their food and drinks, and did nothing to intervene. I cannot recommend this restaurant as there are too many excellent restaurants in Stowe that value service and great food.
Nice place. Very cozy. The food was great and great service.
I would recommend to a friend but would tell them the food is just ok. The location is interesting but the parking was horrible particularly deep puddles & snowy. Limited menu but interesting (rabbit schnitzel was excellent) but should have had vegetables.
Yummy! Rabbit schnitzel was delicious but everything was so good!!
Our visit was a total fail. The downstairs pub area had old Vermont charm, but we could not get service. After seating ourselves as instructed and being given menus by a waitress, she had a glass mishap at the bar where she got a cut on her arm. We understood when she disappeared for 10-15 minutes to take care of her cut. After getting a bandage, she came back out and immediately took the order of a table who had arrived way after us. Then she vanished again. I asked another waiter if we could please get our order in and he did put it in. However, when the burgers came, he had forgotten to put in my daughter's grilled cheese w tomato soup. Half an hour later, her food came, but the tomato soup was marinara sauce that you might dip mozzarella sticks into. Burger buns were not pretzel as advertised on website menu, but decent burger, not large portions for the price. We would never go back.
Hi Kelly, I apologize that your experience didn't exceed your expectations. I would be happy to bring you back for a meal on us as I know we can do better. Thank you so much for your feedback. - Kelly Tailer AGM
As if the Stowehof needed anything else to make you never want to leave except maybe to ski. The fondue is perfect, the Gluehwein sweet. I wish I could have made my way down the menu, but if you stick to the alpine you won't go wrong. I had a cassoulet that while flavorful was bone-dry, and the creme brulee wasn't up to the standard of the amazing berries and cream from the previous night. Spaetzle with an egg on top and poutine with bacon were both heavenly.
Loved the food and ambiance! A hidden little jem.
Thank you Kathy! We hope to see you again!
This is a rustic, quaint dining place with lots of ambiance, accommodation for bigger groups, and above average food.
It was nice to book the dinner earlier in the evening as the place got really busy at the end. The food was great and the chocolate fondue was exactly what we wanted as the last thing for the dinner.
Fun place, server was charming and helpful, ski village casual vibe
Just a fun and low-key experience - friendly staff and great fondue.
A wonderful neighborhood sort of spot with a good variety of delicious dishes. serving sizes were appropriate - neither too big or small.
Frit's or Open Table took the reservation for 2:30pm but the restaurant does not open until 4pm. I didn't have the opportunity to eat there but it looks and feels like a neat place to have a light meal.
My mom and I went to Fritz (at the Stowehof inn) on a Tuesday evening. I was surprised that it was super quiet and nearly empty. To be fair, it was a Tuesday in the off-season for Stowe. The ambience was lovely - a very classic, warm pub feel with low ceilings and post and beam construction. The hotel itself has interesting architectural details (including an impressive entry portico) and a cozy European vibe. Service was managed by a single employee —the bartender. Since it was a slow evening, it was no problem. They have some interesting appetizers and I enjoyed the snap peas and radishes with whipped goat cheese while Mom opted for the grilled sweet corn. Both were delicious. For the main entrée, I chose Fritz for the Tuesday special—Family-Style Fried Chicken—and was disappointed that it was no longer on the menu. So, I ordered the Steak Fritz which was a strip steak, not a hangar steak. It came *way* overcooked (well done instead of medium) but they promptly adjusted it and delivered one that was medium-rare. Okay, fair enough. The Chilean Pinot Noir was excellent and the Bratwurst that my mom ordered was on point, including what appeared to be homemade sauerkraut. Overall, this is a nice place for low-key comfort food. Friendly staff, not too fussy, decent prices, and a nice view.
This was one of my worst dining experiences ever . Made a reservation on open table . They didn’t have a seat for us so we put one together . Waited 10 minutes for menu. When waiter brought them he literally gave us 30 seconds and asked if we were ready . We ordered drinks . Nothing came until 45 minutes later . No silverware . Fries were cold so we sent back and then were charged for a side of fries . Had to send one entree back as it was not edible . Manager took half off our bill but still was really disappointed as I’ve had several wondeful evenings here with previous management and owner .
amazingly beautiful and fun....unbelievable view-13 of us loved it
We had our wedding reception at the Stowehof last year and were more than eager to return for our first anniversary. There were a couple of menu changes and the food was outstanding! We had the General Tsao's Stack... delicious!! The staff remembered us and were enthusiastic and cheerful. A great place to have a wedding or a simple dinner. We can't say enough about this place.
