From tarte flambè with Arctic char to crème brulée sweetened with our famous maple syrup, Chef Suzanne Baby’s inspired menu has won her a devoted following among Toronto diners.
Renowned for sophisticated weekday lunch and Sunday brunch, Gallery Grill also serves as a stunning setting for private events and receptions. Unwind over signature cocktails by the fireplace, meet for a quick coffee in the cafe, or celebrate a special occasion in one of the University of Toronto's most beloved spaces.

Our table for five was in the lounge area of the grill thereby affording us a quiet atmosphere in which to converse. Everyone very much enjoyed their choice for brunch. The steak (with eggs) was exceptionally tender and delicious.
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary over Sunday brunch at the University of Toronto's Gallery Grill...a lovely Hart House setting overlooking the Great Hall - the venue for our 1980 wedding reception! The dining experience was exceptional in terms of our menu selections as well as the impeccable and attentive service - fanatic attention to detail. We look forward to celebrating future family events at the Gallery Grill! Thanks so much.
A beautiful meal, lovely decor and very good service, polite and friendly.
The only con - the portions are small, all of them. I had soup, mains and dessert and all were small. I'm not looking for large portions, but a little more of each would make the bill, >$100 without drinks, more reasonable.
This charming old place with high ceilings is a bit noisy.
Always a great experience at GG. The food is outstanding and the setting is lovely.
Always a pleasure with exceptional service. It did feel a bit hurried perhaps because of the midweek daytime reso and having two servers wait on you feels a bit unnecessary and confusing.
Always a culinary treat and ambience so lovely! The servers are friendly and attentive.
Waiter was very brash and a bit harried and was not accurate in describing a refreshment. So I felt too intimidated to tell anyone that my rainbow trout was not cooked at all in the middle.
The atmosphere cannot be beat. Hart House is a lovely building set smack in the middle of the U of T campus. It is a trifle noisy but that is due to the acoustics of this stone building, completed just after World War One. My only criticism deals with service - a server who promised a spoon and didn't deliver. Also promised bread and didn't deliver. But I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique dining experience downtown.
Thanks for your recommendation MrMorrison! And please accept my apologies for the lapses in service you describe - we'll do better next time! Hope to see you again! Jerry Horton, manager
Lovely table snug against the fireplace, rather than the noisier main dining room. Very attentive service and we both enjoyed our meals which were different from what we regularly cook at home. Look forward to visiting for brunch.
Thanks so much for your kind words, christiner! The bar room is definitely the place to be if you're in the mood for a quieter lunch/brunch - could be thanks to the timber ceiling. We appreciate your feedback and your support, and I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Always great to visit Gallery Grill. Service is attentive and the options are good and delicious. However, there was an error on the menu and felt this should have been mentioned when they were given to us not when the server took our order.
Thanks so much for your enthusiastic & positive review, Leila! I have to agree - the menu error should have been pointed out when you received the menu. (It was that darn lamb & chickpea soup, wasn't it? LOL) We'll do better next time. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Brian was a greater sever. Excellent setting. Great value.
Thanks for your review Anthony! We appreciate your patronage and your feedback. Hope to see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Food service and beauty of surroundings was all great. Only complaint is that the room is very noisy. Next time I would request a table in the bar which Is much quieter
Thanks so much for your kind words, CarolJ! You are correct, the bar room is much quieter - might be the timber ceiling. We appreciate your feedback and your support. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Table service was OK, but perhaps a little slow and not attentive. maybe the university crowd is a little laissez-faire on this.
Thanks for recommending Gallery Grill, MikeD! We appreciate your patronage and your feedback. We hope to see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Stately academic quiet ambiance without being pretentious.
Food never disappoints.
Thanks so much for your kind words JayB! We appreciate your feedback and your support. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Went to Gallery Grill on a Sunday during Winterlicious for lunch. We sat in the front room, near the wood burning fireplace, listening to the live orchestra practice downstairs. The ambiance of the hidden space was absolutely superb. The food was also fantastic. From our two meals, the standouts were: Baked Chèvre salad, the Crispy rice cakes were outstanding, and would happily eat nothing but Lemon Blueberry Pavlova for a week. Great experience!
Thanks so much for your enthusiastic positive review, CanadianVeg! We have to agree - Hart House does provide a fantastic setting for our extra-talented chef Suzanne Baby and her menu of sophisticated comfort food. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
I loved the amazing ambience. The food was delicious. I saw an artist doing a portrait, an orquestra doing their rehearsal , one bridge in her big day. Uoft is a Canadian symbol...a perfect combination between the innovation and the traditional....
Hart House is a pretty amazing place, isn't it? Thanks so much for your enthusiastic review MauroM! We appreciate your feedback and your support, and we hope you'll return soon! Jerry Horton, manager

Gallery Grill is a hidden treasure. This fine restaurant is tucked away in an historic building at the University of Toronto. Great spot for meeting with friends and colleagues. An inventive, tasty menu using locally-sourced products. Very nice wine list too. The bar even has blazing fireplace to welcome you on a chilly day.
Thanks GolfProf! We really appreciate your support, patronage and positive feedback, and I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
We were three guys lunching after our swim. Every one of us was very happy with each and every food item. My cassoulet was delicious. The soups were good, the service was top-notch, and we can hardly wait to some again.

I found the food and atmosphere appropriate to the occasion which was brunch with family members. However I was disappointed with the waiter. He asked me to hang up my own coat, was in a hurry to take a place setting away before the other guests arrived and was stingy with information and suggestions about the meal. You'd think I was doing him a favour and this is an expensive place.
Thanks for taking the time to review Gallery Grill, specialaunt! We appreciate your feedback and will take up your criticisms with the team. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Always a pleasure.
This is a very special place.
The decor of the restaurant is beautiful; both warm and welcoming.
Our waiter is a real professional, happy to answer any and all of our questions.
We go as a family every year just before Christmas and we have never been disappointed.
Thanks for the kind & thoughtful review JanetE! We appreciate your patronage and feedback. I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
The food is excellent, but there's not much of it. I had the Sea Breem. Even for a light eater, it would have been a small portion. There were a few salad leaves, a table-spoon of lentils and a few roasted carrots. The highlight was the Crème Brule, but at $11 was over-priced compared to market.
Thanks for taking the time to review Gallery Grill! We appreciate your feedback and will take it under consideration . I hope we'll see you again soon! Jerry Horton, manager
Elegantly casual. Amazing food. Service is personal, funny, efficient but not cloying.

Superb, high quality food every time. Gallery Grill NEVER dissapoints. Wehad the cheese starter with lavash which was very good. There are so many delicious sounding dishes that it was very hard to choose a main - i had the sea bream - delicate and very flavourful - loved the crispy lentils. This was followed by a classic Canuck dessert..... the maple creme brulee - out of this world!!! One of our group had the carrot cake dulce de leche - again, absolutely phenom. Our server was absolutely a delight and made very good rcommendations. Can't wait to return!
Everyone enjoyed their meals, though pricey. As a retiree of OISE/UT, we all remembered meals
while we could come over. Too far for most of us now. Please repair female washroom.Thank you
and most appreciated . Will try again next year. Cheers!
Thanks for taking the time to review Gallery Grill, Millie! We appreciate the feedback. I hope we'll see you again soon! (Washroom fixed!) Jerry Horton, manager

Always such a wonderful place not only for regular lunch but for celebrations - thanks so much to Jerry and his team for making our son’s 21st birthday brunch so special!
ALWAYS a wonderful experience at the Gallery grill. Suzanne Baby's menu is incredible and celebrates in season foods and local fare. Jerry and the team are such wonderful ambassadors. Can't wait to return later this week!
consistently superb...( the key word being: ' consistency')...one knows what to expect and is always rewarded.. been coming for years
A wonderful meal at the Gallery Grill, with fabulous service. So sad not to be able to look down on the Great Hall below though... perhaps next time we are in Toronto.
