Contemporary Italian
Our menu is inspired by contemporary Italian cuisine with a French influence. We offer casual ala carte options from 11AM till 3PM daily, as well as a set tasting menu known as our "Leisurely Lunch". From 5PM till close, we are an evolving prix fixe tasting menu in the main dining room and offer ala carte options at the bar and patio. Our robust beverage program includes a full bar and wine cellar delivering a variety of pairings for each course. Executive Chef Peter Froese has been featured in numerous articles such as the Seattle Met for his carefully curated "Chef's Marathon" as being a foodie experience one should take advantage of while in Spokane. Gander and Ryegrass is located downtown in the Liberty Building near Riverfront Park.


We keep a florist on staff and would love to provide you a custom bouquet of flowers for your special dinner out. Please call the restaurant (509.315.4613) to arrange your bouquet. (supplemental price of $40)

    Gander and ryegrass is the best restaurant in all of Spokane . Amazing chef led courses. We have eaten here more than a dozen times and we have never been disappointed. Wine pairing is full glasses so come ready to drink. Also make sure you have 3 hours for any chef led dinner. Spokane is so lucky to have this place for fine dining .

    Our 3 course dinner with some surprise bites was fantastic. The service was amazing. They took care of us while making sure we were done with one course. We were not rushed at all. The food was delicious. Each dish we had we were blown away! We will definitely be back.

    20/10. Exceeded all expectations. Do the three course menu with the sommelier wine pairing, you won’t be disappointed! Husband and I agreed it was the best meal we’ve ever had. Gander and Ryegrass is our new place to go for celebration dinners, already looking forward to the next time. Just need something to celebrate!

    The perfect spot for a ladies lunch with easy parking next door. The food was the highlight plus interesting cocktails and a unique wine list. Chef Wyatt visited our table to make sure we were happy. Will return.

    Dinner was spectacular! We go every year for Christmas but this was by far the best! Just bring back the spiked eggnog 🤣

    The marathon was absolutely worth it. The best food experience I’ve ever had. My husband is not a “foodie” but was blown away with each course. We had a phenomenal time! I’m not sure if our server was new, she was a little slow and not very chatty, but the rest of the staff was above and beyond!

    The food was amazing and so were the cocktails. We didn’t quit expect the meal to take 3+ hours so definitely would recommend an earlier reservation not later in the evening unless ur going on a weekday!

    We made reservations for “special occasion” and L from the restaurant called to inquire… we arrived to find two signed cards of congratulations and the evening continued to be celebratory with excellent cocktails, kind staff, delicious food and dessert.

    Shaved pork loin, ground pork, sliced pork loin, sliced pork belly (nightmares of trattoria, minus the discontent in the air), and popcorn. No game meats, no fowl, no beef, flat out no unique items. If it was a pork marathon it would have hit the mark. Chef never came to table which is not the experience I’ve had the other times I’ve committed to the marathon option. Three hours of dining and not a single table side thank you or greeting was a massive disappointment. When reserving I specifically noted it was a special occasion, why even ask if the entire experience doesn’t reflect the question? The sommelier was excellent, only way I think it could have been elevated would have been to explain some terminology for those at the table that aren’t as well versed in the wine making process, or at least ask experience level. All to say, a very odd and underwhelming experience for what I previously considered the best restaurant in Spokane. It ultimately decreased the value of the food. It felt as though I was eating at a upscale “priced” establishment with “nice” restaurant food. Having plates of pork belly and pork loin with popcorn dropped off with no explanation is severely sub standard. The place seems to be exclusive because it costs much more than typical Spokane fine dining, not because the food is so remarkable it’s hard to get a reservation.

    Food and drinks were excellent. Our waiter was also the bartender (we did not sit at the bar) and so while the service started good, we ended up being kind of neglected as he was so busy. The entree took a long time to come… excellently prepared and kinda small. The nuts appetizer was good as was the cheese plate and drinks top notch. We almost skipped dessert as we were anxious to get going and we were afraid it would take too long. Ended up needing to flag down the waiter.

    We hadn't been for quite a while due to certain requirements being forced so this was our first time back in 3 years. It was very good. Service was great, food was really good. Some things better than others, but overall very good. The price though... that's the reason I don't give it 5 stars all around. The value for what we got wasn't great. We don't mind spending money on great food. We spent $500 just a week ago at a restaurant in Athol, and that was totally worth it.

    We had an incredible experience!! From our server Jay to the well knowledgeable sommelier, it was absolutely exceptional. We loved it so much we went back for lunch the next day. If you are an adventurous eater or foodie this place will definitely satisfy you. We enjoyed the Marathon food option accompanied by the sommelier Wine Pairing, delizioso. Buon appetito!

    We recently indulged in the Chefs Marathon dinner, a culinary journey that left us awestruck. This multi-course extravaganza was a symphony of flavors and textures, each plate a masterpiece in its own right, all harmoniously building towards the grand crescendo of the main course. It was nothing short of exceptional! What truly set this experience apart was the impeccable service. Multiple servers, each well-versed in the art of fine dining, took us on a guided tour through every course. They expertly detailed the ingredients and the meticulous preparation that went into creating these culinary wonders. I highly recommend this special fair.

    The food is artful and exquisite. Delightful small bites in the “marathon.” One small drawback is that the ambience isn’t quite private enough to be very romantic for couples.

    We have always been impressed but our Sunday lunch sadly was a disappointment. My ‘summer’ salad had watermelon that was clearly past its season and not very fresh. Why did I have bland slices of pork Loin on top of the gem lettuce? Very sad. Also, the ‘savory’ crepe didn’t have much flavor with little asparagus and a few hidden pieces of speck. A lovely glass of French Chardonnay saved the experience.

    We have been here 4 or 5 times over the last two or three years. Overall, the food here surpasses all expectations, it is truly delectable. One of the things we love is that each time we come, they have been tweaking the menu here and there, and they come up with amazing and unexpected flavor combinations that turn out to be fabulous. Only very rarely do the flavors not quite work together. However, every time we've been served something that they are perfecting, the chef has come out to ask how we enjoyed it and whether there is any way they could improve it.

    We tried to dine here on 9/2. We came and noticed the menu was brunch only so we left until returning on 9/11 with a work group. We were incredibly excited to bring our team as we had anticipated this for quite awhile and had been following on IG for months. Tonight, at close to $300/pp we found the 6-course marathon tasting offensive. Pork was the primary protein and everyone left unsatisfied. The sommelier tasting was large pours of wine that market prices less than $25/bottle and/or is poured from multiple bottles. 6 pours should require a fresh bottle. We would have paid for fresh versus pours from different bottles. Overall, we compared this to Inland Northwest Kitchen (Spokane) or Beverly’s (CDA). Both of those places are easily better performing for similar price points.
