An authentic, modern French brasserie in the heart of Toronto’s vibrant east end, Gare de l’Est was named after one of the oldest and largest train terminals in Paris, France.     Excellent value and delicious food. They didn't have our table ready on time for our reservation (10 min delay) so they offered us complementary beverages at the bar while we waited. Would definitely be back next time I'm in Toronto! Highly recommend.

    Food was very good to excellent. Service was terrible. Server awkward and unapologetic when things took way way longer than they should have. In fact she was intimidating and rude. Having booked a 2hour slot prior to showtime, we had to rush through our main courses to make it to the show on time.

    Another excellent meal at Gare de L'Est. The Coq au Vin, Saumon Vigneron, and Duck Confit were served PERFECTLY prepared, and arrived hot (which seems to be a missing feature in some restaurants!). Starters included the French Onion soup and Pate Grandmere. Service was very accomodating, and don't forget Tuesday nights are half price wine bottles! All around, our neighborhood go to for a good meal, at reasonable prices.

    The aesthetic was very comfortable, and if you're seeing a show at the Guloien Theatre, locationally it can't be beat. We were there for the Winterliscious menu. Even though we were there for 5:45, they ran out of one of the three apps--the escargot. Seriously? We both had the trout, which was delicious. Unfortunately the cauliflower served with it was cold. We informed the waitress, but nothing came of it. The service was outstanding beyond that. We took a look at the regular menu, and it looks really good. We'll give it another chance if we're in the area to see a show, just in case it was an off night.

    Great service, liked the food ( even though winterlicious menues are often subpar), wine-food pairing was excellent, the place is nice and spacious. It was a pleasant surprise, will be dining at Gare de l’Est again to discover the full menu.

    I can't understand why it took me so long to have a meal at Gare de l'Est -- it's great. I had the lamb shank which was delicious. I probably would have preferred potatoes, rather than the beans, served with it, but it was a great dish. Along with their excellent baguette, it made for a splendid before-theatre dinner. The service was delightful.
