Great first course, but was given the wrong main course and they tried to put it right by preparing thecorrect one so quickly that it was still cold in the middle. A shame, as it had the potential to be so good.

Nice decor and overall feel but they really cram the tables in and it's a bit loud, not just from all the people but also the music was turned up fairly high. Food was very good but not anything to rave about. I will say that compared to a lot of comparable restaurants the prices were fairly reasonable. Service was fine.

Great food! We had the charcuterie board, beef cheeks, Cavatelli and mussels. The service was a smidge slow but they were all super friendly!

Très bel endroit avec une belle ambiance et un très bon service Seul bémol est au niveau de la nourriture qui malheureusement manquait un peu de goût. La joue de bœuf très bien cuite mais sans trop de saveur alors que la pieuvre était excellente

This was my worst meal in Montreal over a 5 day visit. The Octopus appetizer was not seasoned well and was luke warm. The second dish, fish, came before the appetizer was even finished. The fish was good but was sitting on a massive plate of tasteless beans. The main dish of lamb shank was tasteless and cold. I sent it back and asked them not to replace it. Thankfully they took it off the bill. Also, my dining companion had two small spiders on his plate. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant nor would I ever return.

Excellent accueil et notre serveur etait tres a l'écoute. Le poulpe était délicieux et pleins de saveurs. La joue de boeuf était fondante, tout était un regal. Merci a Ludovic pour sa gentillesse et son professionnalisme.

The food was fine, nothing special. Service was very prompt and attentive. Though this restaurant was fine I am not sure how this rated as TripAdvisor's #1 place. Too many other great restaurants in the city to give it that rating.

I had the lamb, it was fall-off-the-bone excellent, our waiter was friendly and efficient and all food and drinks were great, we would recommend it, we had one vegetarian meal and it was also delicious.

L'accueil, le service, le personnel et les plats sont de bonne qualité. Cependant, le bruit ambiant ternit un peu l'expérience à mon goût. En effet, le bruit d'ambiance est beaucoup trop présent et oblige tout le monde à parler plus fort qu'on ne devrait.

The location is in old town but on the water side. Gaspar is associated with the hotel it is in and there was valet parking but not offered to Gaspar patrons. Parking was a quarter mile away! Otherwise, the ambience was great, the food was good and the service was good.

We were here for a small family celebration and had a great time! This was our first time here and can see it becoming a regular for dinners. The service was friendly, attentive and casual - in other words everything you want in a service. The food was very good. It is a French Bistro, nothing to elaborate and everything very competently prepared and decent value (if such a thing exists these days). We had a great time, enjoyed ourselves and the restaurant. We will be back.

Had to pour my own wine. Waitress watched us pour our own water. Presentation of the bavette de boeuf was horrible. Main dishes served before an appetizer.

We had dinner on a Saturday night. We were hoping for something classy and romantic. Instead it was very boisterous an so loud we basically had to yell to hear each other. If you are looking for a quiet place for a romantic dinner on Saturday night don't go here. The owners could do a lot to make it less incredibly loud by covering some hard surfaces with fabrics or material that absorb sound. Instead there is stone and glass everywhere - exactly the way you would design a room to be as loud as possible. Dumb. Service was so-so.

beautiful and delicious food Gaspar is rated #2 out of 10,000+ restaurants in Montreal on Trip Advisor and I think it's well deserved and it's perhaps joint #1 food was absolutely delicious the salads/side salad with the entree was also spectacular. Long time since I've enjoyed the side salad that much of our party of 4 everyone loved the food *** they need to add more dessert options. get in a dedicated pastry chef and have 5 to 10 options instead of just 2 *** ambience was really good too and would be checking it out on the weekend later this year to see what weekends are like *** very unpretentious place given the excellent level of food and very friendly and professional staff

Our group enjoyed the beef cheeks, cocktails were well prepared and the service was terrific. We were at high top table near the back and there was a cold breeze that kept coming through and one of our guests was quite chilled by it. Other than the draft, everyone was lovely

Its hard to beat old Montreal for dining and Gaspar's atmosphere is a typical old style stone restaurant in a posh hotel...The food was delicious and the service was first rate, they paid close attention to your wants.
