Great experience! Took a couple of friends who had never been to Gaylord’s - they loved it.
We went to Gaylord’s to celebrate our anniversary. It was delicious in a beautiful setting.
Gaylord’s is a great place for lunch after the train ride. We came here twice during our 14 days on Kauai. The food is outstanding—especially the fresh catch of the day. We liked the open air patio, attention to detail, flower arrangements, and paintings on the walls too. It felt elegant, yet laid back. We would come here again! The service was outstanding! Dining Hawaiian style for sure!
We have dined here many times and love it...it’s a must do every time we visit Kauai.
Craig, Cisco, and Shelby were fantastic! Would highly recommend for the food and the staff.
Fantastic food and service. The Mac Nut encrusted fish with purple mash sweet potatoes was outstanding. My husband loved the baby backed ribs.
Also went out of their way to provide me with ice for my ankle which I had sprained site seeing earlier in the day at another location.
Our visit to Gaylord's at Kilohana was probably the least favorite restaurant during our recent visit to Kauai. We had an advance reservation and were seated right away. Our waiter came over right away and we gave him our orders. We ordered the Caprese Salad to be brought first and then our entree's after. We both ordered the Short Ribs.
Following our order another couple came in and were seated. We could overhear their initial order which consisted of an appetizer dip and the Caprese Salad. We waited and waited. Eventually the other guests received both their appetizer and Caprese while we were still waiting. When I questioned the hostess she said that she'd find out what was going on. Eventually, a server brought our Caprese salad. He literally dropped the salad in the middle of the table and presented my wife with a plate. I did not get a plate. He didn't say anything but just walked away.
The manager came over and apologized for the oversight and promised to take care of us. I have to say that the tomatoes were dry and the cheese was over baked.
We then eventually received our short rib orders. The short ribs were delicious. It came with a scoop side of mashed potatoes. The potatoes had a hard skin which indicated that they have been sitting under a heat lamp for who knows how long.
The manager did comp us for the salad and a glass of wine and was very apologetic. We appreciate it when service is under stress due to an abundance of customers but there were only 4 occupied tables when we went.
What a wonderful setting and outstanding food. The short ribs were flavorful and really tender. Service was outstanding and you didn’t feel rushed
It was very pleasant. Very reasonably priced. I personally did not care for my menu selection, but my husband enjoyed his.
Food and location amazing! Had a waiter who kept forgetting our drinks and even forgot to bring our appetizer!! All he wanted to do was talk about himself and being from the east coast!! Gaylord’s needs to let him go find another job which suits him better!! Other then that , everything was wonderful!!
A real jewel in Kauai! Every member of the team was attentive to our needs and the setting was worth the visit itself! Food was over the top! Thanks Gaylords!
We visit every time we come to Kauai. Wonder estate and dining experience. Food, ambiance and service are always outstanding. This is more than just a dining experience.
Amazing service....phenomenal menu, quiet ambiance. Decor is old school Hawaii which is a breath of fresh air.
The pork was delicious, slightly tough but overall the flavors were good. The scallops were cooked to perfection though a contrast in textures would’ve been nice as the potato cakes had gotten soggy. A good experience overall. Servers and busboys were friendly
Brunch buffet was mediocre at best. The food wasn’t worth the money, and we came away feeling hungry.
We really enjoyed our brunch at Gaylord's. The food was wonderfully prepared and there was plenty of choices! The live music and Hawaiian dancer was a perfect compliment to the ambience.
Beautiful, peaceful seeting with great food. There was a wide choice suitable for all pallets. Wonderful service.
The plantation house setting really set the mood for Gaylord's. We liked "going back in time" for the short while. The fish and chips I had was very good and unique in being made from the catch of the day. My wife had the dip sandwich which was made from steak strips. Very enjoyable as well. The non-alcoholic Lava Flow (pineapple, coconut and strawberry) mocktail was the best we had on all Kaua'i. We both felt, however, that the coated french fries could have been either steak fries or, even better, been fresh cut.
Service was excellent - friendly and efficient.
We have been to Gaylord's for dinner and lunch, and I like it better for lunch. Not only are the prices more reasonable, but the setting is so pleasant that you can see it better in the daytime.
Drinks and ambience was great! Food was average faire, but locally sourced.
We visited Gaylord’s on the last night of our honeymoon trip to Kauai- Craig was an amazing and attentive host for our meal! The food was divine and the service was unmatched. We can’t wait to come back!
Great service, food and location. Along with decent prices, what more could you want?
Poke was somewhat flavorless, needed more marinade, however , presentation was lovely. Desserts were very good, high rating in that category,
Lovely Hawaiian ambiance🌺🌴
Service staff was great and went out of the way to make our anniversary special
Caesar salad used to be 5*. But dressing on wilted greens was very disappointing. We did, however, return next day for lunch, & pulled pork = 5*! Desserts great! Gift shops there absolutely worth a trip. Lunch prices not over the top!
We have gone to Gaylord’s every time we come to Hawaii and it never disappoints. Excellent quiet romantic setting with great service and food. They have luau’s about four times a week but are held off in a remote area and all you catch at the restaurant is a hint of Hawaiian music in the background. Superb!
We have been visiting Kauai from New Jersey every year since 2014, and Gaylord’s has been a must dining date for my wife and me every year! And it will continue to be so.
Last evening was outstanding as usual, and Anthony was a most pleasant and provided excellent service.
We are annual visitors to Kauai since 1979 and we always dine and shop at the Kilohana complex. We have seen many changes over the years but still like to have brunch and happy hour at Gaylord's every year. Thanks for the great memories.
Gaylord's was better in the past. The restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night of memorial day weekend. The food was decent, but a shadow of what it was two years ago. I was dismayed that casual attire and attitude was being permitted. The 20 somethings in yoga and beach attire watching YouTube videos with the volume on high had an adverse impact on our anniversary dinner.
The setting is still delightful for a dinner for two, but be prepared to have your ire raised. I will give them another go next year. The wait staff was still great and attentive. I would fault the management for the slide in caliber not the establishment. I am hopeful it was a off night for the kitchen staff and the management reads this review and returns their focus to providing a fine dinning experience.
Great service, great value, excellent location, wonderful ambiance.
Fresh catch of day smothered with a tomato sauce, over powering. Asked for a special table to celebrate our anniversary and offered several mediocre tables, nothing special. Did not offer a free dessert or anything for our special occasion. Disappointed. Not worth the price.
As always the food and service were exceptional. Our favorite restaurant.
Have always liked Gaylord’s but the restaurant was disappointing this week. One member of our group got sick on the seafood special and was sick all night and my short rib dinner was not good. Too much sauce. Mai tais used to be great.
First time here for brunch, food was really good! Typical Sunday brunch fare, omelet station, etc, bacon was cooked perfectly, food was hot, and not dried out. Dessert table was fantastic. Also had good live music with hula dancer and not too loud for conversations
Appetizers and entrees were very good. Craig, our waiter, was excellent and offered good suggestions. The setting was great for a romantic evening. My only negative comment is that the “ by the glass “ wine list is very limited. I found this surprising considering the overall high quality of the establishment.
Wonderful atmosphere Food was great. Pork chop was a little over cooked. Everything else was perfect.
This is the top place for a special meal on Kauai--it never disappoints in food, service, or ambiance. It's always a part of our visit to the island. It's great, too, for just stopping in the bar. But lunch or dinner are a must.
The lunch was downgraded only because there was a screaming kid at adjoining table.
Staff, understandably, couldn't do much about it. ( think the kid was autistic)
Screaming, youngsters under ? years old should be banned, or dine in separated area. This is still an outstanding restaurant that I will return to in the future and will definitely recommend.
Very friendly staff, delicious food and drinks, absolutely beautiful setting!!!! Will go again soon.
Some of the food was excellent and delicious and some of it was good. We were a party of 8 and we all ordered different menu items so we could taste more dishes. One grandson ordered the hamburger which he inhaled in a couple minutes and then declared it was the best hamburger he had ever eaten. Other menu items we ordered included tacos, pulled pork sandwich, pasta, and fresh catch fish. All of them earned the excellent and delicious category. The dessert was good, not amazing. We didn’t enjoy our server as she was curt, never smiled and seemed somewhat annoyed that she was working. Definitely not a warm island aloha from her. All of that being said, we wanted to go back during our two week stay because it was one of our top two favorite places. It never worked out to go a second time on this trip but we will make it our first stop on our next visit To Kauai.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Really enjoyed.
