With a name that means "cozy or nice atmosphere, but also belonging and general togetherness," gezellig invites guests to experience an elegant menu of local, seasonal cuisine using french techniques in a casual and welcoming environment. Located in Ottawa, Ontario, gezellig prepares each menu item using high-quality ingredients purchased locally. On the menu are items such as seared scallops, braised beef shortibs, potato gnocchi, beef tartare, duck breast, and wild-caught lingcod. Our classic butterfinger for dessert is a staple that has been on our menu since opening in 2012

Food was ok. Service was good. They seated us upstairs way in the back by the bathroom in spite of the fact that I made the booking over a month in advance. Yes we brought kids but they were older (9 and 10). Kids had dressed up nicely and were excited to be out at a “nice” place, only to be shoved in a booth far from natural light and other diners. Ruined the Mother’s Day ambiance. Suggest finding another resto if you’re bringing kids for a social occasion (even older kids).

It was lackluster for my expectations for brunch in terms of service. I was never offered a coffee refill, the wait staff did not ask how everything was. All-in-all, I wouldn't return for brunch again.

Lovely birthday dinner, had a lovely cheese plate to start which was relly nice. Not too loud, was able to have conversation

As always, we had a perfect dining experience! Gezellig is our favourite restaurant in the city and it never disappoints. I have a dairy allergy and they are always great to accommodate! It’s easy and stress free (which isn’t the case at all restaurants). I highly recommend!

Exquisite cuisine and top-notch service are a given here. This visit was no exception. The menu changes, but the experience is consistent. Our server really knew her stuff and guided us well. We went with the Duck and the Scallops this time -- both were excellent!

Encore une merveilleuse expérience au Brunch. La poutine vraiment pleine de saveurs (oui un peu hippy comme disait Andrée) et le pain aux bananes très plaisant pour mon bec sucré. Peut-être des tranches un peu plus épaisses? Service sans faille en français avec Andrée et belle visite en fin de repas de Janaina (j'ai correctement épelé son nom cette fois) qui apprécie nos "cours " de français. J'y ai croisé des amis de Vanier, donc la réputation se répand!
