Sadly the chicken parm was awful! It was rubbery and hard to eat. I asked the waitress if that was chicken and she said it was., I was shocked that they could make chicken so badly., as we go to Giovanni’s at least once a month and this never tasted this bad. Zach, the chef wasn’t there and I didn’t want to make a fuss so I didn’t eat it. The table behind us got their food and one of them had ordered veal parmigiana and he called the waitress and said “This meat is chewy and it’s like eating rubber” the exact same thing that I experienced. May have served me veal instead,

We have dinner at Giovanni’s whenever we visit the Beachwood/Cleveland are, which is approximately three times per year. We believe it to be the very best fine dining restaurant in the Cleveland area. We were there for dinner two evenings ago ( the Friday after Thanksgiving). Our server, Amy, was kind and attentive. We would specifically request her again. The Dover Sole is a uniquely superb dish. Perfectly prepared. Not dry; not too much sauce … again, just perfect. It’s not easy to find such a traditional dish prepared so well. The veal, of course, is perfection. 10 out of 10. Giovanni’s is elegant yet comfortable; one of the reasons why my wife and I look forward to our trips to Cleveland.

Our server was the best we have had in a very very long time! We sat in the bar area which had just the right amount of energy and noise. The stuffed peppers were a bit small but otherwise spicy and delicious. We both got the halibut and it was perfection as always! .

This restaurant has become our go to for special occasions. The quality of our meals and service are always impeccable. We ordered a beet salad, wedding soup, salmon and halibut. Everything was delicious and served as ordered. Our meals were piping hot and the presentation was very good. One mild criticism is there could have been more vegetables in the wedding soup. It was mostly broth and a meatball. Our server was always there when needed but not particularly friendly.

I dine at Giovanni's with reasonable frequency, and am usually quite pleased, so this visit was an outlier. After we were seated, without menus, it was 10 minutes before I finally asked for someone to provide menus and take our drink orders. Someone came promptly, offering a vague apology about a "mixup". Food was very good as usual, but even though we told the server that we needed to be out no later than 7p to go to a concert (we arrived at the restaurant at 5:32p), clearing was slow, and there was a further slowdown with running my credit card, and we finally just left after a manager told us they had posted the credit card charge but were having a problem generating a receipt and could they send me a receipt by email. I declined to delay our departure any further and left. After 7p. And yes we were late. Not at all happy with this incident.

The service was poor but the food was pretty good. At the price point I would expect attentive service but unfortunately I won’t be returning. We felt a little forgotten most of the evening and like we were bothering the staff when we had to ask for basic things.

Giovanni’s is a must every time we come to Cleveland. We have even traveled just for dinner here! We tried some new dishes (to us) and they DID NOT disappoint! When veal picatta was phenomenal, as was the steak tartare (it is served atop a bone with warm marrow inside and a very neat presentation for the egg yolk! The pappardelle was amazing, as always. Our waitress was attentive and friendly! Thank you, Giovanni’s, for yet another amazing meal!

Everything was perfect. my wife had a special that was salad with lobster salad and lobster cakes, which was terrific. I had pork cutlets which were thin and juicy with penne in a vodka sauce, which was also delicious. Wine was good as was the service. I highly recommend.

Excellent choice…Foods outstanding, service is excellent. My only problem was that if your waiter who has started serving us (2) gets a party of eight, you kinda get delayed in service. Why they don’t give the waiter an additional assistance is baffling. But the restaurant is awesome, and I’d go back there without reservation…

We were disappointed this time. Service was pretty awful took about half an hour just to get the wine we ordered. Very long time until waitress actually took our food order, about an hour. Didn’t get any bread until we requested it half way through our entrees. Ordered the dover sole ($85) they brought it out and showed it to another guest, I think the idea was to prepare it table side but tables are so close together they have preparation going on off in a corner, we missed the whole thing. Food was good, but overall experience was lacking. Expect more for the price tag.

our server was lovely. My Paloma cocktail was superior. We both had the steak tartare/marrow bone appetizer, which was beautifully presented and delicious. I had the Chicken Français. It was very underwhelming, although the Chicken itself was good. Very oily over all. Overcooked Brussels Sprouts. Mashed potatoes were very soupy. My guest had the Scallops, which she enjoyed. Overall, it was still a good dining experience, and I would certainly return to Giovanni’s.

Always a great dining experience. Highly recommended. An absolutely classic and classy restaurant. Love the wine selection . My only minor gripe is my Cioppino had a thicker sauce as opposed to a traditional broth. The sauce was like a full flavored tomato bisque. It overpowered the seafood.

We hadn't been to Giovanni's in at least 10 years, and wondered how it had weathered the pandemic storm. Glad to report: no damage we could find. It certainly is one of the most pricey places in town, but it's one that can justify its high cost by providing a classic old-world dining experience. If you like this sort of high-style European restaurant -- and as long as you won't be put off by the high prices -- we highly recommend Giovanni's.
