WE ALWAYS SAVE ROOM FOR WALK IN'S
I was disappointed with my burger and the portion size of the appetizers. The burger was tough and didn’t have good taste. Cocktails were decent and service was kind of slow for being a relatively quiet night. The venue has a nice decor, but I won’t go back.
Amazing food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere.
The food was absolutely delish! Great local joint! The Flames Dog is great. The squid was cooked perfectly and those little cash money sacks of creamed blue crab are flipping ridiculous! Surprisingly filling as well so order accordingly!
The quality and flavours were exceptional. Everything we tried was excellent. We especially loved the Yaki ramen bowl, roasted beets, halloumi and the specials.
Definitely revisit once COVID crisis is contained!
As promised the restaurant had a cool, swanky vibe. The food was tasty, but pricey given the small plates. The waitress was fairly attentive. Overall, it was a good dining experience. Oh, and the bathroom art was great.
This was 3 of 4 of our first time and what a wonderful experience. We left the ordering to our server, who did a fantastic job. Everything was delicious especially the cheese skewers!!! Would recommend and will be back.
I did not enjoy the food or experience at Gorilla Whale. The cocktails were quite disappointing, the food was fine, although it made me feel slightly ill after, but the dessert was the main let down. The dessert was banana spring rolls which are theoretically delicious, but they put like yellow craft singles in it which was both horrifying and did not taste good. Which wasn't ideal, but when I mentioned this disappointment to the waitress and she was quite flippant about it, when a better response would have been "i'll mention it to the chef" or something.
Enjoyed delicious happy hour skewers, great beer from Last Best, and the weirdest tasty dessert we've ever had. We'll be back!
We really enjoyed our experience at Gorilla Whale. The space was fun and lively and the food was creative and unexpected. Our servers were top notch that made us feel well taken care of without being constantly pestered. It is nice to see the continuing revitalization of the Ingleweird Neighbourhood, it used to be such a dump!
It is a cool place with a nice vibe. Food was good, portions are small, so you can share but you need to order quite a few dishes to feel full
Food was delicious
Wonderful and interesting menu. Loved all the gluten free friendly options that were very tasty. Great service and really good happy hour selections both with food and drink.
It was great! Excellent service, great food - our favourite restaurant!
The food was fantastic - highly recommend the fried tofu and the cucumber salad. Lots of vegetarian options and our server (Ricky) was incredible. Music is loud but that is part of the "theme" for this place; while I couldn't whisper, I had no issues holding a conversation with my husband. Can't wait to go back!
Great food and excellent service! Definitely would recommend
Always very innovative. Don’t let the cocktail menu pass you by either.
We had great food, great service & a great time!
Excellent food, fun vibe. Lots of food for people with dietary restrictions
Sat at the bar. Received great service. Food was excellent!!!
Much better than our last visit - we had our friend (who is a fan) do the ordering for us this time.
Love this place. Our first time and what an awesome surprise! Patrick is a great server!
We really enjoyed our lunch at GW as the food was excellent, it had a nice ambiance and our waitress was exceptional. The slight downsides were a toilet seat that was about to fall off and the music noise level seemed high for a noon hour outing.
Awesome restaurant. Good food excellent service.
Went with a group of 6 friends and had a great time. Really yummy food and delicious drinks. Funky setting and awesome service. Highly recommended for something different and unique.
Our favourite place to eat in Inglewood. Great spot to have a meal, share some bites or just have a cocktail. The staff is the best in town!
The service was fantastic and the food is a
The service was very slow at first. Our server seemed very busy!!
Cocktails were great, happy hour sticks were great and appetizers were very good as well. We loved the service too.
We had lunch on a Saturday morning. The food was wonderful. Service was quick and the waitress did not interrupt. That is huge in my books. We had a lovely visit and will go again.
Great share plate restaurant! Delicious food, great wine and nice atmosphere.
Innovative dishes and great service! Highly enjoyable and we will be going back as soon as we can.
Highly recommend this restaurant. Service was impeccable. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun without being too loud to talk easily. Food was DELICIOUS and very reasonably priced. Tonnes of gluten free and vegetarian options. I will definitely go back.
Great food, atmosphere, drinks, and service! Love the happy hour!
I had a lovely experience at Gorilla Whale. The tempura mushrooms, sticks and beets were fabulous! The only hold back I would have in going back was that the sound level of the music was very high which helped create a very loud space which was hard to visit in.
Yummy food smallish portions. Suuuper loud. Great service
I was evaluating it with another family member to determine if it would be suitable for a larger gathering.
Great service, amazing food and a uniquely brilliant ambience. Will be back for more!
This must be some kind of sick joke. Lots of good reviews on here, but we clearly missed something. Although the one constant theme on which we can concur is the volume of the music. We get it – it’s part of the shtick. But there is a fine line to adjusting loud music to remove the edge so people can speak and their ears are not bleeding. It was 6:00 pm and no one was looking for a club vibe just yet. One of Gorilla Whale’s feature items is its “sticks”, which quite frankly drew us to the place, as many menus in Calgary right now are cookie-cutter and cliché and we were looking forward to something different. Sticks are described as charcoal-grilled skewers. And incidentally, the menu on their website is old and not accurate – another pet-peeve of mine in 2020 – update your website! We asked our server, Pat, how many sticks we should order – we’re clearly two dudes and it was dinner time. He said 2-3 would be great and we went along, ordering the pork belly, halloumi cheese and zucchini. This is where the punchline of the joke comes in. Imagine taking a zucchini and slicing off less than an inch and cutting it in four half-circles – Stick 1. Enter the pork belly and imagine one-third of one of those pink erasers you used in school, oh, and a pineapple chunk – Stick 2. The cheese was alone on Stick 3, about one-inch square. So, having invested $24 and feeling like we had just had the complimentary amuse bouche, we asked Pat for a menu so we could order some more food. This was Mistake #2, as apparently Pat fell and we did not see him for a full 25 minutes. When he finally returned, there was no point in continuing this painful ordeal and we asked for the bill, expressing our displeasure – in return we got a “sorry guys.” The hostess came with the cc machine – perhaps Pat had fallen again – and when we also told her we were disappointed, we got a shoulder shrug. A full-on emoji model shoulder shrug! I recommend you walk right by. Our Oh Henry bar later was better.
Gorilla Whale was a nice spot that offers fusion oriental cuisine and a nice assortment of cocktails. Their menu options are limited and a little more on the expensive side. The ambiance and decor are lovely, and they play nice music. The service was great.
