Since opening its doors in 1984 Gotham has received a record six 3-star reviews from the New York Times. After closing alongside the pandemic for 18 months, in November of 2021 a renovated Gotham was reopened by new ownership, longtime Managing Partner Bret Csencsitz and environmentalist Kevin Conrad, with former pastry chef Ron Paprocki taking over the iconic kitchen. Redesigned by its original architect James Biber, Gotham is filled with a vibrant collection of contemporary art by established and emerging artists. A new library and lounge expand the bar experience, while Chef Paprocki's spectacular new menu is being heralded as equally approachable and unforgettable.

Two stops from Broadway, a storied walk from the likes of the Public Theater and Classic Stage Company, Gotham Restaurant is an ideal pre-theatre (or post-matinee!) destination. To honor our love of the dramatic arts, we have created a Pre-Theatre Fixe, offered daily from 5-6PM. The menu is designed to be served and savored on cue, allowing you to enjoy an elevated pre-theatre experience and still make curtain time. The three-course menu is $85 with an optional wine pairing for an additional $40.

Music is the food of love! Each Wednesday night from 8:30-10, experience world-class jazz in the beauty of Gotham's room. Listen from the bar, or reserve a table for dining or just drinks. From May 16-June 22 we will be exploring five decades of Duke Ellington's musical genius, from the 1920s-60s.

First time we have been to the new Gotham since it opened in Nov. and thought the food was very good but not as memorable as the original Gotham . It is very expensive with a somewhat limited menu and very good service.

We have been to Gotham many times since it first opened and It’s always a great meal with great service and well worth every penny but we have one bone to pick this time my wife ordered a salad and a pasta appetizer as her dinner and we were charged twice the price for the pasta because we were told when we received the bill that we were charged for a main course even though it’s neither on the menu as a main course not is there a note on the menu that you can order it as a main course - We spent $600 for dinner yet there was no effort on the waitresses part to reduce the pasta charge from $58 to $29 - the pasta wound up costing more than the fish and lamb dishes that our guests ordered - doesn’t make sense

Flock to the new Gotham for lunch, bar plates, and anytime. We celebrate all our families and friends' special occasionsut, but go simply to get the most elegant and delicious food accompanied with a uniquely professional dining staff. Took a special friend for lunch on a Wednesday. A real spirit lifter all around. Loved this place before new design. Love it even more with its fresh design and book nook. New lighting and wonderful art. Thank you all at Gotham for improving on what was tough to improve on.

We had a glorious time. Even when we arrived a bit earlier than our reservation, we were seated quickly. Receptionist was warm and friendly. The floor manager or Maitre D’ was friendly and efficient. The supporting table staff was friendly and effective. The Jazz music was wonderful. The food was delicious, prepared exactly to our wishes, and plenty of it. Our waiter, Don, was superb. Warm, kind, kindly, and efficient. Another or different floor manager who attended to our table - monitoring all the wait staff, was excellent as well. As we were leaving, the hat check gal was also friendly. So, all in all, we had a wonderful experience.

Came for lunch to see if we liked the food as we were considering this restaurant to celebrate my son’s birthday. Totally unremarkable meal. Service was far less expected. We initially were offered the worst table in an empty restaurant. I had to decline 2 times before I chose the table myself. The wait was very long - it took almost 25 minutes to bring my daughter a Diet Coke. Overall quite mediocre experience. Paid $280 for a 2 course lunch without alcohol for 3 persons. Never again.

Beautiful remodel space of an nyc restaurant classic. Great service but the lady sommelier has the just absurd attitude. Very disagreeable for no resin whatsoever. She seemed upset and projected her emotional situation to all in our table if seven. Every other waiter was nice and attentive.

The new Gotham is a welcome update. The refreshed decor and new menu are decided improvements while the excellent service is just as good as ever. I loved the old Gotham Bar & Grill when its kitchen was helmed by Alfred Portale, but it declined under his successor and the place needed a facelift. The new Gotham has a more contemporary feel and the kitchen is outstanding.

It's the first bite that counts and Chef Ron loves to surprise you. The first taste pops like a firecracker then the other flavors join and reverberate. His sea bass is dramatic! The crunch of the fish, then you try the broth, then some greens... it's the sea in a bowl... a masterpiece.

This is a very beautiful restaurant where the staff is very attentive, but the cost is outrageously high for food that is good but not sublime or attention grabbing. For a meal that cost $70 for two courses and a cup of coffee, that the restaurant does not even give you a tiny sweet with the coffee is outrageous. The food needs to be more spectacular or the restaurant needs to be more generous.
