In the heart of the East Devon countryside, surrounded by acres of farmland, you'll find the award-winning Greendale Farm Shop and it's family-friendly café & restaurant. The Greendale Farm Shop Café and Restaurant is much loved by visitors and locals alike. We offer a new extensive menu, created around many of the items sold in our shop and showcasing local produce from our farm and fishing boats. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are no problem and we have a children's menu for the little ones, too. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as tea and coffee, delicious cakes and Devon cream teas.

Once you've eaten why not take a stroll along our family farm trail. The trails follow a level path that’s just right for pushchairs and little legs where you can say hello to all of the animals, including Oscar the Ostrich.

On Sunday and Monday evenings, from 3.30pm, our restaurant serves from our extensive fish and chip menu only.

    We had a lovely meal but the there are a few points that need attention. The waitress was great. Unfortunately it went downhill from ordering. We received the starters which were lovely and the main came out a while later. We waited for our table to be cleared but this didn’t happen until I called someone over. They then went away still not clearing the plates and came back a while later to clear it. We were not asked if we would like any desserts or any further drinks so decided to leave. Customer service needs to be improved. I would think twice about going again. I wouldn’t say that I wouldn’t recommend it to someone but the service must be improved.

    not good tonight, food dropped in lap for one of our part on arrival - no apology. overall food not cooked well - chips were dry, scampi & fish soggy in places. irder incorrect but no attempt to rectify. had to go in search of staff who were gathered in the corner most of the night & not checking on diners.

    It was my first time eating at Greendale. I loved the open, relaxed atmosphere. Service was friendly and efficient. My guest and I had a good evening and the food was top notch!

    Having had two recent lovely dining experiences at Greendale we booked a table to celebrate the birthday of a relative. We were disappointed, and feel we now have to book somewhere else to make up for our poor experience and to celebrate our relative's birthday again. The staff were courteous and friendly but perhaps lacked leadership. Tables were not cleared, our table was cleared of our main meal dishes some 20 minutes after we had finished eating. We had to ask if there was a pudding menu, our drinks order not quite correct. The vegetarian pie was delicious but if we had wanted "chip shop" chips from the take away fish counter we would have had fish and chips. We all felt if offering chips with a lunch then either they should be hand cut chunky chips or similar. With a pie a serving of some of the lovely fresh vegetables available in the farm shop would have been a nice alternative to chips (although the peas were very good). Our pudding order was not correct, and fruit crumble was ordered with cream for 2 of our party, this came with pouring cream, perhaps in Devon(and in view of the cost of the pudding) we expected some clotted cream! I think we thought there was a certain amount of "rabbit in the headlights" scenario on this occasion.

    Two of our party ordered meat pies expecting beef and were given chicken. One managed to change to another meal but one was stuck with the chicken she really didn’t want. My wife and I had the gammon steaks which were no thicker than bacon. There is a restaurant attached to a hotel closer to Exeter serving up gammon steaks with one egg and pineapple and chips where two meals cost just over half your charge.

    Had an excellent meal . The only concern was that my elderly mum was unable to use the toilet as it was too far away from the restaurant. She has breathing problems, and it was too far for her to walk. I am sure disabled facilities closer to the restaurant would be beneficial for many of your customers

    Sunday roasts ran out by 1pm and noone informed us until we tried to order. Left restaurant as didn't wish to eat anything else. Table next to ours had been waiting 40 mins + for fish and chips...

    It was Sunday lunch and our table was booked for 1 pm but they had run out of all roast dinners which was very disappointing. As it is a farm shop with all the necessary ingredients on site I thought that was bad management. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive (table of 2). Service was poor - I had to explain how a lime and sparkling water might be made for me. Very noisy and hectic with lots of uncleared tables around us.

    We have eaten many times at Greendale and always had a good experience so we thought we would give the Sunday roast a go. In comparison to every other meal we have had there it was very poor. Two of us had the pork which was quite tough and dry. The beef was better but all looked pretty sliced. The potatoes tasted like re heated pre cooked ones. The vegetables weren't anything special. We were very disappointed, the meal wasn't particularly cheap. We won't be going back for a roast we will stick to meals from the rest of the menu.

    Went for Sunday breakfast. Food was good and staff were attentive. Little bit noisy as there was a group of somewhat rowdy men near us, but not much the cafe can do about that.

    Slow service and after a 20 minute wait needed to get the attention of waiting staff. We ordered the farm breakfast with 2 of each item but only had one sausage. No beans on one and no mushroom on another. The eggs however were very tasty. Toast appeared when we were halfway through eating. Our first visit and sadly we wont return very soon.

    Food is good quality, easy for parking and a lovely view across towards Exeter with great sunsets. A Lovely walk around the animals also good food selection in the shop .

    As a frequent customer I was disappointed with the food served. Toasted chicken & chorizo sandwich was dry and tasteless and it needed lots of mayonnaise to make it digestible. Service was prompt and polite, but noise level, voices and barking dogs made conversation difficult. Wrong choice for a birthday meal.

    I know it’s fish and chips deal day,but the chips were awful, they were hard and well overcooked. I think the chips were a cooked at lunchtime then recooked. The fish was excellent.

    Fish was lovely , Chips were very dry left most of them ..surprising as the chips here are usually very good . Very loud music for 4pm that kept being turned up and down . We usually really enjoy our food here so hoping it was just an off day .

    food as always first class, was very noisy due to small children crying whicch i appreciate is part of life, quite a few minor issues, ordered 2 soups one gluten free bread both were, soup bowl had to chipped edges, cappucchino had no froth was more like Latte, had to ask 3 times for glass of water, staff are always friendly and helpful, but dont expect these issues.     Seating area not clean, seat pads stained & dirty. Service, one person took the order one person served the food, one slightly more interested in customer service at the table but forgot one item with the main course and one dessert that I had to go to the counter to find out where it was, once again forgot with no apology. Everyone more concerned with cleaning before going home rather than providing customer service to the diners. Maybe the last sitting for dinner should earlier so the restaurant can be closed before cleaning.
