Food was amazing, staff were super attentive and friendly, drinks were excellent. I proposed to my partner at this dinner and I was taking him out for his birthday - couldn’t have chosen a better place.
Loved that the kitchen is visible and is kept so clean. Lighting and music was great, good ambience.
Two thumbs up 👍🏼 👍🏼
The somm did an amazing job recommending wine for various preferences. The food was outstanding and the server did a great job recommending options. I think we all had an great time.
Fantastic meal. I would go back, desert was suboptimal everything else was great
I discovered Grey gardens this summer and it has never failed me. The service is impeccable, my boyfriends flight was delayed and they kept the kitchen open later just so we could still make it. We never felt rushed, the server spent some time with us on the wine list and suggested a great pairing. Every dish was fantastic (even their bread is over the top delicious).
Their carpaccio melts in your mouth and the ravioli with truffle is next level. Highly recommend this spot for a date night or catching up with old friends over good food and wine with a super cool atmosphere
Enjoyed a lovely meal at the bar. If you enjoy seafood and sharing plates, this spot is highly recommended.
One of the most glorious dining experiences I ever had
Amazing food! Trish the server to order foryou.
Very very noisy.
Amazing food and wonderful service. Will definitely be going back.
Went to Grey Gardens for Valentine's day with my girlfriend.
Overall, I would rate this restaurant as an average experience at best. All the reviews that I had read and all of the buzz from word of mouth about this place seemed to make this the perfect spot for a great meal, though my experience was slightly disappointing.
Ambiance - very standard for a wine bar, nothing extraordinary. The room was quite busy when we were there which made it difficult to hold a conversation. Additionally the table we were seated at was quite narrow and I could basically hear the entire conversations of each table on both sides of me.
Food - The food that we ordered from the appetizers were tasty, however I bit taken a back by the limited selection on the menu combined with how overpriced it was for the amount of food and drink we were served. We ended up spending $200 on 4 drinks, 2 small appetizers, and one minuscule pasta that we shared.
Had an enjoyable time, but was left with a sour taste in my mouth because of the hype from the reviews and the website that raised the expectation for this experience, which was not met. Don't know if I would come back or recommend.
Grey gardens is a restaurant that has the resources and potential to be one of the best restaurants in Toronto, but they haven’t quite reached it. The food has its highs and lows. Their signature dish of sweet potato agnolotti with black truffles was amazing. But their black cod dishes needs to be taken off the menu ASAP. The cod was a little too burnt for my taste and it also had an overpowering foam sauce that flooded the plate. Lastly, there is not a single restaurant in Toronto that would charge over $30 for a 3 oz piece of Cod. This was $37 and it was poorly executed and not a very tasty dish.
Other than the very disappointing main course, everything else was fine. I would give it another shot when their menu changes, which it often does.
I also found it strange that their staff would drop off a plate and say one word and leave. No more description. Like, here’s your black cod and that’s it. Except for one of the kitchen staff, who actually had the decency to name a couple components on the plate. Overall, they don’t seem very interested to be serving their guests. Maybe it’s a Sunday night and they had a long week, who knows.
The food was outstanding, as expected, I don't think there is a bad pick. You can see the chefs working which was great. Jen Agg always opens restaurants that put an emphasis on great service. As per usual in Toronto, plates are for sharing, not very large, staff recommended 5 plates shared between two people for a satisfying dinner. I would budget about $200 for dinner for two. Loved all the attention to small details like the brass coloured cutlery.
Recommended by a friend, close to where we were staying. Staff very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful experience!!
The food is so food. Especially fish and oysters
The service is excellent.
Fun experience! We liked the “smalls” better than the “mediums”. Oysters were delicious. Enjoyable take on many conventional dishes. Nice ambiance, very good service.
We shared Bread with Herbed Butter & a Schmaltz, Beef Carpaccio, and Oxtail Pasta. The pasta sauce was so unbelievably rich and luxurious. We can't stop talking about it. We then had this wonderful Danish desert - little homemade hot pancake-like donuts with homemade ice cream. It had a crazy crab-apple sauce that was so tart and wonderful. Dreaming about that too! We can't wait to go back.
We shared a few different dishes and so glad we did: every one was terrific. Sitting at the kitchen bar was fun though next time would prefer a table. Our server was knowledgeable and anticipatory. Ambiance was cozy and energetic.
The food was amazing, especially for the value! Unique dishes that blew our minds! The staff was informative and approachable.
Went to Grey Gardens for a first date and I was really impressed. Our reservation for 10 was a bit delayed just because of how packed the place was but the staff was very accommodating. Service was awesome, our server was very attentive when we were running low on drinks or needed anything. Would definitely recommend to a friend! Also the date went fairly well which is an added bonus to my memory of the evening.
My girlfriend and I had a great dining experience at Grey Gardens. it was a special occasion (anniversary) for us, and we were treated to a glass of bubbly when we were first seated. The staff were very accommodating, attentive and friendly. We were seated at the kitchen bar, right in front of the chefs preparing food. At first I was not sure this was the place I wanted to sit, and I asked to be moved. The hostess said she could do so when a table opened up. But my girlfriend and I soon found the kitchen bar seat was intimate and interesting, so we opted to stay.
The food was delicious, flavorful and rich. I enjoyed hearing about the wines that were on offer. We lingered over our meals as plates were brought to us at an unhurried but timely pace. This was a dining experience that hit all the right notes, from service to food, and then some. We loved our evening at Grey Gardens. I can't wait to return!
Wonderful food and service
