Happy Hour Sunday - Thursday b4 7:00 pm & after 9:00 pm with $3.99 tacos and cocktails, beer & wine $8
I’m sad to write this review because at first I thought these guys have it down. The vibe, atmosphere and music was cool, fun and unique... I thought I was in Florida however for the price it lacked finesse. We follow Gringo Street on Insta and have been planning a visit for awhile, their drinks are super interesting and yummy however their food although interesting concepts lacked flavour and everything was over salted... I watched Chef dose everything with piles of salt. We had the spicy crab guacamole, 8 different types of tacos and yam fries and every dish was the same... I was very disappointed. We sat at the kitchen table top and my husband was bumped in the back every time the waitress went by. We had two cocktails each then a beer and just after receiving our beers were told we had to leave... the front manager told us we only had 1.5 hours and we must go. We didn’t recall being told this but were then told I 100% told them... I guess customers aren’t always right...there we were having to guzzle our beers down, pay our bill and leave with heart burn after the guzzle. The experience left us feeling disappointed... my husband thought he might come back for happy hour where the value for your money might be there... I won’t go back. It’s too bad they really have the right concept...
They got us in quite quickly despite having a group of four on a busy Friday night. However, it took us well over an hour to get our food while we watched tables around us that showed up twenty minutes after us get the same food we were still waiting on. We were not apologized to once, and the server appeared quite oblivious to the fact that it was taking so long and did not check up on it until we prompted her to.
Great value during happy hour. The tacos are super tasty and interesting.
Even if you are not vegetarian, you must try their mushroom tacos and cauliflower tacos.
Food was just ok. Expected more. Service was distracted. Meh.
This is my second time dining at Gringo street. I was disappointed this time around as our tacos took a very long time to get to our table, and were already cold and the shells were dry and hard. Not so my first visit.
Got spilled/splashed in by the bar tender 3times with zero apology. We went earlier and reserved a table not bar top but we were given a bar top and they said no tables where available, after mentioning this to their supervisor, she explained that they gave out the table to a different group that’s why our only option was the bar top.
Not sure what to say about this but I don’t think that was great service at all.
The Tacos were amazing!! I love the thai coconut short rib and duck ones best. I also highly recommend the guava margarita. We came here for my friends birthday and they took great care of her- wishing her happy birthday and gave her a complimentary drink. The only negatives I took away was that they refused to modify any dishes (even though we only asked for no cilantro which they mentioned was a garnish on the nachos. Seems simple enough to just not put any on top when they are finishing the dish). They also ran out of plates and my tacos had gotten cold by the time we got any. Overall great service and good drinks
GRINGO St never fails to fill our belly’s . Decent service and happy hour.
Music was exceptionally loud and we had to yell across a small table to hear each other. Food and drinks, as always, we’re on point.
Service at times was a little confusing and delayed between our hostess/waiter and another waiter.
Food was amazing. Service fantastic. Only down side chairs where a bit uncomfortable for sitting long periods of time.
Great food, great service. We lucked out and hit the restaurant during a promotion and so most things were half price. Yay.
The tacos were unique and flavourful with great presentation. The smashed potato salad was a wonderful surprise. Not what I expected, but maybe I didn’t read the menu close enough.
Definitely will go back
My only nit pick. I reserved a table but got the two worst bar seats there are in the joint.
Super delicious! Loved the variety and the happy hour.
I won a giftcard to Gringo Street and was so excited to try it as I had heard great things. It did not disappoint! Our server and the other staff we interacted with were so friendly and the food was great! The happy hour pricing is excellent. Will definitely be back!
Food was overpriced and very noisy
One of our favourite restaurants. Chorizo fondido was fantastic ... probably the best yet and pineapple margaritas are my all time favourite here!! Great experience with new friends! We’ll be back!
The food was good but the service was slow, constantly waiting too long for another drink. Waitress was polite but she was too busy. My biggest complaint would be that the music was annoyingly loud. I wouldn’t go back if I had to sit where our table was located as our table was at the entrance- very drafty, uncomfortable and waitresses were constantly bumping us on their way due to lack of space.
Took a while for the server to initially acknowledge us and to get our first drink. After that it was a good experience.
Great food. All of the tacos we had were outstanding.
The service at the bar was just okay. Strange not to have the bartenders serve customers there. I would probably not sit in that location again.
Food to die for! Best tacos in YYC! Drinks were ok but the food was the star of the show. Definatelly going back soon!
Our server was excellent! It was my boyfriend’s birthday and they made sure it was special. Great food and great service!
Food was good
Drinks was good
My yam fries took awhile too come to my table
But overall good
Great atmosphere. The skewers and the kale salad were fantastic. The MS14 fries are a must try. The shrimp taco was very good but the pork belly taco was awful. They need a few more veggie options, the veggie tacos are just bad.
Came to Gringo Street for a birthday dinner, thought it would be a perfect time to check out the new happy hour that had been advertised. This experience was the absolute worst service I have ever received in my life, and put a damper on the birthday.
When we arrived we were seated promptly, as the restaurant was less than half full (I now know why). We were greeted by our server who asked if we’d prefer still or sparkling, and then asked if we’d like to order drinks. We both agreed on still, and asked for a margarita for happy hour. We asked if we could both have two different ones to try them as 15 seems like a lot to go through. She then told us how having two margaritas each on the table is illegal (which when they’re only 1oz, it’s not illegal). We said okay, my drink arrived after 10 minutes, and my dates drink was not brought at the same time, but 5 minutes later. We then ordered another round, so that we could try a few others before happy hour ended. At this point we still had no water. No one quality checked our first round of drinks, and it took 15 minutes (35 minutes in total) before anyone asked us for food.
Food was okay. Tacos came out cold for my date. We still had no water. The server did say she’d get a new taco for her but at that point we were so disappointed with Gringo St, the level of service and the experience all we wanted to do was leave. We are both servers and expect a decent level of service when we go out to eat but this place was the absolute worst service I’ve ever had in my life.
When the bill came the server informed us that the taco had been taken off and a drink for her birthday which was very nice. But I noticed a water charge on our bill and I mentioned to the server that the entire 1.5 hours we had sat there we never received any water, and her reply, “oh, classic. I’ll take care of that for you.” That response makes it seem like a normal thing for customers to be charged for water without receiving any
Never going back.
Service was maybe the best we have ever had. Will recommend you to everyone
Best happy hour in the city!!! Check it out asap!!
We loved it. It was happy hour so the prices were great. Food was delicious and drinks were very good.
Great atmosphere, awesome attentive service
Margaritas and tacos are awesome. The salsas and chips was also really tasty. We got everything the server recommended. We were served by Beth, who was awesome. Food was a little salty but very tasty. Will definitely go back.
Great food and would recommend this place for tacos and drinks.
The only negative thing of my experience is they changed their happy hour deals and when we asked the server she only replied with yes the tacos. We assumed it was the same as previously, the bill came and the special was not the same anymore. We ended up paying more than we were expecting to during our visit.
This should have been more clear upfront as we felt lied to and then it ruined our experience.
Loved it! The cocktails and tacos were amazing! Great service!
Great place! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The food was very tasty for a great value. Drinks were amazing! Hats off to the bartender 😋
It took over 30 min to get a drink from time we ordered.
Great tacos , service was perfect . I would hang out here again 100%
They got rid of their happy hours for tacos! Boo but that’s ok all other taco places have happy hour. Service was just ok, drinks were ok but again the prices went up!!! Just over all not worth the money. At all. And not eager at all to accommodate allergies and preferences
We reserved a table but we were sat at the bar which we normally don’t mind. However the bartender came off as incredibly rude and obnoxious and was complaining about his staff the entire time which we found so unprofessional. Just not a great vibe when the entire staff is standing around the bar complaining about being there and complaining about the restaurant they’re working at. If you serve average food, you better hope you make up for it with amazing service. They did not. We won’t be going back there again.
I have been to Gringo Street numerous times for the quality of their food. The food is always very good and that has definitely been the main reason for going back.
Unfortunately this time our food took an over an hour to make, the restaurant was very busy, but it was a Friday night and we had a reservation so there was nothing about this that was out of the normal. When our tacos finally arrived, out of 24 of them only 2 were warm, the rest were room temperature if not cold. The tacos were still tasty, but it all started to fall apart for the restaurant when we told them about the issue. The food is rather pricey for the quantities you get, for a place that charges around $12 for a 2oz cocktail as standard and about $4.5 per street taco, we were hoping the long wait for the tacos meant they would be hot.
Management came and spoke to our table and apologized for the issue, and since we had decided to eat the tacos anyways as to not waste food, we were hoping that the issue would've been resolved on the bill in some sort of way as to regain our trust in the integrity they have in the food that they make. The manager on duty said she would look into working something out for us, but after this we never saw her again. She told our server what her solutions was and it was to comp one desert for our table of six which would've included one of their two desert options being 2 churros or a nutella style taco.
NO further effort was made to clarify this or hear us out, and one desert for 6 people who spent over $300 dollars and have been back for multiple visits, was borderline insulting. It was just enough to recognize something should be done about lacklustre quality of the food, but fell completely flat in recognizing return customers as worth more than 1/3 of a churro.
This approach acts as if the customer is not trust worthy, nor worth having back, and unfortunately I can no longer recommend Gringo Street nor return as a customer myself.
Creative and delicious cocktail menu! The food has great flavors and presentation. Definitely recommend.
Found this place to be far too loud to enjoy a conversation. The service was friendly but scattered, forgetting drinks, long wait to get our order in, different people asking us the same things again. We made a reservation and had the worst table in the place which was disappointing. The food was very good though, and if you are looking for really loud and energetic place you might really like it. Otherwise, I recommend takeout!
Service was quite slow. New employee being trained, no issue as it takes time to learn, but it took almost 20 min from getting the drink to someone taking our food order.
